The Heavenly Palace was not a building; it was an assault on the retina.
Built specifically for the Series Finale, it floated on a man-made island in the center of Jincheng Lake. The architecture was a confused mix of Versailles, the Forbidden City, and a Las Vegas casino. Every surface was covered in gold leaf. There were fountains that sprayed champagne. There were peacocks that had been genetically modified to be pink.
The entire city was watching. Giant vertical screens on every skyscraper broadcast the live feed.
