"Are you scared?"
"never."
He looked at Day's face, then down to their hands where they were holding hands.
Day squeezed his hands once, his soft hands against his. Warm. Solid. Grounding.
"It's okay, I am here."
"I know," Travis swallowed, throat bobbing up and down. "I just want to make sure that you are ready. That you want this because there is no coming back."
"I am sure about you," he whispered, a soft smile gracing his lips. "I have been ready ever since you found me all those years ago. I love you, Travis King."
Birds above flutter and fly, their wings flapping loudly, unsettling the calm as if they have heard Day's declaration and are celebrating. His heart is beating so fast, and despite himself, he smiles, warmth spreading throughout his chest.
"I love you more."
"Good," Day peers up at him, eyelashes fluttering. "Then make me yours, forever."
