Chapter 64 - [64] Sincerity's Unbreakable Edge

"Not entirely," Dumbledore explained. "An Obscurial not only signifies danger, but also… that you come from the Muggle world."

"Some pure-blood families still don't understand that the theory of bloodline is nothing but an absurd consolation, and that wizards will never become the masters of this world."

"However, in order to highlight the exclusivity of wizards, these families became extremely exclusive and hostile to all Muggles, as well as wizards born from Muggles."

"They just forgot that pure-blood wizards are becoming increasingly rare. Even in the magical world, half-blood wizards or wizards from the Muggle world have become the mainstream."

After hearing Dumbledore's words, Vizette felt a sense of absurdity. "Pure-blood theory...it is indeed quite ridiculous."

The so-called pure-blood theory is very similar to the "racial superiority theories" he knew in his previous life. Going further, there is even the so-called "one-drop rule."

Fortunately, at Hogwarts, the concept of bloodline only prevailed within Slytherin.

Perhaps it is for this reason that they are alienated from other houses.

"Yes, what a ridiculous theory. It's becoming less and less popular in the wizarding world…" Dumbledore nodded in agreement, "So they went on a final mad spree, and Voldemort was born."

Vizette was somewhat incredulous. "Voldemort was... nominated by a pure-blood family?"

"Their relationship is very complicated." Dumbledore shook his head slightly. "Voldemort's upbringing was very special, which made him a supporter of the pure-blood theory."

"When Voldemort rose to power, the pure-blood families realized this and began to support him in order to maintain their family's power and status."

"Because they shared similar ideals, they hit it off and grew together. Voldemort became You-Know-Who, and members of the pure-blood family became Death Eaters."

"The wizarding world went through a dark period until Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter and disappeared, and peace returned."

"And now I have to tell you... Voldemort is back, and he's not only eyeing Harry Potter, but also you."

Vizette's eyelids twitched. "Trying to take advantage of me?"

"Yes!" Dumbledore nodded emphatically.

"So... he was the one who ordered that troll, but why?" Vizette frowned, then suddenly realized something. "Or is it because I'm an Obscurial?"

Dumbledore smiled with satisfaction. "You are very perceptive."

He noticed that after learning of Voldemort's return, Vizette did not show panic, but instead began to think and quickly came to an answer.

This is a rare quality, and it's a major reason why he values Vizette.

He saw the shadows of many people in Vizette... not only Ariana, but also himself.

Since Vizette had not betrayed Snape's trust, Dumbledore decided to provide more information.

His expression turned serious. "Vizette, I have to tell you something, and I hope you're mentally prepared."

Vizette sensed the change in Dumbledore's expression and nodded solemnly, "Of course!"

"I only realized Voldemort had returned after I made contact with Quirrell. In other words... this operation was very likely carried out by Quirrell."

"Professor Quirrell…!" Vizette's eyes widened, and he swallowed hard. "How could it be him?"

He found it hard to believe that a professor who had taught him everything he knew could be connected to Voldemort and even put him in danger.

Dumbledore remarked, "It is perfectly normal to go astray; many people go through similar experiences."

This statement seemed to be meant to comfort Vizette, but it also sounded like a monologue.

"I've been observing Quirrell. Since he came back from his vacation, his behavior has become increasingly strange, and he doesn't interact much with the people around him."

"Just when I thought he might not be able to turn back and would run headlong into the abyss, a turning point finally appeared."

Vizette pointed to himself and said, "Is it me?"

"Of course," Dumbledore smiled. "You and he are both Ravenclaws, which is a wonderful coincidence."

"How could it be Professor Quirrell?" Vizette was still full of questions. "If Voldemort ordered him to deal with me, why would he impart knowledge to me?"

"It was from him that I learned that dark magic could arouse the evil thoughts of the Obscurus. He also suggested that I learn Occlumency to combat the evil thoughts generated by the Obscurus."

"That's right!" Dumbledore said with a smile. "Contradiction is an opportunity. You may not have noticed, but your words and actions are quite different."

"You treat every professor with equal respect, and this respect and sincerity is what Quirrell has always longed for but has found difficult to obtain…"

"He embarked on the wrong path, and your sincerity made him waver, which was also the key to making him turn back."

Vizette frowned, still full of doubt. "What do I need to do?"

Dumbledore said slowly, "Maintain this respect and sincerity. For a sensitive person, special treatment would only make him uneasy."

"Just pretend you know nothing and subtly influence him... You can continue to attend Quirrell's private lessons, or you can choose to stop believing him."

He let out a long breath and solemnly instructed, "And the most important thing is that you must pay attention to your own safety."

Just then, Fawkes let out a soft cry, flew up from the bird perch, and landed next to Vizette.

"Of course I haven't forgotten you!" Dumbledore stroked Fawkes's feathers. "If you are in danger, you can call on Fawkes, and it will help you."

Fawkes nodded very humanly and pecked a feather out of his body.

A fiery red feather drifted into Vizette's palm and then disappeared.

Vizette raised her hand, looking left and right, but saw nothing.

But the warmth in his palm told him that what had just happened was real.

He seemed to have established a connection with Fawkes, receiving a response simply by calling Fawkes's name in his mind.

"Fawkes really likes you," Dumbledore explained. "That's its mark; it can find you quickly whenever it's in the school."

"We have some time, you can take your time to think about this. If you encounter any difficulties, you can come to me anytime. Professor Flitwick knows the password here."

Vizette stood up abruptly, his tone unwavering and his eyes resolute, "I will continue to attend Professor Quirrell's classes and do everything I can to change him!"

Dumbledore interlaced his fingers and said in a low voice, "Okay."

He lowered his head slightly, so that Vizette wouldn't see his eyes.

In those clear, azure eyes, there seemed to be a layer of crystal-clear water…
