Once inside, they took their seats near the stage, close enough to feel the music but far enough for a perfect view. They exchanged greetings with familiar faces, the atmosphere buzzing with anticipation.
Five minutes before the concert began, Elena appeared and took her seat between Jin Di and Grandpa Lu.
Heads turned.
Many of the attendees recognized one another, but this woman was new. Elegant. Striking. And seated among people of immense influence. Whispers spread, growing louder when Enrique Valdez leaned toward her and spoke with an ease rarely seen from him.
Elena didn't notice the attention. Her focus was elsewhere.
She wore what looked like a simple long black dress, but in truth, it was a black sweater layered over her actual performance attire. Long gloves covered her hands, keeping them warm and supple for later.
