Chapter 2 - Ch-1 The System

Nathaniel opened his eyes. The bright sunlight suddenly entered his eyes making him shut his eyes again.

He rubbed his eyes, then slowly opened it. He blinked a few times until he adjusted to the surrounding light.

He got up and looked at his surroundings. It was a room with a lot of beds in it. Just like a school infirmary. The bed he was on, had a window on it's opposite side, making the light fall on his eyes that's how he was blinded for a moment.

But the most important question was, Where is he? Nathaniel looked down to see his clothes were changed. His clothes looked like a cosplayers clothes but it was comfortable.

He was wearing an aristocratic clothes which was made out of fine silk material. The white shirt had a pretty embroidery of golden around the puffs in the wrist. Other than that, it was plain.

His eyes went around and he saw a blue coat hanging on a hook. He got out from the bed and looked around to see if there was anyone else. Then, he grabbed the coat.

The coat was also made out of silk and it was pretty. Nathaniel wore the cost and it was the perfect size.

'Wait, the last thing i remembered was that I was talking to uncle.'

So, how did he end up here? Did he faint? It doesn't even look like a hospital that his uncle could afford. No, it doesn't even look like a hospital room.

Suddenly, a woman entered the room through the door.

"Oh? You are awake?" The woman said and she eleganty walked towards him.

Nathaniel noticed her clothes. She was wearing old fashioned clothes which go to the time when the continent was ruled by kings or emperors.

"How are you feeling, dear?" She asked.

"I am fine." He replied.

"Good. The entrance exam haven't even started, yet, you fainted just as you saw the participants list. I believe you should head out now if you don't want to miss the exam."

"Pardon?" He asked confused. What entrance exam? He doesn't even go to school! He can't even apply for college! What is this entrance exam?

Most importantly, when did his uncle apply for him? How was he able to do so? Also, he was talking to him at night not during day. This means he either fell asleep or was knocked out.

"What entrance exam?" He asked.

The lady looked at him in surprise. No one has ever asked her more stupid question than this.

"Well, Velkros Academy entrance exam." She said.

Nathaniel looked at her as if he heard that most surprising thing in the world. It must have been a joke. He couldn't believe it.

Natheniel was an author of a novel. No, he was just another writer writing down a story and publishing it online only to get bot views and comments.

The story which he hoped would attract both female and male readers. A fantasy romance story about Y/N. She was the main character who grew up in a poor family but then, she was sold to the house of a Baron who recognised her talent and send her to Velkros Academy.

The same Velkros Academy where young people with magic and swordmanship talent were nutured.

So, he transmigrated into his own book? Of course he had read stories like this before where the main character gets transmigratted into their own book or the book they are reading. But it was just fictional. Not real.

So why is this happening?

"Velkros Academy of Magic and swordsmanship?" He asked the nurse.

"Yeah. Is there any other Velkros Academy in the whole continent?" The nurse asked.

"No. Thank you. I should go." He said as he went out of the infirmary.

But the main problem was, how to reach the place where entrance exam was taking?

The entrance exam would take place on the Yivor forest.

Yes, the same old entrance exam where the main character has to survive in the forest full of monsters and people were admitted based on this.

To be honest, the story that he wrote was the same old cliché. Nothing was new except for the fact the main character was female and was named. It was named after the readers who were reading this.

"I do remember placing a map of academy somewhere here." Nathaniel muttered to himself while placing his hand on the wall outside the infirmary.

There was a map of the academy outside every room of the academy. But it required mana to access.

'wait a minute! There should be a status window!' he thought.

This made him excited. He could know what are the talents and limits of his body. Every story that he had read had the main character be either very useless or very powerful. In rare cases, they had average talent. But they all the cheat codes.

But, Nathaniel hadn't made any cheat code or stuff like that. So, it would be very difficult for him to survive in the academy.

He was nervous. But, he had to see if had the talent or not. He could just withdraw out of the academy if he did not have the talent and live his life on the street. He gathered courage.

"Status window." He spoke out.

[Name- Nathaniel Hale

Age- 17

Birthday- 19 December 2006

Talent- Growth III, multi-casting

Specialisation-Gravity magic

Skills-[]]

He stared at his status window. He had Growth III. Which means he has a great talent! Along with multi-casting! Both of them are incredibly rare!

He specialises in Gravity magic which is already rare to have! His talent can be considered powerful but, looking at the skill section, he's disappointed. His body doesn't have a skill that he's learnt. So, how could he survive?

Maybe it's because, he didn't take on a body. His body got into the world along with his concious. In novels or manhwa's, most of the time, the main character gets into the world by taking another body but in his case, his orignal body had entered in the novel.

"Ahh! How will I even survive!?" Nathaniel blurted out in frustration.

But he had to try. He didn't know how to use mana and all. So, he can't simply just use magic.

He closed his eyes and tried to focus. Suddenly he felt something cool. His heart felt envoloped with cool wind continuously blowing.

"Oh? What the heck!?" He said as he opened his eyes.

It only took him a minute to find mana. Was finding the mana always so easy? In his case, since he's a mage, his mana is located in his heart.

'Can i do this?' He thought and looked at the wall.

Then he bought his hand out and placed it on the wall.

A map appeared on the wall where he placed his hand.

"It worked!" He said.

[Congratulations Author from another world]

The system message floated infront of him. It felt dangerous. He never knew his own world's system could messgae like this. It never did to Y/N

This system knew he was from another world.

"Who are you? Did you bring me here?" Nathaniel asked.

[Yes.]

The three words were enough to shook Nathaniel. He had many questions to ask but he knew from his experience that system would not answer him.

"Why did you bring me here?" He asked.

[Classified :)]

'A smiley face?'

Was it a man or who was an administrator or a reader of his novel?

He couldn't decide.

"Are you an administrator or a reader? Or are you a god?" Nathaniel asked.

[None.]

None? So who could it be? Could it be that the system itself is concious?

[I am the child of the Goddess]

Nathaniel eyes widened. The Goddess of this world is Livia.... The same Goddess Livia who he used to worship in the cult.

Since, it referred itself as the child of the Goddess then, it's the same child who possess the power of 'death'

"So, death and sorrow. That's who you are?"

[Yes. But not exactly.]

"...Why did you bring me here? Is this the punishment for not writing the Sigils?" Nathaniel asked.

He couldn't believe he was talking a God. Well, the child of the Goddess.

[Not exactly, you will figure it out by yourself]

'Now, what is that supposed to mean?'

If he really is the child of Goddess it could complicate things. He left the cult, so why is the child of Goddess involving him?

"I am not a part of that cult."

[I know.]

Then what does it want?

"Is this world ending? Do you want me to change its ending or entertain you? Or do I have to fight and help you for something?"

There was no reply. Is it mad? Or is it typing? Nathaniel didn't know if he should have sounded more polite or rude.

[None. I want you to figure it all by yourself]

"Great! Just great!" Nathaniel muttered out. He considered this possibility.

[But I am always there. Call out to me when you need me. My name is ¿V/#?

"Uhh inverted question mark, v, slash hashtag?"

[You will find out on your own]

[Call me 'System']

"Oh. Alright then. System. So, how can I get skills?"

[By learning them]

"Oh, great! That helped me lot!" He said.

[...]

What does that mean? Is he angry? Or he's disappointed?

"Uhh so System? How do I go to the training ground?" Nathaniel asked but there was no reply.

"Uhh System? System?" He called out but the system didn't reply.

'Oh great!'

The system wasn't replying to him anymore. Even if it said he's always there. The system must be not replying on purpose.

He had to figure out how he should go back.
