When I step into the study, Derek practically launches himself from his chair. The sparkling tiara he was wearing gets hastily swept off his head as he attempts to compose himself, clearly mortified at being discovered in such a compromising position.
The others trail in behind me, and suddenly the mighty Alpha King resembles nothing more than a startled animal frozen in bright lights.
Jamiya had finished her relentless teasing of me and shifted her focus entirely to Warner, with everyone else joining in the good-natured torment. Derek's gaze locks onto mine with an expression that practically screams a challenge, daring me to expose what I just witnessed. I could easily let this slide, but where would be the entertainment in that? Besides, playful teasing seems to be the only common ground we ever find.
