Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Not Just an Ordinary Person (1)

The fight continued, with Mais sustaining severe injuries at regular intervals. Thenns was no ordinary fighter. He wasn't like the other geniuses, either. He was a warrior! A true expert who had experienced real battles. An Ascended. Although Mais was born a monster and had never been defeated by anyone on equal terms, Thenns possessed the power of a Sage, and life wasn't fair.

Mais had run out of tricks; compared to the old man, he was barely visible. The old man had the advantage, but Mais still had one more method. Not a new technique or a powerful treasure, but a tactic.

"Enter the inheritance, Little White! Hurry!'

This cat was one of the few things keeping Mais alive amidst the battle, sustaining injuries. He had given her the scarf because he couldn't unleash the full power of a weapon from the Origin Heart realm. The difference between the two realms was much more pronounced. Just as he couldn't unleash the power of his staff. Mais was only a Core Expert. How could he simply use a weapon from a realm two levels above his own?

And it wasn't just these items. Even the mid-level Origin Heart technique he used barely worked. It was slightly better because he used the staff as a vessel, but he still couldn't unleash the full power of the technique. In contrast, Thenns could use Origin Heart techniques however he pleased. This was because he was drawing power from the Sage Realm. Immortal White was here.

The moment Immortal White left, Thenns would fall to the 10th stage of the Core Realm, unable to use techniques in the Origin Heart realm.

Immortal White was hesitant. Despite doing everything he could to stop Mais from being beaten, it wasn't enough. The child was covered in blood and bruises from the violence. The restrictions on Thenns forced him to guard the door and stop his opponent, but not to kill him. Otherwise, Mais would have been slaughtered long ago.

Thenns was once a blind young man destined to become the leader of the Gama Clan. In an attempt to overcome his blindness, he committed many despicable acts. Despite the trouble they caused his conscience, he believed that a blind child should not pursue honour. For years, he lived here, thinking about those days. Now, he had an equal opponent before him, against whom he could defend his honour. He found this amusing. It was a moment of contradiction as the end approached.

Mais was blind like him. He was at the beginning of his journey. Then Thenns was three realms stronger than him. Perhaps he had lived for hundreds of years longer. Despite having to fight him, Thenns still wanted to show him mercy.

But how long would that mercy last?

The Little White had to go. Not just for Mais. For the Thenns, too. She had to go, to stop him ruining the ending of his story as he had ruined his past.

The little monster looked at Mais with a confused expression. The moment she stopped fighting back, the beating intensified. At this rate, he would start to sustain permanent injuries.

"You must go," said the old man. This time, his tired eyes turned to Little White, and as he spoke, he had no choice but to wait for the monster to understand.

'Must go...'

No matter how confused she was, she had to leave. Not because her enemies had told her to, but because Mais had told her to.

The Immortal White might not be very smart right now, but she could still understand some things. She could listen to her heart and instincts.

And so, Little White stepped into the darkness behind the door. Now, Mais was the only one remaining of those who had entered through the second door.

With the next punch, the old man's realm fell to the tenth stage, the Core Realm. He stopped using Origin Heart Techniques, yet his punch was no simpler. His fist cut through the air, leaving a trail as it advanced. He was using a high-level Sage technique. He showed no hesitation whatsoever when the battle changed.

And Mais was aware of everything. Little White was gone, and now it was a one-on-one fight. He would no longer tolerate being bullied. His power surged with rage as he advanced on Thenns with a punch, and a cold energy advanced with him.

Neither of them could see; neither knew the exact position of the other. Yet despite everything, their desires fuelled this clash, causing their fists to meet in the middle.

TAAAAAAKKK!!!

Those who clashed were no ordinary people!

Monsters were facing off!

Under normal circumstances, a core expert's ability to use the Sage technique would be incredible. This would suggest a promising future and talent, but now, as if there were two Ascended here, two high-level techniques collided naturally.

Mais instantly swung his staff with his other hand and Thenns responded by striking him with the head of his cane.

Mais continued to swing his staff without hesitation; the momentum had reached tremendous speed. Another technique.

At that moment, Thenns realised there was a problem, but it was too late.

The staff struck the cane.

CRACK!

It didn't stop. Under Thenns' stunned gaze, Mais's staff shattered his cane and passed through it. Mais just kept advancing. At this point, the old man pulled his fist back and moved out of range of the slowing staff. His reactions revealed his experience.

The pain in Mais's body dulled his senses to a certain extent. He didn't feel the wheat and grass touching his skin. He was focused solely on his opponent. He turned his head in that direction, focusing his attention on Thenns' movements. He minimised his slight visual impairment as much as possible and demonstrated why he was a genius of close combat.

Thenns became increasingly surprised every time he looked at Mais.

He could sense Mais charging at him with frenzied rage. Just a moment ago, he hadn't been able to fully grasp the extent of his power, but now he was beginning to understand the depth of this genius's abilities, which had allowed him to reach the peak of the Core Realm at the age of ten.

Mais's Bo had not been swung randomly. It had been enhanced using a peak Sage technique. Thenns's staff hadn't been a particularly powerful weapon to begin with. His real weapon had been destroyed while fighting the False Dragon. Nevertheless, Thenns hadn't expected the staff to break.
