POV: Thomas Webb
The case file had grown three inches thick.
Webb spread the documentation across his desk at 11 PM: witness statements from Dmitri and two other DeVos operatives. Financial records showing money movement through shell companies. Communications between DeVos and intermediaries discussing Daniel's "removal." Photography of DeVos at meetings with the men who'd actually performed the operation.
Solid case. Prosecutable case. Case that would result in conviction.
Except Raymond DeVos was gone.
Webb had been trying to locate him for three days. Not subtle attempts, warrants had been issued, surveillance teams deployed, known associates questioned. DeVos's apartment was empty. His office at Meridian Capital Partners was abandoned. His usual restaurants didn't have reservations. The nightclubs where he was regularly seen had no record of him.
The man had disappeared.
