Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Seeking the Position of Clan Head

Mentioning Uchiha Fugaku made Uchiha En even angrier.

How did the Uchiha Clan end up with such a clan head?

Uchiha Fugaku's personality was primarily indecisive; he lacked any resolve in his actions.

As the clan head, when his clansmen clamored for rebellion, he was caught in the middle, unable to make a decision.

Later, when he learned that Uchiha Itachi had taken on the mission to exterminate the clan, he actually felt a sense of relief.

It was as if his unspoken thought was: 'This troublesome task is finally off my hands. I'm just going to accept my fate without resistance. Whatever happens to the Uchiha, I can't go against my own son, can I?'

Moreover, Uchiha Fugaku's tenure could be described as utterly fruitless.

Firstly, he did nothing to change the Uchiha Clan's image among the villagers, leading to an increasing rift between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha Village.

Secondly, he harbored illusions in the face of the higher-ups' aggression. When two tigers fight, there must be a struggle unless one completely overwhelms the other, or one is completely destroyed. The establishment of Konoha was when the Senju completely overwhelmed the Uchiha. The experience of their ancestors was clear, yet Uchiha Fugaku failed to learn from it.

Thirdly, the clan had been preparing for a coup for so long, only for him to abandon it at the last minute. Uchiha Fugaku, as the clan head, completely disgraced the Uchiha Clan.

As the head of a great clan, one should have the mentality of fighting to the death even when facing destruction, never letting the enemy off easy! Not lacking even the courage to act.

More importantly, Uchiha Fugaku possessed the Mangekyo Sharingan. He wasn't lacking in strength, but as a powerful clan head, he had lost even the fighting spirit!

To speak of recent events, take the Kaguya Clan of Kirigakure. Their situation was almost identical to the Uchiha's: they were not tolerated by the higher-ups, and under the influence of the higher-ups, ordinary villagers demonized Bloodline Limits. Haku merely displayed his Bloodline Limit, and the villagers killed his mother!

Although the Kaguya Clan wasn't particularly intelligent, their clansmen understood at that time that the Fourth Mizukage (controlled by Obito) and Kirigakure's higher-ups would absolutely not tolerate them.

In such a situation, it would only end when one side fell. Since that was the case, they would fight to the death. 'You've pushed us this far, so we won't let you Kirigakure have an easy time either!'

Thus, the Kaguya Clan directly chose to revolt. In the end, the entire clan was annihilated, leaving only Kimimaro.

But their courage and spirit could be considered worthy of their ancestors' name!

In contrast, Uchiha En felt ashamed just thinking about the Uchiha Clan.

Therefore, Uchiha Fugaku absolutely could not remain in the position of clan head. Only by ousting him and becoming the clan head himself could he possibly reverse the fate of the Uchiha Clan.

Thinking of this, Uchiha En took a deep breath and turned his gaze to the other two battlefields.

Asana was generally holding her own against a Chunin, though winning against him would be a bit difficult. Meanwhile, Aburame Shibi had already dealt with all four Kirigakure Ninja.

Seeing this, Uchiha En immediately rushed over to help and, together with Asana, took down the Chunin, securing the kill.

Asana didn't say anything like 'I can do it myself.' This was a battlefield, not child's play; showing off foolishly at this time would be too stupid.

And Yamanaka Kagetsu, who had been hiding in the back, only emerged after everyone had dealt with their enemies.

Aburame Shibi quickly disposed of the bodies and then led the group onward.

Uchiha En's squad scouted the battlefield for two full days, encountering three waves of enemies during that time.

Uchiha En killed a total of five Kirigakure Ninja, but he only gained four attribute points.

This was because among those five Kirigakure Ninja, one couldn't even be considered a Ninja; they were akin to cannon fodder from a regular fourth-grade class in Konoha, with no difference from ordinary people except for having Chakra.

After a few days of exploration, Uchiha En had basically figured it out: he only gained attribute points by killing people who truly possessed Ninja abilities.

In other words, at least Genin-level strength was required for him to gain attribute points; cannon fodder didn't even qualify for attribute point increases.

"Alright, my mission this time is over," Aburame Shibi said after reaching the edge of the battlefield.

"Shibi-sensei, we dismantled so many traps and dealt with three waves of enemies along the way. Doesn't that count as a great achievement?" Yamanaka Kagetsu asked.

"This operation, if it were a Village mission, would probably be considered an A-rank mission. For freshly graduated Genin, it's certainly a great achievement," Aburame Shibi said.

"En, Asana, did you hear that? An A-rank mission! We completed an A-rank mission right after graduating, the three of us are amazing!"

"The amazing one is Shibi-sensei. Don't forget, most of the enemies we encountered were dealt with by Shibi-sensei," Uchiha En said.

"Indeed, Shibi-sensei can easily suppress Jonin. He must be a very strong existence among Jonin!" Asana said.

Praised by his students, Aburame Shibi felt a little embarrassed. He cleared his throat and said, "My strength isn't top-tier on this battlefield. At least, I wouldn't stand a chance against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

With one sword, I can still guarantee everyone's safe retreat. With two swords, I might have to make a choice."

Upon hearing "make a choice," Yamanaka Kagetsu couldn't help but shiver. He was the weakest here, so he would probably be the one sacrificed, right?

Comparatively, it was clearly more worthwhile to protect Asana and Uchiha En, who were stronger. They would definitely find it easier to escape than him.

Thinking of this, Yamanaka Kagetsu felt an increasing sense of urgency. He wanted to improve his strength as quickly as possible; he didn't want to die on the battlefield!

"En, have you learned a new genjutsu?" Yamanaka Kagetsu asked.

"Wood Binding Kill is still not very proficient."

"It's okay, when we get back to the camp, just use me for practice! We'll improve together."

Uchiha En smiled at this. "Alright! Just don't back out when the time comes."

"Never."

Aburame Shibi heard their conversation and understood that Yamanaka Kagetsu wanted to improve his mental secret techniques by resisting genjutsu.

Aburame Shibi did not object to this approach, as many members of the Yamanaka Clan had done so before. In the early stages, their mental secret techniques, especially their sensing range, did indeed improve significantly, but later they developed a certain resistance to genjutsu, and the improvement of their mental secret techniques stagnated.

However, it seemed that no members of the Yamanaka Clan and Uchiha Clan had ever tried this together.

After all, the Yamanaka Clan had always been part of the Hokage faction, and their relationship with the Uchiha Clan could certainly not be called good.

The Uchiha Clan's genjutsu level was absolutely top-tier in Konoha, coupled with the enhancement of the Sharingan. If they were willing to use genjutsu to help members of the Yamanaka Clan improve their mental secret techniques, there might indeed be some pleasant surprises!

Thinking of this, Aburame Shibi also developed a slight interest in the matter.
