Chapter Thirty-Three: "A Part of the Lost Darkness"
Volume One: "The Nature of the Devil Does Not Change"
Arc: "The Devil Finally Leaves Earth"
Scarlet King smiled calmly as he studied the princess.
"Alright… looks like we're both bound to each other now."
The princess let out a soft laugh. Her spirit form thinned into a long line, then slipped back into the Cosmic Poison Pearl to heal her soul from the poison.
Scarlet King's smile vanished. He looked around at the wood enclosing him, as if he were inside a shell. From within the pearl, the princess watched him and thought to herself:
(This man is extremely dangerous and mysterious, and he knows far too much… information that even those living in the middle or higher dimensions aren't supposed to know. How can an ordinary human with such minor power possess this much knowledge? I need to be cautious when dealing with him. For now, I need to sleep and recover from the poison's aftereffects after leaving the pearl.)
Scarlet King moved to leave the wooden trunk, but it felt like a tunnel with no end. Then, suddenly, a jetpack unfolded from his back—its parts spreading until the thrusters were exposed. He flew forward while absorbing the surrounding Qi, moving at two hundred thousand kilometers per hour through the trunk, thinking to himself:
(Flight consumes Qi quickly in this strange place… The jetpack is much slower than flying with Qi, but it lets me conserve my energy for combat. And besides, I'm not in a hurry.)
He felt movement inside him from the Evolution Stone and allowed a faint smile.
(Hah… Titan King has been repaired. That's because the Evolution Stone absorbs Qi, evolves the transformations, and repairs them. Titan King is close to evolving into its third evolution.)
---
[After an hour of flying]
Scarlet King stared ahead without so much as a twitch, until he noticed a small wave of light appear.
(Is that the end of the wooden trunk?)
But then—countless Lightning Wolves appeared.
One of them moved like a black flash streaked with shining white lines. It lunged at Scarlet King and bit into his left shoulder. Scarlet King didn't groan, didn't scream, didn't even flinch—he was like a moving block of ice.
Calmly, he placed a hand on the wolf's belly, then forcefully drew the black crystal sword and drove it through the wolf's abdomen. He pulled the sword free as he hovered in the air, and the wolf dropped to the ground.
Scarlet King's hand was covered in blood—yet there were still countless wolves. And among them stood an enormous one, accompanied by five elite wolves—not as large as it was, but half its size…
The leader wolf.
Scarlet King's lips curved into a cold, demonic smile. He spoke in a low voice:
"Hah… more primordial stones. But that giant wolf looks like it's carrying a very… very good primordial stone."
He moved in a blur, drew his sword, and killed four wolves at insane speed—ripping their bodies apart until guts and organs spilled out, blood splattering across the rotten wood covered in green fungal grass.
The leader lunged at Scarlet King, but Scarlet King dodged with the same speed.
Fog appeared around him. It swelled—then transformed into Titan King.
Strangely, space-time warped and expanded rapidly to accommodate Titan King's size. The wood bent like rubber, and the fungal grass seemed to flee from the area.
Titan King swung its black crystal sword through a group of wolves, killing them instantly and chopping them into a scattered mess of bodies. Then it began firing deadly red beams at the remaining wolves.
But an elite wolf moved—pouncing from behind and biting Titan King's screen.
Teeth scraped metal…
Sparks—nothing more.
There was no other effect, because of the sheer durability of the materials Titan King was made from.
The hooks behind Titan King's back moved, pierced the elite wolf's body, and shredded it into small pieces.
But more wolves piled onto Titan King's back, biting down again and again, releasing electrical energy that threw Titan King off balance. A harsh buzzing rose from inside Titan King's body…
Then the beams from the screen suddenly died out—because the electricity was surging through the component Titan King's body had been built from.
An expression appeared on Titan King's screen:
"(;`Д´)"
Titan King raised its left arm and drew the sword from its forearm, guiding the invading electricity toward the tip of the blade. Then it slashed at an elite wolf, compressing the electricity into a sphere and launching it like a wave of energy.
The elite wolf vaporized instantly.
Titan King thought to itself:
(Unfortunately… it was carrying a primordial stone, but it evaporated along with it because of that electric strike.)
Titan King's screen rotated one hundred eighty degrees and began firing red beams at the wolves on its back, blowing their heads apart instantly.
---
[On the grassy land]
Lin Yuan and Ikalat were injured. The number of Lightning Wolves was enormous, and only a few disciples remained. Among the others, only the strongest survived—and even they were badly wounded.
Lin Yuan spoke as he stood behind Ikalat:
"We have to run! We'll die like this!"
Suddenly, everyone felt a crushing dark aura.
A sixth-rank wolf appeared.
One disciple dropped to his knees the moment he saw it and began screaming:
"We're dead! We're dead! We won't live another day! That wolf is at the level of a mid-stage Qi Condensation cultivator!!"
---
[Inside the wooden trunk]
Scarlet King struck the leader wolf with his sword, smashing it into the wooden wall after slaughtering all the other wolves at extreme speed. Then he pressed a hand down on it and began firing red beams into it, while powerful sound boomed with the support of the speakers—bursting the wolf's ears and killing it from the inside as the red beams burned through it.
"Fwoooommmmmmm!!"
After a few seconds, he stopped. Then he turned as he sensed a crushing dark aura coming from far away. He shouted in shock:
"Damn it… it's a fragment of Ghairamengi Darkness! But how can something priceless be in a place like this?… Oh, wait…"
A terrifyingly demonic smile spread across Scarlet King's face as a powerful purple aura erupted from him.
"When I died, I possessed the complete Mind of Darkness. So when I died, that fragment got stuck here… hehehe… very good."
Inside Scarlet King, the black void surrounded everything. The Black Darkness stood and spoke with reverence:
"In the beginning, music was created alongside Chaos and the Dao. That music was wild, mad, and unstable, and its echo trembled above the abyss from which nonexistence and the void were born. Above the Abyss of Existence stood Darkness and Light, their energies colliding. Chaos spat the noise of creation, and the Dao spoke the words of laws—so existence and the eternal laws were created from them. And the chaotic music made Darkness fall into a deep sleep—one it did not awaken from until the collapse of the blaring noise and the pounding, irritating drums, when it transformed into simple, quiet music"
