Chapter 54: Let's Give Obito Some Intensity
The next day, around noon.
Uchiha Kazuki leisurely made his way toward the training grounds in the mountains behind Konoha.
Last night, Obito had suddenly shown up at his door. Having apparently heard rumors about the reformed Chunin Exams from Minato, he'd desperately begged Kazuki to help train him.
Originally, Uchiha Kazuki had intended to refuse.
After all, he didn't particularly like Obito—that was reason enough.
Secondly, wasting time training Obito seemed far less productive than visiting Konoha Hospital to find patients who could help him complete system tasks.
But he couldn't resist Obito's persistent pleading and eventually changed his mind.
Training?
No, no, no—he didn't know how to train people. He only knew how to beat them senseless!
Since it was Obito's request, he'd take this opportunity to work out some of his frustrations.
Soon, he arrived at the training grounds.
Nohara Rin, Uchiha Obito, and Kakashi—whose head was still wrapped in bandages—had been waiting there for quite some time.
"You're so late, Brother Kazuki!" Obito glared at him resentfully. Didn't I specifically tell you yesterday it was supposed to be this morning? Morning!
"Sorry, Obito. Something came up and I got delayed."
Kazuki smiled, though his expression showed not a trace of actual apology. "But I'm here now. Besides, training you three doesn't require me to arrive early."
"What do you mean 'doesn't require arriving early'?!"
The straightforward Obito immediately retorted. Especially with Rin standing right there watching, he absolutely couldn't afford to lose face. He declared stubbornly, "Brother Kazuki, don't underestimate us!"
"It means exactly what I said."
Kazuki's smile remained gentle as his gaze swept across all three faces. He spoke calmly. "Before we officially begin, there's something I need to make clear. Although Obito invited me to train you, I don't really know how to train people properly. There's only one thing I can teach you."
He paused deliberately.
His eyes narrowed slightly as he said meaningfully, "My training methods are rather... special. I hope you can endure them."
Where had he seen that look before?
Kakashi, his head still wrapped in bandages, felt his eye twitch. A sudden sense of unease rose in his chest.
Obito unconsciously shrank back, puzzled as to why he suddenly felt chilled despite the warm weather.
"Mr. Kazuki, don't worry!"
Only the innocent Nohara Rin maintained her determined expression. "We definitely won't disappoint you! No matter what kind of training it is, we'll persevere to the end!"
"Excellent."
Uchiha Kazuki nodded, giving the girl an appreciative look. "Very good. I like children with courage."
Kakashi's sense of unease intensified, his lips twitching. He suddenly regretted coming along with Obito.
But it was too late to back out now. He had no choice but to grit his teeth and see it through.
"Your training is very simple—just one objective."
Uchiha Kazuki held up a single finger. "Before sunset, land a single wound on me. Any method is acceptable."
"Hahaha, that's it?"
Hearing such a straightforward condition, Obito immediately felt confident. He patted his chest boastfully. "Brother Kazuki, you're seriously underestimating me! Landing just one measly wound is—"
WHAM!
Before he could finish his sentence, Obito was sent flying like a cannonball.
He crashed heavily into a tree trunk, stuck to it like a piece of wall art for a few seconds, then slowly peeled off and slid down to the ground.
The sudden attack completely stunned him. It wasn't until his entire body felt like it was falling apart that he regained his senses—nearly vomiting up both his bile and his breakfast.
"Oh, I seem to have forgotten to mention something."
Uchiha Kazuki maintained his kicking stance, his gentle smile never wavering as he glanced at the dumbfounded Nohara Rin and Kakashi beside him. "The training has already begun."
Before his words even finished echoing, Kakashi explosively released chakra from his legs, grabbed the still-dazed Nohara Rin, and dove into the nearby forest.
"A very smart choice."
Uchiha Kazuki adjusted his glasses, his eyes narrowing. "When facing an opponent you know you can't defeat, first conceal your presence, then wait for an opportunity to strike—truly worthy of being called a genius Chunin."
"Cough... cough... Ow... that hurts!"
Obito clutched his stomach, his face contorted in pain as he stared at Kazuki in shock and disbelief. "Brother Kazuki... wasn't this supposed to be training? Why did you ambush me?!"
"Ambush? Obito, do you think shinobi combat is a game?"
Uchiha Kazuki slowly walked toward him. "No. Shinobi battles are matters of life and death. If you don't even have that level of awareness, I strongly suggest you give up being a ninja right now."
"I already know that without you telling me!"
Though still unconvinced, Obito had grasped the general rules of this "training." He pulled out a kunai and gritted his teeth. "So you want me to treat you as an enemy? Fine!"
BOOM!
Dust billowed as Obito actually chose to charge straight ahead.
"A frontal assault?"
Uchiha Kazuki's expression remained unchanged, curious to see what tricks the boy might have up his sleeve.
When Obito closed to about ten meters, he suddenly stopped and threw a smoke bomb. As thick yellow smoke enveloped the area, his figure disappeared within it.
Fwip fwip fwip—
The next moment, rapidly spinning shuriken flew out from within the smoke screen.
Uchiha Kazuki didn't even bother looking. With a casual backhand throw of several shuriken, he knocked them down mid-flight at identical angles.
But just then, from within the billowing smoke, a dozen small fireballs shaped like flower buds shot toward him.
"Using smoke to conceal your ninjutsu—not a bad idea, but..."
Uchiha Kazuki barely glanced at the attack and chuckled softly. "Such obvious tactics will only expose your position!"
The Phoenix Flower Jutsu flames struck their target, exploding into a shower of sparks.
However, to Obito's horror, the Uchiha Kazuki who'd been hit transformed into a puff of white smoke.
"Damn it, it's a Shadow Clone!" Kakashi, hidden in the shadows, narrowed his visible eye.
Obito realized he'd been tricked, but before he could reposition himself, he felt an intense chill run down his spine—an endless coldness crawling up his back.
CRACK!
An extremely heavy fist slammed directly into his face.
Obito was knocked flat by the punch, his head smashing into the ground so hard his mind went completely blank for several seconds.
Uchiha Kazuki had no intention of stopping there. He clenched his fist again, slowly gathering his strength as a terrifying smile played across his lips. "As payment for your carelessness, I'll make sure your body remembers this lesson deeply."
BOOM!
Another punch—showing absolutely no mercy whatsoever—drove Obito half an inch deeper into the ground.
A massive wave of dust erupted from the surrounding earth, and nearby trees trembled violently, shedding leaves from their canopies. The sheer destructive power behind that punch was terrifying.
"Obito!"
Nohara Rin finally couldn't hold back any longer. Disregarding the risk of exposing her position, she rushed out from hiding. "Mr. Kazuki, you're going too—"
However, the moment she emerged, she met Uchiha Kazuki's eyes directly.
"Found you!"
Those eyes were no longer gentle as before, but filled with absolutely terrifying killing intent.
"Ah!"
Nohara Rin froze completely, paralyzed by that overwhelming bloodlust.
But Uchiha Kazuki showed no mercy. He stomped the ground, his violent chakra shattering the earth around him. Like a ferocious predator, he streaked through the air in the blink of an eye, lunging straight at the petrified Nohara Rin.
Obito, whose mind was still reeling from the beating, saw his beloved about to be struck.
CRACK!
The punch landed with devastating force.
Even from several meters away, Obito could clearly hear the sickening sound of her cheekbone fracturing under the impact.
Blood sprayed from Rin's mouth as Uchiha Kazuki twisted his waist mid-motion and delivered a devastating Leaf Whirlwind kick to her abdomen while she was still airborne.
BOOM!
The intense pain in her stomach caused Rin's consciousness to briefly shut down entirely.
The next instant, she rocketed through the air like a cannonball, carving a trench half a meter wide across the grassy training field before finally skidding to a stop.
At that moment, Kakashi—still hiding in the shadows—suddenly recognized a disturbingly familiar pattern.
That's it!
That's exactly how he beat me up back then! It's identical!
