Chapter 4 - Hope!!!

Alex was eager to talk to the old man, but Nonki was very excited and playing around with him. Alex looks at them; he thought they were like grandparents and granddaughter.

Nonki looks at Alex and smiles, " Mr. Satra can I call you Grandpa? ."

Old man replied " of course you can; it makes me very happy."

Alex put his hand on his forehead; he remembered that his and Nonki's life energy was connected. Then he walked quickly towards the old man.

" Sir, there is a very important matter I have to talk about, As you say you serve Elsar's family, I think you might know something and help me "

Old man told Nonki to go play in the garden , Kane accompanied her. And then he took Alex to a magnificent statue of a sparrow, carved from ancient stone darkened by time and magic. Though sparrows are small creatures of the skies, this one towers above the land, its wings spread wide as if guarding a forgotten secret. The air around the statue hums with quiet power, making it feel less like a monument and more like a slumbering guardian of the world.

Old man stood before the statue in silence, eyes lifted with sincere respect.

"Alex do you know the symbol of the Elsar family?"

Alex looks at statue and replied " Sparrow? "

" oh! In your world it's called only sparrow but here it is known as Blue Sparrow, Queen of the Moon " said Old man.

"And it's not the Elsar family symbol; it's the Lancenstor family symbol. The Elsar family symbol is the Dragon King himself."

After hearing, Dragon Alex's gaze sharpened with interest. Then the old man asked Alex what he wanted to talk about.

Alex with his serious expression

" I don't know where to start but one thing I know for sure is that I want to help Nonki you might not know but I am absorbing her life energy.. "

Old man Interject "I know, when she was born I was there for help. We have gotten a sign that the summon is going to complete. I know everything."

Alex asked " Then you know how to stop this and save Nonki. "

" Unfortunately I didn't know it was very complicated magic which connects her life energy to you .It was like that when Nonki was in the womb she herself connected her life energy to you. Originally, it was her magic; she wanted to save you even before her birth," said the old man.

Alex looked disappointed and puzzled. He was lost in deep thoughts.

"I will not lie I am very scared. I didn't know what to do or what's gonna happen, honestly I wanna go home."

He started crying softly.

"I am too cowardly to die and also didn't want Nonki to die either."

Old man patted his head

" It's okay son, you are too kind for this world people didn't care about other's when it's came to life death situation ."

"Listen, I didn't know how to help, but that doesn't mean there is no way to find a solution. This world is full of mysterious things even for us; almost everything is possible here"

After listening to the old man, Alex's tears faded; he looked up with hope flickering in his eyes.

" Then what should we do to find a solution."

Old man stared at the sky and thought about it.

" Although I may not know the solution but I think someone might know and it would also is good to make distance between you and Nonki we didn't distance may be a factor in this process"

Alex thought about it and then said " yes you are right sir, where is this person who can help us let's go to them."

" About that person was not in this kingdom even not in this continent."

Alex quickly asked, "Then how do we get the solution? Sir, we didn't have time; her life energy is draining as we speak"

Old man smiled and put his hand on Alex's shoulder, "How about you and me go on the adventure!."

Then the old man explains Alex about the adventure to go find that person to get help. He also explained that Nonki will remain safe with Lancestor's household. They will not reveal her identity as princess for her safety because she is the sole remaining member of the royal family and the next Queen of Maglonia. Nonki will be studying magic at Magic Academy, which is floating in the sky above the Kingdom. Kane will be with Nonki at Academy . She has full authority over the academy as she was the once-in-a-generation genius in both magic and swords. And the headmaster of the academy was also serving Elsar's family. Old man ensures Alex that Nonki will be safe at the academy and Lancestor's household will be at her service.

" Now it's decided we will depart tommorow at the crack of dawn , Go tell Nonki , she is just a child . It's not gonna easy. "

After that old man return to his office for prepare for his journey and other household stuffs.

Alex before going back to Nonki he walk around and sorted his thoughts. Then he goes to Nonki and suggested to walk around near by market place. When they arrived, they found that there

was a fair.

The fair stretched across the meadow like a living dream, every corner glowing with color and magic. Lanterns drifted freely in the air, bobbing like curious fireflies, while ribbons of light curled around the tents and rides. Music chimed and danced from unseen instruments, and laughter rippled through the crowd like a spell cast just for joy. Nonki's eyes shining brighter than the crystals hanging overhead. It was her first time seeing a fair.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the nearest game stall, where enchanted rings floated instead of falling. Each time she missed, the rings giggled and scooted farther away, and Alex laughed so hard he had to wipe his eyes before taking his turn. When he finally won, the prize—a tiny plush gryphon that sneezed sparks—refused to sit still, and she immediately claimed it as her own. Alex pretended to protest, but let her keep it, because her grin was victory enough.

They wandered deeper into the fair, stopping whenever something strange or wonderful caught their attention. A parade of clockwork animals marched past, their metal joints clicking softly as they bowed to the cheering crowd. At a food stall, clouds of spun sugar floated above the counter, and Nonki jumped to catch one, missing every time until he lifted her just enough for her fingers to brush the sweetness.

The Ferris wheel loomed ahead, its spokes glowing like constellations. As it carried them upward, the fair spread out beneath their feet, a sea of light and motion. She leaned closer to him, pretending it was only to see better. From above, the kingdom felt truly magical.

When they stepped off the ride, a shower of harmless sparks burst across the sky, signaling the start of the night's final celebration. Fireworks bloomed into shapes of stars, moons, and mythical beasts. Nonki was very happy and said that they should come tomorrow as well.

Alex didn't say anything and returned to the residence, then he talked to Nonki

"Listen Nonki, I am going to adventure with Mr. Satra to find someone who can help so we both can live."

Nonki " Then I am also going with you."

Alex tried to convince her but Nonki didn't back down, and she goes to the old man to ask him to take her as well with them. Then both tried to convince her, but she didn't listen to them.

Then after a while, the Old man tells this adventure also for the training of Alex as he was the weakest and didn't sense or know how to use mana at all. Nonki is a magician so she should study at the magic academy while Alex trains with swords.

Old man looks at Alex and steps to the corner of the room and starts chanting then an old chest appears from thin air.

"In this chest, there were items left by the Vardain Elsar for you, Alex. He told my Ancestor to give this to you. There was a cape and scroll."

Old man explains, Cape which never gets dirty and protects from all physical damage. Scroll has secret and ultimate techniques of swords. By opening a scroll you will know these arts instantly without studying them and instantly get mastered.

Legends claimed the sky-blue cape was blessed by the First Sky, granting its bearer immunity to physical harm.

Alex loosened the final tie and unrolled the scroll. For a heartbeat, nothing happened—then the parchment ignited with brilliance. Light poured from it in vast, flowing waves, brighter than fire and softer than dawn, filling the air with a humming warmth. The glow wrapped around the Alex's hands, arms, and chest, sinking into skin and breath, into bone and blood, as though the magic had been waiting for this moment—waiting for them. The Alex staggered as the light was drawn fully inside, their heartbeat echoing with power not their own. When the radiance finally faded, the scroll hung limp and colorless.

Old man asked Alex what happened; did he get the techniques? Alex nodded!! and grabbed the sword hanging near the door; he started showing basic form skill of swordsmanship.

"These are the only techniques I got from the scroll. I didn't think that I got advanced or ultimate skills, but these are better than nothing. Moments ago, I didn't know how to hold a sword."

Old man was puzzled how this happened. He was thinking that the scroll was made by Vardain Elsar himself; there is no way Dragon sage who will make a mistake, but how can it be possible in only basic form? Maybe it is because no fate, no destiny...."What a pity".

While Old Man and Alex were talked, Nonki left the room.

Then the old man suggests Alex go to the storehouse for essential items required in the journey. Alex decided to go before sleep to complete his preparation for tomorrow. On his way to the storehouse he met Rey Lancenstor, one of the twins, son of Old Man (Satra Lancenstor). Rey was friendly towards Alex; he greets Alex like a friend.

"Heyaa! I was looking for you, Alex. I heard you were going on a trip with family head. Come with me. I have some items that you may like. "

Alex followed him happily. They go to upper lower rather than basement where was storehouse. At the end of the hall there was a double doorway; as soon as the door opens, Alex was amazed by the.....
