"You know you have to apologize, right?" Knowles chuckles, his voice carrying that familiar edge of amusement.
"Yeah," I respond with a simple nod.
"He's exceptionally skilled at apologies," Bernard comments, extending a glass toward me.
"Shouldn't you be somewhere in Florida right now?" I question Bernard directly.
"Missed my flight, and we just experienced an attack."
"Arlene experienced an attack," I clarify, my tone sharp.
"Words carry weight, Vaughn. That man is still your father," Knowles responds with a knowing smirk.
"In that case, go to hell, Derek." I lift the glass to my lips, tasting the burn.
"You completely overreacted when you discovered the Anson situation. That burden wasn't hers to carry, and she obviously despises him just as much as you do," Bernard states matter-of-factly.
