For a heartbeat, he didn't move at all. The roar of the waterfall seemed to swell inside his head, drowning everything else. He turned to stare at her, eyes wide, stunned.
Her courage wavered. Why isn't he saying anything?
"It's getting cold," she said quickly, forcing a smile. "Let's go."
She turned away, taking only a few steps before strong arms wrapped around her from behind.
"Say it again," he said, his voice urgent.
Warmth spread through her chest, washing away the doubt. She turned in his arms, cupping his face with her gloved hands.
"I love you, Jin Di."
His eyes trembled, emotions crashing through them.
"Again."
"I love you."
"Again."
She laughed softly, then began saying it in different languages, one after another. When she reached the eighth, he pulled her into a kiss so fierce and sudden it stole her breath. Cold air surrounded them, but between them, there was only heat. When they finally parted, both were dazed.
