Chapter 203 - [205] Unlocking Aguamenti – The Rubik's Cube Revelation

Vizette and Luna descended the movable stairs and jogged to the greenhouse located outside the castle.

The door to the first greenhouse was open. Vizette led Luna forward to the second greenhouse, where a busy figure could be seen in the distance.

Sprout had also gotten up very early, holding a pot of fertilizer that shimmered with a blue light, to fertilize the plants in the greenhouse.

That was a souvenir that Vizette had brought back from Sweden, dragon dung from a Swedish Short-Snout.

Sprout was very interested in all kinds of plants and herbs, and to her, a large bag of high-quality dragon dung would be a wonderful gift.

"Vizette, good morning!" She saw Vizette and Luna running towards her, put the little shovel back into the dragon dung basin, and waved with a smile. "And the lovely girl...you're Luna, right?"

Vizette greeted her with a smile, "Good morning, Professor Sprout!"

Luna bowed and said, "Hello, Professor Sprout, I am Luna."

"I often hear Vizette mention you…" Sprout smiled kindly. "Are you here to see that Dirigible Plum tree? I'll take you there…"

"Professor Sprout, it's mainly because Luna just left home, so she's not used to it yet. So we plan to…" Vizette quickly stepped forward and briefly explained the situation in the garden.

"So that's how you adjust to life here?" Sprout's smile widened. "You're a young lady who enjoys life..."

"Let's help out! We have all the tools we need... By the way! How are those color-changing Christmas cacti? Are they easy to care for?"

Luna picked up a small shovel, followed Sprout, and nodded with a smile: "They're very easy to care for, and very lively..."

"Professor Sprout, actually I drew them all, but I didn't bring my sketchbook with me. I'll bring it to you next time."

Sprout was thrilled. "That's wonderful! I can't wait!"

Luna and Sprout were fertilizing with shovels, while Vizette held his wand in his hand, chanting, "Aguamenti!"

Two people fertilized the plants while one person watered them. The three of them worked in the second greenhouse and soon the plants were well taken care of.

"Aguamenti – a very useful spell." Sprout looked at Vizette and smiled.

"Being able to freely manipulate the water flow shows that you are quite proficient in using this spell."

"By the way, if I asked you to use Aguamenti to create a batch of 'pure water,' could you try?"

"I've tried this before." Vizette nodded. "I don't think plants need pure water, so I didn't make any adjustments, I just controlled the water flow."

"I'm no longer surprised by the surprises you bring," Sprout said with a smile, picking up her wand. "Aguamenti is a basic spell…"

"You went to Sweden during the summer vacation... I remember that's the birthplace of Aguamenti... Vizette, did you learn Aguamenti step by step from the earliest ritual magic?"

"Absolutely right, Professor Sprout." Vizette nodded repeatedly.

"Ah, then it seems Professor Sprout deserves five extra points." Sprout joked with a smile, "Since you learned Aguamenti in this way…"

"So your understanding of Aguamenti must be quite profound. Can I take this opportunity to share some advanced knowledge with you? Would you be willing to listen to my rambling?"

Vizette nodded repeatedly, "I couldn't be happier, Professor Sprout!"

Sprout looked at Luna, "Luna, if you don't understand, you can come and ask me later... but I think Vizette would be happy to answer your questions."

"I will, Professor Sprout." Luna nodded with a smile, then winked at Vizette.

"That's great." Sprout cleared her throat. "Aguamenti is a basic spell. Since you started learning it on your own with ritual magic, you should understand what I mean."

"Since it's the foundation, it means it has many variations. It can not only adjust the purity of the water itself, but also be combined with other spells to extend its uses further. Do you understand this?"

Vizette nodded, immediately thinking of Flitwick's magical demonstration, "For example, Aguamenti combined with an ice spell?"

"Yes, it's a classic spell combination." Sprout nodded. "It seems Filius has already demonstrated it to you. It should still be a wandless and silent casting. I won't embarrass myself by showing it to you."

"Back to Aguamenti, the reason we only learned it in sixth year was to expand its application. We can combine it with other spells to achieve different effects."

"It's like a Rubik's Cube... You guys should know what a Rubik's Cube is, right? It's a Muggle toy. I once received a Christmas present that included a Rubik's Cube. It was a really interesting toy."

"I know!" Vizette and Luna nodded in unison. They had seen similar things when they were shopping at the department store before.

"That's good," Sprout continued. "Let's use the Rubik's Cube as an analogy. A fully restored Rubik's Cube is like the most basic Aguamenti."

"During the restoration process, the colorful patterns that appear on the Rubik's Cube are equivalent to the addition of other magic. In the end, what is presented is still the restored Rubik's Cube, which is the spell of Aguamenti itself..."

"For example, when we add the fire-starting spell... it's like the red side of a Rubik's Cube... but it's still a Rubik's Cube, the main body hasn't changed... reach out and feel it... Aguamenti!"

This was a very clever analogy; at least Vizette could establish the corresponding concepts and absorb as much of the knowledge Sprout had to offer.

A Rubik's Cube was a three-dimensional puzzle composed of many small pieces, each of which could be rotated independently. The ultimate goal was to make the colors on each face uniform.

As Sprout said, no matter how the colors changed or how the pattern was scrambled, it was still a Rubik's Cube in the end.

Just as adding other magic to Aguamenti did not change the fact that it was still Aguamenti.

Vizette realized that this theory could also be understood through the lens of transfiguration magic; no matter how much magic was added, Aguamenti retained its essence.

Moreover, this theory had room for further research and could be applied to more magical knowledge.

There was a sense that different paths led to the same destination; whatever approach you chose to understand something, as long as it led to positive progress, it was a suitable way to understand it.

Sprout's deep knowledge of Aguamenti stemmed from her love of herbology, which led her to study other spells so she could better care for various plants.

To avoid certain extreme situations, she could even imbue Aguamenti with magical potion effects, using it as temporary fertilizer.

Unbeknownst to them, the morning sun shone even brighter, and the sleeping Hogwarts Castle was awakening.

Footsteps came from the direction of the first greenhouse, and Hannah Abbott appeared at the door.

"Good morning, Professor Sprout..." Hannah looked around the second greenhouse and exclaimed with some surprise, "Vizette, what are you doing here?"

Sprout chuckled and said, "He and Luna came to help too. I thought today would be quite busy, but since you all came, my day is much easier!"
