POV: Aurora
When I close the folder for the third time, I know I'm no longer reading. I'm just turning the pages, hoping the sentences will change on their own.
My body is still tired, but my heat is a low fever now, not a raging fire. Better. I want my head to decide, not the hormonal storm.
I grab my phone and open Lina's chat.
"I'm not signing yet," I write.
Less than half a minute passes.
"Are you not signing because you're not convinced or because you're panicking about making a decision, oh great queen of indecision?" she replies.
I smile, despite everything.
"Because I don't want to sign out of anger. But I also don't want Seraphim's suspension to be the only thing that rules right now," I tell her.
The call comes in. I answer.
"Drama level from one to ten?" she asks.
"Nine with earthquake potential," I reply.
"My favorite range," she says. "Let it out."
