Chapter 64: How Much Blood Are You Willing to Shed for Your Beloved?
Only then did Uchiha Obito finally breathe a sigh of relief.
But the wave of excruciating pain that followed made him clutch desperately at the empty, ruined socket where his left eye used to be. He let out a series of agonized, guttural growls through clenched teeth.
Pain!
God, it hurt so much!
Gouging out his own eye had been an unimaginable agony—far worse than anything he'd experienced in his entire life.
Blood continued trickling down through his fingers, mixed with bits of shredded, translucent crystal fragments—the remains of his Sharingan lens.
"Wait for me... Rin..."
Obito took several deep, shuddering breaths to ease the pain even slightly. His remaining right eye blazed crimson as three tomoe slowly rotated within it—his Sharingan fully awakened at last through this trauma.
His gaze hardened with absolute resolve.
"I will definitely get you out of here. No matter what happens, I'll make sure nothing happens to you!"
It had to be said—in certain extreme situations, being hopelessly in love wasn't entirely useless.
"That damn puppet! Jigsaw, I'll remember this!" Obito's hatred burned white-hot as he clutched his missing eye, groping along the cold wall in the darkness. "Once I get Rin out of here, I'll definitely make Brother Kazuki help me get revenge!"
But at least... at least he had finally awakened his Sharingan.
The thought gave him a grim sense of satisfaction despite everything.
Filled with righteous anger and burning determination, Obito cautiously made his way through the pitch-black darkness, using the wall as his guide.
After walking about ten meters or so, he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, straining to listen.
"I think... there's a sound?"
Obito held his breath and pressed his ear flat against the wall. Through the metal and concrete, he vaguely heard a faint sobbing sound coming from somewhere not too far away.
Although it wasn't very clear, he was absolutely certain—the voice belonged to a woman.
A woman's voice?
Obito's expression changed instantly. His heart leaped—it might be Rin!
He couldn't stay calm any longer. Abandoning all caution, he ran wildly through the suffocating darkness, following the direction of the sound burned into his memory.
"Wait for me, Rin! I'm coming to save you!"
After turning a corner, he spotted a heavy iron door at the end of a corridor.
There was a small barred window set into the door, allowing limited visibility into the room beyond.
Obito immediately pressed his face against the cold metal bars, his remaining Sharingan eye straining to see through the window.
And there—there she was!
His beloved first love, Nohara Rin, was bound to an iron chair in exactly the same way he had been. But unlike his torture, Rin had something far more grotesque covering her head.
A massive, mechanical contraption—resembling a beast's iron jaw with razor-sharp teeth—completely encased the lower half of her face. The device looked like it could snap shut at any moment.
"RIN!"
Upon seeing Rin's current state, Obito completely lost control. He shouted frantically, his voice cracking with desperation:
"I'm here, Rin! Are you alright?! Please tell me you're okay!"
He grabbed the door handle and pulled with all his strength, but found it firmly locked from the inside.
"Mmmmph! Mmmph!"
With the grotesque jaw device covering her mouth, Rin couldn't speak at all. She could only stare wide-eyed at Obito, tears streaming freely down her cheeks.
Her beautiful eyes were filled with absolute terror. Her entire body trembled violently against the restraints.
Seeing her like this, Obito felt his heart nearly shatter into pieces.
His fingers clenched into white-knuckled fists. Gritting his teeth so hard his jaw ached, he declared:
"Wait for me, Rin! I'll get you out of there right now! I promise!"
With that vow, he immediately took several steps back and rapidly formed hand seals:
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Pfft!
But the expected massive fireball never appeared.
The burning sensation building in his throat seemed to be instantly extinguished by some invisible force, leaving only a pathetic wisp of smoke drifting from his lips.
"Why... why can't I use ninjutsu?!"
Only then did Obito realize with growing horror that his chakra seemed to be completely sealed by some unknown power.
A ninja unable to use chakra was essentially crippled—like losing both arms!
"Even if I can't use ninjutsu, I'll still get you out, Rin!"
Obito refused to give up. He decided to try a different method.
Fortunately, that damned puppet hadn't confiscated his basic ninja tools.
He pulled out a kunai from his pouch, located the door's heavy bolt mechanism, and began chopping at it with all his strength.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Sparks flew everywhere with each strike.
The immense force of the metal-on-metal impacts sent painful shocks up his arm, nearly knocking the kunai from his grip entirely.
Obito looked down at his hand—the webbing between his thumb and index finger had split open from the repeated impacts. Blood seeped through his fingers.
Worse still, examining the bolt revealed only shallow scratches. This method clearly wouldn't be enough to break through the heavy iron gate.
Just then, that familiar, unsettling voice echoed from inside the room.
Obito quickly pressed his head back against the barred window and peered desperately inside.
"Hello, Nohara Rin."
That familiar mechanical voice rang out once more.
Jigsaw—riding that same rusty tricycle—slowly emerged from the shadows like a nightmare made manifest.
The puppet's eerie white face mask turned stiffly toward the window. Its bloodshot eyes locked directly onto Obito's gaze. The mechanical jaw moved up and down as that low, hoarse voice emerged:
"I want to play a game with you."
"Mmmmmph! MMMPH!"
Nohara Rin's muffled screams of terror filled the room. Tears streamed down her face as she tried desperately to speak through the device.
"Get out here, Jigsaw!"
Obito slammed his fist against the iron door, his head pressed against the bars, his bloodshot Sharingan eye blazing with fury as he glared at the puppet.
"Come at me if you have a problem! I won't allow you to lay a single finger on Rin! You hear me?!"
But unfortunately, his threats were completely useless.
Jigsaw continued speaking as if Obito hadn't said anything at all:
"The device currently attached to Rin's face is called the Reverse Bear Trap. If it's not removed within the allotted time, it will tear her entire jaw—and the rest of her skull—completely apart."
The puppet paused to let that sink in.
"The upper and lower jaws will be split in opposite directions with enough force to shatter bone."
Rin's pupils contracted to pinpoints. She twisted her body desperately against the restraints in absolute terror, frantically shaking her head, trying to dislodge the horrific machine.
Jigsaw's neck rotated stiffly—unnaturally—a full half-circle to look directly at the struggling girl.
"Unfortunately, Rin, the power to decide whether you live or die is not in your hands."
The puppet's tone remained eerily calm.
"That power rests entirely with Uchiha Obito outside this door. His choices will determine your fate—whether you live... or die."
"What game?! Just tell me already!"
Having already experienced one of these twisted trials, Obito had developed a general understanding of how this worked.
As long as he followed this monster's rules and played the game according to its conditions, Rin would be safe. She had to be.
In fact, when he heard that he would be the one participating in the game, Obito felt a strange, twisted sense of relief.
At least this way, Rin wouldn't have to suffer. He could bear it for her.
"Whatever sick game you've designed, bring it on!"
Through the heavy iron door and barred window, Obito stared coldly at Jigsaw with his remaining Sharingan eye:
"I swear on my life—I won't let Rin get hurt! Do you hear me?! I WON'T LET HER DIE!"
"You've already proven your will once," Jigsaw acknowledged, that mechanical voice containing a hint of what might have been amusement. "You were willing to sacrifice one of your precious Sharingan eyes."
The puppet tilted its head slightly.
"But now I'd like to know... Uchiha Obito, do you possess the resolve to give up your other eye for this woman?"
The other eye?
Upon hearing Jigsaw's demand, Obito felt as if the floor had dropped out from beneath him.
He stood frozen outside the door, completely stunned.
Even Rin—still strapped to the chair inside—couldn't help but widen her eyes in shock, looking at Obito through the window. Her expression showed both fear and desperate confusion, silently pleading with him not to do it.
"Since you never learned to cherish your natural gifts, then perhaps it's time to return them."
Jigsaw's icy voice echoed through the room with mechanical precision.
"You have exactly one minute to gouge out your remaining eye. Place it on the scale in the adjacent room, and you'll unlock a special collection device. After filling that device with a sufficient quantity of your blood, an acid container holding the key will be released."
The puppet paused, letting the instructions sink in.
"You must then retrieve the acid-soaked key from the container, return to this room, and use it to unlock the reverse bear trap device attached to her head."
Jigsaw's blood-red eyes seemed to bore into Obito's very soul.
"Tell me, Uchiha Obito—how much blood are you willing to shed for your beloved? I'm genuinely curious to find out."
The tricycle creaked as the puppet began to turn away.
"Now then... it's time to prove yourself."
Just before disappearing back into the shadows, Jigsaw added one final warning:
"Oh, and one more thing—you'll want to hurry. The acid will dissolve the key very, very quickly. If you take too long retrieving it..."
The puppet's voice faded into the darkness.
"Well, I suppose we'll find out what happens then, won't we?"
The mechanical laughter that followed was the most chilling sound Obito had ever heard.
[End of Chapter 64]
Author's Note:
The horror escalates! Now Obito is faced with an impossible choice—sacrifice his last remaining eye (including his newly awakened Sharingan) to save Rin, or let her die.
This is psychological torture at its absolute worst. Jigsaw's "games" are designed not just to cause physical pain, but to force people to confront what they truly value. For Obito, whose entire identity revolves around:
His feelings for Rin
His desire to be recognized as a strong ninja
His newly awakened Sharingan
...this choice is absolutely devastating. Give up his Sharingan—the source of his clan's pride and power—or watch the girl he loves die horribly?
And even if he makes the sacrifice, he'll be permanently blind. A blind ninja is essentially finished. His entire career, his dreams of becoming Hokage—all gone.
But we know Obito. We know what choice he's going to make.
Questions:
Will Obito actually go through with removing his second eye?
How will permanent blindness affect his future as a ninja?
Is there any way to beat Jigsaw's game without following the rules?
What happens when (if?) they escape this genjutsu nightmare?
The psychological damage from this experience will be catastrophic and permanent, even if the physical injuries aren't real.
Drop your reactions! This is brutal!
