Chapter 21 - DO I REALLY, DARLING? DO I REALLY HAVE A CHOICE?

"Aren't you being pretentious to accuse me of things when you can't seem to take your eyes off him? Or do you think no one sees you when you look at him every single time? It's getting embarrassing, no?"

Marcus stalks him slowly, eyes narrowed as his mouth curls in a mean smile.

"You, of all people. The young master of the Savitt, drooling over a-"

"I am not drooling over anyone. Why are you turning this around? Aren't you the one who is sleeping around with everyone in this damn school?

"Am I that bad of a boyfriend that you are so desperate for affection you will go literally anything with a pulse?"

Day gets petty when he is mad. He has no filter, and he becomes someone he doesn't recognize.

And right now, he wants to hurt Marcus even more than he is hurting him. he wants to embarrass him and see him crumbling, because he knows that this is it. He has had enough of everyone.

"I am done with this," he shakes his head, feeling the tears that are so close to falling. "You can do what you want to do, see if I give a damn."

"Do you like him?"

"I said I don't want-" Day starts to walk away from him, but Marcus grips his arm hard.

"I am not done with you," he says. "Do you like him then? Is that why you are mad? Tell me, Day, are you mad that I have been cheating on you, or are you mad that your crush is giving someone else his attention?"

"Marcus-"

"Tell me! Because for the life of me, don't understand any of it! I have tried to ignore this little thing you have been keeping up for weeks. Following him around with your puppy eyes, begging him to notice you, see you, and love you. Are you that much of a whore for him, too?"

Slap.

Day's hot palm tingles, looking at Marcus with rage.

"No, I am not that desperate. I don't appreciate your tone either. Talking like you own me, and such. You don't own me, Marcus. I can look at whoever I want, do whatever the fuck, I want because I can. And you can go screw anyone you want to, see if I give a single fuck about you!"

"You are going to regret this Day," Marcus grits out.

"I am already regretting everything! Every single thing!"

"Keep it down," Marcus warns, but Day feels like he is going delirious.

So he shouts even more. "No, fuck you!"

"I said, keep it down, omega! Or you are going to regret this. I am not being cute."

Un. Believable.

"What did you just call me?"

They have the attention of the whole complex now.

"You are coming with me," he tries to manhandle Day, grabbing him to steer him towards the door, but Day has had enough.

"Get your hands off me, you fucker!" he stomps his loafers on his toes, making the other boy wince, unhanding him. "Don't touch me!"

"Such a dramatic bitch," Marcus mutters before he tries to take his arm again, but Day's heart is beating so fast.

He is aware that so many eyes are on him, and the whole place is dead silent as they witness his descent.

At the back of his mind, he is wondering why no one is coming to help him. Why do they all look like they are in on something he doesn't know. Like they all share a secret that only he isn't aware of.

No one is batting an eyelash at the way Marcus is manhandling him, forcing him to go with him. If anything, they seem scandalized and shocked to see him fight back.

And Marcus? Marcus is handling him like one would a child. It further enrages Day, making him scream and want to punch that smug face of his, but he has never punched anyone in his entire life.

His blood is boiling, tears now streaming down his cheeks because of the anger and frustration he feels, humiliated beyond anything he has ever known.

"Stop, stop, stop!"

He tries. He really does, when Marcus grabs him by the back of his neck, squeezing him in such a way that makes his whole body lock up in fear.

"Shut the fuck up, and do as I say."

His whole body tenses, Marcus' voice washing over him, and he finds his head nodding, agreeing to him even when all he wants to do is get away from him.

All his shouts and screams gets lodges in the back of his throat, and before he knows it, Marcus has thrown his body over his shoulder and is walking away from the swimming pool complex, towards the parking lot.

"Please," he thinks, crying now from fear, confusion, and the fact that he can't even move his body because somehow, it's uncooperative. "Please."

His feet hit the ground, and he almost falls, but his back connects to a hard chest, the contact suddenly making him feel like crying even more.

What is happening?

"the fuck do you think you are doing?" Marcus is in front of him, glaring at the person behind Day.

"I think I should ask you that."

Travis.

But Day's mind wants his body to just curl in on itself, so he crouches, face pressing on his knees.

"This is none of your business, so back off."

"It is very much my business. He doesn't want to leave with you."

"And what he wants or doesn't want is none of your concern. He is my bitch, mind your business."

Travis's whole body is hot. He is barely restricting himself from shifting and chowing on the bastard. But he can't do it, the bastard has already scruffed Day, (*) the act demeaning and also confusing to the omega who is now looking like he is out of his mind.

Just the sight of it makes Travis want to rip the boy to shreds and hang his carcass at the school gates.

"What did you just say?" he asks, stepping forward.

"Travis," Liam holds him back, but Travis yanks his arm out of his hold. "Don't."

"I said," Marcus' eyes flicker from Travis to Liam before he grins like he has won something. He takes a step forward too, meeting Travis in the middle, right in front of Day's form.

"This is my bitch, and I can do whatever the fuck I please."

Before he can even blink, Travis has his fingers wrapped around his neck, pushing his body hard against the car, so that it shakes, almost toppling over.

Day startles, screams a little before Liam takes him away from the two.

Liam doesn't know what the fuck to do. Travis is uncontrollable, and Marcus, the still grinning fucker is asking for death the longer he breathes.

"Sure about that?" Travis asks in a low voice. He squeezes, and Marcus's eyes start to dim, fear starting to shine in them.

"y-yes," Marcus hisses, hands gripping Travis' shoulders to push him off, but he can't.

"my- bitch," he grins, even when his face is turning purple, the vein on his forehead looking like it's about to burst any second now.

"Guess I will have to take him away from you then, right after I leave you with just enough breath to see me before you die, huh?" Travis smirks, eyes cold and unfeeling despite how he looks.

Liam curses from where he is standing. Travis is challenging another alpha, just like that. A duel of death, right in front of the school gates, in a modern-day world, like they are back in the old days.

He knows that things just got fucked, and there is no way that Travis is going to let Marcus live now. Once it's out there, it's already done.

One of them has to die; Travis' wolf has made the decision.

"he isn't okay," Liam tells Travis, and the alpha knows who he means.

Day.

He is pale, shaking, and still on the ground. He isn't acting like himself, like he was just a few minutes ago. And then, the small boy lifts his head, tears streaming down his face, and locks eyes with Travis.

One heartbeat.

Two.

Travis releases the pressure on his fingers, stepping back, and Marcus stumbles out of his hold, taking a few steps away from him, coughing and gasping for air, as he rubs us neck.

He doesn't even register much, not when Day is looking at him like that.

Like he wants him, but doesn't at the same time. Like he wants to say something, but he doesn't have the words for it.

Travis can see the confusion on his face. He doesn't understand what's happening, lost in all the madness. He is looking at Travis like he wants the answers to questions he doesn't know how to construct.

"Get in," a hoarse command rasps, making Day turn his head and look at Marcus, who has the door of his car open.

"No," Travis takes a step closer to Day. "Stay here. You don't have leave with him, you have a choice."

He won't get in, Travis is sure.

But Day walks towards his boyfriend, getting inside the car, not looking back even once.

Travis' heart gets colder as he watches them drive off.
