Alice's POV
The darkness was complete, suffocating. I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face.
"Daniel?" I called out, my voice shaking. I reached for Bryan but he wasn't there. "Bryan?"
"Right here," Bryan said from somewhere to my left. I heard him moving, stumbling over furniture. "Don't move. Stay where you are."
"Too late for that," Daniel's voice came from the right now, closer than before. He was moving around us in the dark. "You should have stayed away, Alice. Should have taken the money and run when you had the chance."
"The breaker box is in the hallway," Bryan said to me, his voice low. "If I can get to it"
Something crashed. Glass breaking. I jumped, my heart pounding so hard I could hear it.
"Looking for this?" A woman's voice. Sophia. She was here too. "I already destroyed it. We're going to be in the dark for a while."
I backed up slowly, trying to remember the layout of the room. The couch was behind me somewhere. If I could get to it, maybe I could...
