Chapter 159 - [160] The Blood-Cursed Werewolf Circus

Sweden has long days, which caused Vizette and his team to lose track of time and search until after 7 p.m. before finally returning to Ominis.

Ominis sat quietly on a wooden chair by the pond, his head slightly lowered, as if listening to everything around him.

Hearing the three people's footsteps, he slowly stood up. "It's getting late. You must be very tired. Why don't we go back first?"

Xenophilius lowered his head, looked at Luna, and asked softly, "Honey, what do you think?"

Luna turned and looked at the pond again, then nodded and said softly, "Okay, Dad."

Vizette deactivated the Magia Revelio. After this journey, apart from collecting a considerable amount of ancient magical power, he had not gained anything else.

The Wizarding Guide to Combat absorbed these ancient magical powers, yet no new pages appeared.

Ominis waved his wand, and the wooden chair behind him turned to stone. "I'll be back tomorrow."

"We can go to the other side of the jungle and see the wizard's ruins, the place where Odin once rested."

They didn't feel it while searching for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, but when they embarked on their return journey, they felt sore all over.

Vizette used healing magic to help relieve Luna's joint pain.

He then looked at Xenophilius and asked if he needed healing magic.

Xenophilius shook his head, rubbing his lower back as he said, "I'm not old yet! I can stay there until dark without any problem!"

Luna moved closer to Vizette and said softly, "Teacher Vizette, could you teach me how to cast healing magic?"

"Let's wait until we get back to the hotel!" Vizette nodded with a smile. "I'll find my notes and summarize them first."

Luna smiled slightly and said, "Okay!"

Ominis continued to wave his wand, a satisfied smile on his face.

The four returned to the hotel. The other guests had already had dinner and went back to rest or to see the magic circus performance; none of them stayed in the lobby.

"Scourgify!" Anne Saru waved her wand, brushing the dust off the four of them. "Welcome back. Did you find the Crumple-Horned Snorkack?"

Ominis shook his head slightly. "Just like our initial search, it seems... to have disappeared."

"That's such a shame!" Anne Saru sighed regretfully. "Come and sit down, everyone! Dinner is ready."

Not only was the hotel's decor very similar to Hogwarts, but the food was too; at least, Vizette couldn't tell the difference.

After drizzling the gravy over the mashed potatoes, Xenophilius stirred it as he asked, "Ms. Saru, you must all be English, right? Did you also attend Hogwarts before?"

"We really like Hogwarts…" Anne Saru nodded gently. "Perhaps most English wizards have a deep impression of life at Hogwarts, don't they?"

"Besides, I've never really gotten used to Swedish food, so naturally I'm trying to recreate the taste of Hogwarts. But I only know a few dishes, so the taste should be... passable, right?"

"It tastes wonderful!" Xenophilius exclaimed. "It's so comforting to be able to eat familiar dishes while traveling in a foreign country!"

"By the way! Ms. Saru, do you know any interesting stories about this village? I happened to see you when I came here by boat today."

"I remember you were holding white lilies, standing on the lake. You must be a witch who is skilled in magic, right?"

"The reason I'm asking is mainly because... I'm also very curious about the magic that let you stand on the lake."

"Oh, is that so?" Anne Saru looked somewhat surprised, but her gaze subtly swept over Vizette.

Seeing that Anne Saru didn't intend to continue, Xenophilius coughed lightly and introduced himself.

"I'm the editor-in-chief of a newspaper. Since I'm here on vacation, of course I want to gather some material. If Ms. Saru doesn't want to talk about it, that's fine too. I'm just curious."

Anne Saru waved her hand. "It's not that I can't talk about it, but this happened a long time ago, and the wizards in the village probably don't know about it anymore."

Xenophilius put down his spoon. "A long time ago?"

Vizette and Luna did similar things, putting down their cutlery.

"The Wizarding World War…you probably didn't experience it, did you?" Anne Saru rested her chin on her hand. "Back then, a circus came to the village, a circus made up of werewolves."

"Besides the regular magic performances, the most attractive thing was of course the shapeshifting magic. They could transform from human to beast with ease, just like an Animagus."

"Of course... it wasn't just that. Werewolves had clearer minds; they were practically animals with human souls hidden inside them. They could perform even more difficult acts..."

"Werewolves?" Xenophilius stroked his chin, then looked at Vizette. "This is the first time I've heard of… this kind of wizard."

"I've read about the records of werewolves," Vizette coughed lightly. "It's a curse that can be passed down through families, and it's said to be irreversible or impossible to remove."

"Although werewolves can maintain their sanity at first, as they get older, the effects of the curse will increase, eventually turning them into beasts and losing all reason."

"You actually know about werewolves? What a learned little wizard." Anne Saru had a playful look on her face. "You're absolutely right."

Luna said softly, "They must be in so much pain, and their families must be in so much pain too."

"But I think... they must be trying to make themselves happy, otherwise they wouldn't have started a circus."

Anne Saru's eyes showed a hint of appreciation as she continued, "It was during wartime, and given the unique nature of the werewolves, their lives weren't very good."

"Nevertheless, they hid their pain and showed the positive side, forming a circus to bring a touch of joy to the Swedish magical world shrouded in the shadow of war."

"However, such ostentatious behavior caused unnecessary trouble. At that time, Grindelwald's followers also had werewolves who assisted the Grindelwald's party leader in completing many important tasks."

"The wizards who were hostile to Grindelwald's followers hated him, but they couldn't do anything to the werewolves... so they set their sights on the circus to vent their anger."

Xenophilius exclaimed angrily, "What a despicable act!"

Anne Saru gave a cold laugh. "To avoid controversy, these wizards didn't directly target the circus. They simply destroyed the hidden magic around it and then contacted the Muggles."

"At that time, it wasn't just wizards fighting; Muggles were also killing each other. Under the influence of wizards and with fabricated evidence, Muggles sent an army into the island..."
