His expression twisted like he had just been forced to swallow bitter medicine, but he still took it.
He lifted it to his ear. "Hello?"
Jin Di's voice came through the line, cold and calm as always.
"You did well."
Jin Yang blinked. He hadn't expected praise so directly. His irritation faded slightly.
"Thanks," he muttered.
There was a brief pause.
Then Jin Di continued in the same tone, as if delivering a factual business report. "But my wife shone the brightest tonight."
Jin Yang's face darkened.
Even if he agreed deep down, hearing it from his brother's mouth made it sting. His grip tightened on the phone.
He didn't answer with words. He simply let out a low grunt, shoved the phone back into Elena's hand, and turned away.
Without another word, he walked off toward his dressing room. Lin Dong hurried after him, shooting Elena an apologetic glance on the way.
Elena stared at the phone, then lifted it back to her ear.
