Rock rubbed his chin as he studied the list on the panel. "This is my first composite spell. I've got to give it a good name."
"Since it's based on the Levitation Charm as the foundation, driven by Vadiwasi as the command, forming a system to control an object's movement… let's call it Telekinetic Hand."
[Name confirmed… Success]
[Imprint completed]
[Spell Compendium updated: New branch unlocked — Original/Composite Magic]
· Telekinetic Hand (Volaris) Lv.1 (800 / 1500)
Creating a composite spell made him understand something important—
A spell's essence is its magical resonance frequency, not fixed words.
Unlocked special support skill:
Spell Rhythmatics Lv.1 (100/299) — EXP +100
(You may now make minor adjustments to simple spells; success rate +10%)
[Mind Scale +200 EXP]
[Mana Spring +300 EXP]
"…This is a jackpot."
Rock massaged his chin again, reviewing everything he gained.
A new branch in the Spell Compendium made sense—Telekinetic Hand was a composite spell, after all.
But… 1,500 EXP just for level 1?
As he wondered about it, a small line of text appeared beneath the new branch:
[Original/Composite Magic belongs to High-Tier Magic]
High-tier? Oh. Now it made sense.
Basic spells like the Levitation Charm were considered low-tier. But from the moment Telekinetic Hand was completed, it clearly surpassed standard magic.
Meaning… the entry cost is higher, but maybe the EXP gained from practice is higher, too?
With that in mind, Rock flicked his wand.
"Volaris—Telekinetic Hand!"
The feather pinned to the bullseye instantly lifted off, followed his wand's precise direction, weaved through several obstacles midair, then shot back into the center of the ring target.
[Complex aerial maneuver complete — Telekinetic Hand +70 EXP]
"Called it," Rock muttered, lowering his wand. He was happy—really happy. But once skills get higher, EXP gain always slows down.
"Feels like I'm being greedy for complaining," he sighed internally.
"But Spell Rhythmatics… that's actually great. It'll make creating future composite spells way easier."
He holstered his wand.
The biggest reward today was definitely Spell Rhythmatics.
Of course… it also meant he now had another subject to grind.
"I should talk to the Dean. As the professor for Spellcraft, he must have book recommendations."
Just as Rock was thinking this, Adam—who'd been hiding in a corner—shouted, "It worked!"
Rock looked over, but didn't see Adam where the voice came from. Theo was already inspecting the area.
Theo had absolutely no idea that a faint ripple-shaped silhouette was following right behind him.
"Hey, man? Where are you?" Theo called out after looking around for a bit. Seeing no one answer, he turned back to Rock.
"Rock, didn't you say the Phantom Form Charm isn't real invisibility?"
"Why don't you… look behind you?" Rock pointed at Theo with a very weird expression.
Theo turned—
"What the fuck?!"
Adam's floating head was right behind him.
The rest of his body? Completely gone.
"Hahaha! Look at you jumping!" Adam dissolved the Phantom Form Charm and doubled over laughing.
"Oh, so that's how you wanna play?" Theo jabbed a finger at him. "Okay. You're done."
Adam's smile froze. "Wait—Theo, hey, I was just messing around. How about… you scare me once and we call it even?"
"Yep. I like messing around too," Theo nodded. "And you're right—I don't know the Phantom Form Charm. Thanks for reminding me."
"Rock! Save me!" Adam practically begged.
"Mm." Rock nodded seriously.
"What do you mean mm?! Say something helpful!" Adam panicked. If Theo pranked him back, he'd never survive it.
"You want something fair?" Rock tapped his chin.
"My sense of fairness is… handing you tissues while you suffer."
"Or writing down every detail of your suffering. Might even go viral at Hogwarts."
"Beautiful. Love it, dude!" Theo gave Rock a big thumbs-up. "It's settled. Starting tomorrow."
Adam collapsed onto Rock, shaking him. "Are you even human?!"
"I am," Rock smiled. "But if you keep shaking me, you might want to be afraid of one more person."
Adam clutched his head in despair. "Can I go back in time? Please?"
"Suck it up. That's what you get for showing off." Rock patted his shoulder, barely holding back laughter.
Theo crouched down, grinning at Adam. "I'll give you one chance to redeem yourself. How'd you suddenly succeed?"
As much as he wanted to tease Adam, Theo was honestly more interested in the Phantom Form Charm.
"Please give me that chance!" Adam clung to Theo's arm. "I swear I won't hide anything!"
"Alright, let's head back. It's getting late."
Rock checked his pocket watch. They'd missed lunch again.
"I'm starving."
Theo rubbed his stomach—but kept his eyes locked on Adam like a predator watching prey.
"I got you covered! A Hufflepuff kid told me a secret trick last time," Adam said immediately, thumping his chest.
He'd paid for that info with half his snacks.
"Deal." Theo grabbed him and marched toward the Room of Requirement exit.
The group reached the first floor. Adam scratched at a pear painted in a fruit still-life.
The pear giggled, squirmed, and transformed into a round green door handle.
Adam pulled it, and the entire painting swung open like a real door—revealing a huge, bright kitchen inside.
A wave of delicious aromas rushed out.
Theo's eyes went wide.
"By Merlin's beard… this is heaven."
Adam inhaled deeply and nodded. "Couldn't agree more."
