Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Uchiha Mei's Probing

What's even more outrageous is that taking the blame can happen twice? Use the Black Pot to spin the Turntable and then take the blame again?

Uchiha En was momentarily at a loss for words.

Just as Uchiha En was considering using the Black Pot to spin the Turntable, Uchiha Mei's voice sounded from the doorway: "Oh? En, you're back from your mission!"

"Mei-senpai? Aren't you supposed to be participating in tomorrow's battle?" Uchiha En asked, momentarily stunned.

"I am, but the operational meeting has already ended. Orochimaru told us to come back and prepare."

"I see."

"To be honest, I was against this proactive attack, but Orochimaru, Ino–Shika–Choji, Hyuga, and most of the Jonin in the Land of Bears camp agreed, so my opposition was useless. I could only agree," Uchiha Mei said with a cold expression.

"Mei-senpai, why were you against it?" Uchiha En asked.

"Because the sacrifice is too great. Isn't it putting the cart before the horse to launch a battle for 'morale' when we know the odds of winning are low and many people will die?

The Uchiha Clan started with 50 members on the Land of Bears battlefield. Now only 14 remain—wait, 15 including you.

I don't want our clansmen to sacrifice themselves for something so vague and insubstantial."

After hearing Uchiha Mei's words, Uchiha En fell silent.

Orochimaru might have some ideas regarding the corpses of the Kirigakure Bloodline Limit Ninja.

But Ino–Shika–Choji and the other Jonin from the Land of Bears were truly considering the battlefield situation.

Although morale is vague, it is genuinely useful and might influence the outcome of a war.

The principle of "first try, then decline, then exhaustion" is something even middle school students knew in his previous life.

However, Uchiha Mei's viewpoint wasn't necessarily wrong.

Battles between Ninja are completely different from battles between ordinary people; personal power accounts for too much in Ninja combat, so the influence of morale is indeed relatively small.

"By the way, En, I heard that your instructor and teammates are members of the families close to the Hokage, is that right?" Uchiha Mei asked, changing the subject.

"Yes. Mei-senpai, is there a problem with that?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to remind you that there are quite a few people in the Clan who dislike families that are too close to the Hokage."

Upon hearing this, Uchiha En immediately realized that Uchiha Mei must belong to the dove faction of the Uchiha Clan, wishing for harmonious coexistence with the Village. The people he spoke of were likely the hawk faction.

"En, what kind of relationship do you think the Village and the Clan should maintain?" Uchiha Mei asked.

"The Village and the Clan should have a relationship where prosperity is shared, and loss is shared. It's just that..."

"Just what?"

"The high-level officials of the Village don't seem to think that way now. They have no goodwill toward the Uchiha Clan and even want to erase the Uchiha Clan from Konoha."

Uchiha Mei was silent for a moment before saying: "Those two Advisors and that old immortal Danzo probably think that way, but Hokage-sama shouldn't harbor such thoughts."

"Mei-senpai, do you trust Hokage-sama very much?"

"When I was little, I ran into Hokage-sama eating at Kagami-sama's house. The two of them were laughing and chatting, and their relationship seemed excellent. When Hokage-sama got drunk, Kagami-sama personally escorted him home.

So, rather than saying I trust Hokage-sama, I'd say I trust Kagami-sama. Kagami-sama trusted Hokage-sama deeply, but whenever Kagami-sama mentioned those two Advisors and Danzo, he always looked troubled."

Uchiha En nodded upon hearing this. From Uchiha Mei's words, Uchiha En confirmed two things.

First, the ideology consistently held by the dove faction is likely similar to that of Uchiha Kagami.

Second, Uchiha Kagami didn't 100% trust the Village's high-level officials either. He only trusted the Third Hokage, and he was wary of the Advisors and Danzo.

In fact, this point can also be seen from Uchiha Shisui's attitude toward Danzo in the original work.

"Mei-senpai, why are you suddenly telling me all this?" Uchiha En asked.

"Today I heard from Orochimaru that you have already acquired the Two-Tomoe Sharingan. In just a few months since you awakened your eye, your Sharingan has evolved from a Single Tomoe to a Double Tomoe.

Your talent far surpasses that of ordinary clansmen, and activating the Three-Tomoe Sharingan should only be a matter of time. Therefore, you are qualified to know these things."

"So that's why. I thought Mei-senpai had some special intentions toward me!"

Just as Uchiha Mei was about to say something, a female voice came from outside the tent: "Mei-senpai, could you step out for a moment? I have something to tell you."

"That's Aya's voice. En, let's stop here for today!" After saying that, Uchiha Mei turned and left.

After Uchiha Mei left, Uchiha En recalled their conversation. He felt that Uchiha Mei was somewhat probing his attitude towards the Village.

Currently, the hawk faction and the dove faction within the Uchiha Clan are severely divided, and a newly rising genius might affect the balance of power.

"Sigh! This is truly troublesome!" Uchiha En sighed, then lay down and clicked on the Turntable.

Uchiha En didn't hesitate and immediately spun the Turntable.

The next second, a row of black text appeared before his eyes: The Black Pot has been converted. The word game begins.

"You have logged into Detective Conan."

"You wake up to find yourself in a room with no windows, the door locked, and a naked woman lying beside you."

"The woman is well-endowed and beautiful—just your type."

"Although you haven't figured out why you appeared here, with a beauty beside you, you decide to act first and ask questions later."

"Your hand touched the snowy peak, and a cold sensation instantly sobered you up."

"You quickly checked and found that the woman was dead."

"At this moment, there was a sound of banging on the door outside."

"You panicked, but actually, you don't need to panic, because you didn't kill the person; you are just the one taking the blame."

"With a loud CRASH, a Girl with Horns kicked the door open."

"You now have two choices: one, flee immediately, or two, be taken away by the police."

"You chose option one."

"As a result, before you could even leave the room, you were hit in the back by a soccer ball kicked by a Glasses-Wearing Elementary School Student."

"The tremendous impact sent you flying."

"You started doubting life itself, wondering why a soccer ball possessed such immense power."

"Actually, you shouldn't doubt it. This elementary school student once used a soccer ball to blow up a satellite. The fact that you managed to crawl up from the ground is already a miracle."

"Unfortunately, you only managed to crawl up. You were knocked down by a punch from the Horned Girl who rushed over. When you woke up, you were lying in a hospital bed, your right hand handcuffed to it."

"You told the police guarding you that you didn't kill the woman, but the police didn't believe you, because the room you were in was a locked room, and there could be no other killer besides you."
