To the average citizen of Nebula City, the shop located at 4th and Grand was an eyesore.
It was a small, two-story structure squeezed between a gleaming bank and a 24-hour gym. The roof was tiled with grey slate that looked centuries old. The sign above the door—Golden Lotus Curios—was hand-painted in calligraphy that was beautiful, but illegible to anyone who didn't read ancient seal script.
The shop smelled of sandalwood, old paper, and a quiet sort of eternity.
Inside, Li Wusheng sat behind the counter.
He was not wearing a suit. He was wearing traditional white hanfu robes made of coarse linen, layered perfectly to allow for maximum airflow during martial arts combat (should the need arise). His long black hair was tied up with a wooden hairpin.
He was currently staring at a small, rectangular device on the counter.
A smartphone.
"It is vibrating," Li observed calmly. "Why is it vibrating?"
