It was the evening of July the third as Y/n crossed over a threshold and entered into the Granger household. He stood in the hallway as he marvelled in the difference between a muggle household and a wizards. It was much smaller than his own home or Hogwarts but Y/n didn't mind this. The walls in the hall were painted either a neutral grey or white but Y/n noticed lots of stationary pictures of the family and pieces of art that reminded him of Dean's poster back in the Hogwarts dorms.
As he and Hermione pulled their trunks inside Hermione's parents shut the front door behind them. Crookshanks let out a grump meow signalling he wanted to be let out recognising his surroundings.
"I'm going to let Crookshanks out Y/n so you can let Noctis out." Hermione told him.
"Is that alright?" Y/n asked waiting to hear so from one of Hermione's parents.
"Of course dear, we wouldn't make you keep the poor thing in a cage all summer. No she and Crookshanks need to wander freely." Hermione's mother said now and both Crookshanks and Noctis were let out to roam freely.
"Right." Hermione's dad said getting their attention. "Why don't I show you the room you will be staying in Y/n and you can unpack." He offered.
"That would be most appreciated sir." Y/n said gratefully and he took hold of the handle of his trunk and Hermione's dad began to lead him up the stairs.
"He has such good manners Hermione." Her mother said impressed. "Why don't you go up and unpack as well then when you are both finished we can begin to order dinner."
Y/n was on the second floor now as he could see several doors and Hermione's dad could see he was curious.
"Okay, The one at the far end of the hall is the bathroom. You're lucky as we've just had a lovely shower installed." Mr Granger began to say then he pointed to the nearest door. "This is mine and Mrs Granger's room so no need to go in there." He pointed to a door further along from their room. "This is Hermione's room, remember it's off limits at night..."
"Yes sir." Y/n nodded.
Mr Granger then guided Y/n to a door opposite Hermione's own. "And here is where you will staying." He opened the door to reveal a fair-sized room with a small bed, a wardrobe, a desk and some drawers. "I'm afraid it's not much seeing as it's a guest room but we hope you will be comfortable."
"I am sure I will sir, Thank you once again for allowing me to stay in your home this summer." Y/n said gratefully.
They could hear Hermione's trunk on the stairs now but before Mr Granger had a chance to move Y/n was already at the top of the stairs helping pull Hermione's trunk up for her.
"Thank you." Hermione smiled at him.
Mr Granger crossed his arms as one of the corners of his mouth went up in a smile watching the two.
A short while later Y/n had finished unpacking and came back downstairs to step into the living room, He could see it was large, Hermione's parents were both sitting down on a grey sofa. Two armchairs stood nearby it and towards the end of the room, there was a large dining room table with a chandelier above it.
"Settled in Y/n?" Mrs Granger asked him as she noticed him standing in the doorway.
"Yes quite nicely thank you Mrs Granger." Y/n told her.
"Feel free to sit anywhere, we are just watching the television while we wait for Hermione to finish unpacking herself." Mrs Granger said.
Y/n crossed the room and chose to sit in one of the armchairs as they reminded him of the ones in the Gryffindor common room. He could see Hermione's parents were looking at a rather strange box that seemed to have what he thought were moving portraits at first upon it but the images kept changing too suddenly for them to be portraits.
Noctis pounced upon his lap now and Y/n decided that he would focus her instead of the strange box.
Hermione came down ten minutes later and sat in the armchair next to Y/n's.
"Are we all ready to order dinner then?" Mr Granger asked.
"I certainly know I am, It's been a busy day and I am starving." Mrs Granger said. "Hermione, Y/n, What would you both like?"
Y/n was stumped now, For once he had no idea how to answer. It was lucky for him Hermione spoke up.
"The thing is, Y/n has never actually had a Chinese takeaway before I don't think." Hermione told her parents
"Oh but I thought that he..." Mrs Granger began.
"He was being polite mum." Hermione said now.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Y/n we didn't realize. We don't have to have Chinese food if it's not something you want to try." Mrs Granger said worried.
"No, No, Please I am more than happy to try it." Y/n was quick to say not wanting to be a bother. "I just was unsure...of what I was supposed to say or 'order' as you put it." Y/n then admitted.
Mrs Granger just smiled. "Why don't we start with something simple then? Do you like Rice and eggs?" She asked.
"I do." Y/n confirmed.
"Then I think a simple egg fried rice should do nicely. I'm sure Hermione and I will allow you a small taste of our dishes to see if you like them too, and maybe even Mr Granger will let you try some of his too." She then joked to her husband.
"I'm sure I can sacrifice a small amount..." He told her.
"Thank you." Y/n smiled feeling welcomed into their home.
Time passed by as the Grangers ordered their dinner and Y/n set the table for everyone when the food arrived. The four of them were now sat around the dining room table as food was put on plates.
Y/n held out a forkful of his dish and placed it in his mouth taking in it's flavor before he finished it and then put down his fork and looked down at his plate. "Hermione..."
"Yes Y/n?" She said looking at her parent's reaction slightly nervous.
"Do you think we could ask Dobby to make this at Hogwarts?" Y/n asked her.
"Oh I think he likes it." Mrs Granger says happily.
It was late now and Y/n was standing in the bathroom with Hermione looking at a toothbrush she had given him confusedly. "What am I supposed to do with it?" He asked her
"You've never cleaned your teeth?" Hermione's dad asked appearing in the doorway frowning.
"Is that what this is for sir? I have always used magic to do it you see." Y/n explained.
"Well...Magic is certainly good for some things, but as a dentist I still think you can't beat a good brush and floss. Magic and teeth should not go together."
He was still slightly cross to discover Hermione had shrunken her teeth using magic.
"I see sir." Y/n nodded and when he left Y/n turned back to Hermione.
"I suppose I had better give it a try." He said as he put some toothpaste onto his brush, then some water before raising it into his mouth and starting to brush his teeth.
"So what do you think of the muggle way?" Hermione asked him as she started brushing her own teeth.
Y/n stopped brushing for a moment. "Odd." He mumbled. "But fun too, makes for a nice change." He brushed some more then rinsed his mouth out with a cup of water. "Oh my mouth is all minty."
"Just don't have any orange juice after brushing your teeth it will taste bitter." Hermione warned him.
"I will take your word for it." Y/n chuckled and he put his new toothbrush into a special holder while Hermione finished doing her teeth then put hers beside his own.
"I suppose I should say goodnight to you now..." Y/n started awkwardly, it was the first time the two had really been alone since they had become a couple in the Hogwarts Hospital ward.
"Goodnight Y/n." Hermione smiled as she kissed her boyfriend and then disappeared into her room.
Y/n just smiled as he brought a finger to his lips and then went to his own room now determined to do a little research into Lupin's notes before going to sleep.
It was the middle of the night and the Granger house was dead silent. Crookshanks and Noctis were curled up together on one of the armchairs in the living room, sleeping peacefully. Their peace was rudely disturbed however when something thudded onto the floor upstairs.
In the guest bedroom upstairs Y/n had fallen out of bed and was covered in a cold sweat. His breathing was quick and panicked as he tried to push himself up but it took more energy than it should have. His throat felt dry and his fingers cold and numb.
He heard the door to the room quietly open and his eyes looked to see Hermione standing dressed in a pair of pajama pants with what he could only guess were cats on them, and a white t-shirt.
"I heard a noise so I thought I'd..." Hermione quietly began but stopped once she saw him then hurried into the room. "Y/n What's wrong? Are you alright? You're sweating like crazy." She quickly whispered to him looking over his condition.
"N...Nightmare..." Y/n whispered back then shivered as he managed to pull himself up into a sitting position.
"A nightmare? What were you dreaming about?" Hermione crouched down beside him.
"Cedric...and the Graveyard..." Y/n let out a deep breath and brought a hand to his face. "I do not understand, I have had over a week to process this so why is it only now starting to affect me?" Y/n asked.
"Because you haven't been processing it Y/n. You've not been alone for one minute since it happened till now." Hermione quietly pointed out to him. "You haven't had a moment to really process...Cedric's death..."
Y/n just brought his knees up to his chest now as he sat there and Hermione sat down beside him. "It was awful...I barely had time to register what was happening and then Cedric..." He rested his head on his knees. "He was already gone. If I had been faster...not frozen up then maybe I could of..."
"It wasn't your fault Y/n." Hermione told him as she put her hand on his. "No one is blaming you for Cedric's death, Only trained Aurors or someone like Dumbledore would have had the experience to save you all in that situation."
Y/n didn't say anything so Hermione continued. "You and Harry both did really well to get out of there alive, you even managed to bring Cedric back for his parents..."
"We could not leave him there...not with him and his followers..." Y/n said looking at Hermione now.
"Y/n, everyone is really proud of you and Harry for doing what you did. Ron and all his family, Dumbledore, Your Grandmother, and me... You both did everything you could that night. I'm sure of it."
Y/n shivered again now as the cold night air finally registered.
"Come on let's get you back to bed, You're going to catch a cold like this otherwise." Hermione said as she took his hand and stood up.
Y/n slowly got to his feet now. "Thank you Hermione...I am sorry I woke you up."
"Y/n you don't have to apologize...You've been through a traumatic experience, I want to help you through this."
Y/n just nodded and climbed back into his bed now feeling better than he had before. "You should go back to your room and get some rest." He said but he felt a sudden weight added to the mattress and he turned to see Hermione was getting into his bed as well.
"Hermione... If we are caught..." Y/n quickly said not wanting to break his word to her parents but as he felt how warm and inviting she was his body quickly began to betray him and relax.
"I'll only stay for a few hours and then go back to my room before Mom and dad wake up." She said holding him.
"I..." But whatever sentence Y/n was trying to say was never finished as his eyes closed and he quickly drifted off.
Y/n was enjoying his time with the Grangers. He had settled in comfortably as the weeks began to pass by. Hermione and her mom had taken him to shop for sore muggle-looking clothes on one of the days in the first week giving him a new variety of clothes to choose from like jeans and shirts that he had taken a quick liking to.
Mr Granger and he even spent some time together on one of the weekends when he took him to a football game after Y/n had mentioned hearing about the sport from a fellow student named Dean. Y/n in return tried to teach Mr Granger about Quidditch and the position he played for his and Hermione's house team but Mr Granger found it to be too complicated.
On one of the days Hermione got a daily prophet delivered to try and see what was happening in the wizarding world. To her and Y/n's shock however there was no mention of Voldemort at all, the prophet instead was questioning Harry's questionability and if Y/n secretly had some and in Cedric's death. Y/n was so furious he spent the rest of the day in his room pretending he was ill to Hermione's parents.
When it was the next day Hermione had decided to cheer him up by taking him to her favorite bookstore in the muggle world. As he browsed the books he felt himself becoming calmer and after reading many blurbs he found himself unconsciously choosing a lot of titles by an author named J.R.R. Tolkien.
'I wonder if this will be too many?' Y/n wondered as he carried his stack to try and find Hermione but when he saw her he could see that her stack was even larger than his and it only made him laugh.
"What?" Hermione said. "I just wanted to do a bit of light reading."
Most evenings Y/n and Hermione sat in the armchairs that had now become known as their armchairs by her mother. They would often be seen reading their new books or studying from wizarding books. Y/n admittedly did find it frustrating not being able to perform magic like he could at home, and when Hermione asked him how he had been getting away with it he explained that in wizarding homes it worked differently as the ministry could not tell who cast a spell, just where it was cast and what was cast, which is why underage wizards living with muggles were caught out easier.
At night, Hermione daring to be brave had begun to sneak into his room on a regular basis and the two would cuddle until the early hours of the morning when she would then sneak back to her own room.
A month had passed and it was now the morning of August the 3rd, Y/n was sitting with the Grangers at the dining room table eating his breakfast when the sound of something tapping against a window could be heard.
"What is that noise?" Mr Granger asked.
"Oh, It's an owl!" Mrs Granger pointed out. "Perhaps it's Hermione's booklist, That always comes by owl." She suggested.
But Y/n looked up from his breakfast and to the window immediately recognising the owl. "Oh dear...this cannot be good." He said quickly getting up.
"What's wrong?" Hermione asked him.
"That is my Grandmother's owl." Y/n said as he opened the window and the owl flew inside landing on his shoulder bearing a letter in its beak. Y/n quickly took the letter and opened it. His eyes scanned the page and widened as he got to the bottom.
"What's happened?" Hermione asked worried as her parents looked concerned too.
"It is Harry...he was caught using a Patronus charm during a Dementor attack last night... The Ministry has apparently expelled him from Hogwarts."
"No! That can't be right." Hermione said dropping her spoon into a bowl of cereal.
"A Dementor attack?" Mr Granger said now from the table. "What is a Dementor?"
"A Dementor Mr Granger, is a very foul creature that exists only to suck out the joy and happiness of a person, quite literally. They cannot be fought with weapons or hands. The only way to repel them is with something called the Patronus charm. It is sort of like a shield of sorts if you like, but it protects you from them."
"But if you're friend was protecting himself from these bad creatures you call Dementors then why is he in trouble?" Mrs Granger asked.
"Because we wizards are not allowed to use magic outside of school until we turn seventeen. There are ways around the rule if you live in a wizarding home but for Muggle-born wizards and witches it is near impossible to get away with." Y/n said.
"Oh I see, so that's why you and Hermione haven't been using any magic while staying here." Mr Granger said as if having just realized something. "I thought you both just wanted a break from it."
"There is another matter to discuss." Y/n said getting the two parent's attention again. "My grandmother has also written to tell me that she is coming to collect me this afternoon."
"You're leaving?" Hermione asked sadly.
"I am afraid I have no choice in the matter." Y/n says regretfully. "She has however invited you to join us for the rest of the summer. But that is ultimately for your parents to decide."
Hermione immediately turned her gaze to them.
"But Hermione, You only just came back..." Mrs Granger said sadly.
"I know mom, but I want to stay with Y/n and our friend Harry is in trouble he'll need our support."
"Hermione. Why don't you take Y/n upstairs and help him pack." Mr Granger said now, It was clear he and Mrs Granger wanted a private conversation.
Y/n and Hermione were in the guest bedroom as Y/n slowly began to pack items into his trunk. Hermione however was pacing around the room. "This is completely unfair! They can't expel Harry for defending himself like that."
"Given how they write about him and I in the papers they certainly seem determined to try." Y/n said back.
"It's unjust Y/n! They have to give him a fair hearing. He needs to be able to defend himself!" Hermione continued.
"Hermione, Dumbledore will not allow Harry to be expelled by the ministry, especially after what has happened in the last few months." Y/n said.
"But we don't even know what Dumbledore is thinking, we were all shocked when he told us not to write to Harry about any information we might hear. Why do you think he did that?" She asked Y/n.
"I do not know Hermione." Y/n said as he thought back to a private meeting Dumbledore had called with him, Ron and Hermione to discuss Harry before term ended. "But I am sure he has his reasons, even if I do not like them, but considering we do not know the full picture it would be unwise for us to go against what we have been told to do by Dumbledore. He has not let us down before."
"I just wish we knew what was going on." Hermione said stopping on the spot now.
"We will know more when my Grandmother comes for me and hopefully you." Y/n says.
"And what if my parents don't let me come?" Hermione asked.
Y/n put the top in his hands down now as he slowly crossed the room to look at Hermione and take her hands in his. "Then, I will just have to write to you everyday and let you know what is going on."
There was a knock on the door and both Y/n and Hermione turned their heads to see Mr Granger standing in the doorway.
"Hermione, Your mother and I have decided you can go." Mr Granger said now.
Hermione smiled. "Thank you dad."
"But we want you back for Christmas." Mr Granger said.
Time passed slowly in the Granger household as they waited for Y/n's grandmother to arrive. When the clock struck three there was a knock at the door. Nobody needed to ask who it was as Mrs Granger went to open the door.
"Hello Ms Grindelwald, please come inside." Mrs Granger said politely.
"Thank you dear." Frieda Grindelwald said as Mrs Granger moved and she stepped inside now.
"Grandmother." Y/n said quickly getting to his feet. "I am glad to see you are well." And he meant it, these past few weeks he secretly had been concerned about whatever mission it was she was doing for Dumbledore.
"You have grown taller." Frieda commented as she had to look up at Y/n.
"Only slightly." Y/n smiled slightly. "How have you been keeping?" He asked secretly enquiring how her mission from Dumbledore was going.
"There are good days and bad days once you get to this age." His Grandmother replied indicating she was getting mixed results. "How is your scar healing up?"
"Oh..." Y/n said caught off guard. "It is healing alright." He moved his hair slightly for her to see.
"You never mentioned you had a scar dear, is everything alright?" Mrs Granger asked slightly worried about him.
"One of Y/n's school friends thought it would amusing to tease a Hippogriff." Y/n's grandmother quickly covered for him. "Hippogriffs are very proud magical creatures and when insulted they can be difficult. Y/n was simply unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of a blow from on as he saved his friend."
"Very brave to save your friend like that." Mr Granger feeling some respect for Y/n but it only made him feel slightly guilty.
"I really should have done more." Y/n replied, he was thinking about Cedric again.
"Nonsense." His Grandmother cut him off. "You did superbly given the situation you were in. Judging from the Granger's reactions to hearing about this scar I can only guess you've been hiding it the entire month." She said next with a raised brow.
"Just from Mr and Mrs Granger." Y/n admitted unable to meet her eyes. "I did not want to cause any unnecessary concerns..."
"Silly boy...you are too modest." Frieda shook her head and she turned to address Hermione's parents. "I must thank you both for looking after my Grandson this past month." She said to them gratefully.
"Oh, It was no trouble at all." Mrs Granger said. "He's been nothing but polite and respectful, we all had a wonderful time as short as it was. We'd love to have him again sometime."
"Well....Y/n could always come stay with us couldn't he..." Hermione spoke up now and everyone turned their heads towards her. "For Christmas I mean."
"While I would not want to impose Y/n most likely will need somewhere to stay if he does not stay at school this Christmas, I am being kept rather busy these days." Frieda sighed.
"Well we did say we would be happy to take him of course." Mrs Granger started.
"The thing is, we were thinking of taking Hermione skiing this year. Has Y/n ever gone skiing Ms Grindelwald?" Mr Granger asked.
In truth, Frieda had never heard of such a thing but age gave her all the wisdom she needed to reply. "Y/n has not no, though I dare say he usually is open to try new things however and I will be willing to cover any cost that should arise of course."
"Oh we're not worried about the costs as such." Mrs Granger was quick to say. "It's just...skiing can be dangerous for those who are inexperienced with it."
"I trust you both enough to look after my grandson and as of now nothing is set in stone of course, So we have time to discuss the matter at a later date. Y/n, Hermione. I am afraid we will have to leave now, we are running short on time." Ms Grindelwald said.
"Alright, I will move our trunks so Hermione can have more time to say goodbye to her parents." Y/n said and he began to move his and her trunks and cages to the front door now.
"I really wish you weren't going dear." Mrs Granger said sadly as she hugged Hermione goodbye.
"I know mom..." Hermione said hugging her back and then hugging her dad. "But you will both see me for Christmas, and who knows maybe Y/n will join us."
Her parents gave her a sad smile feeling reluctant to let her go but knowing it was what she wanted to do.
Y/n entered the room again now and stood in front of the Grangers. "I am sorry for the inconvenience this sudden development has caused. In truth, I have very much enjoyed my time here this past month. This home has been very welcoming and warm to me. I look forward to when I next visit. Thank you for taking care of me." Y/n said bowing his head to Mr and Mrs Granger before leaving with his grandmother and Hermione.
"I like that boy..." Mrs Granger says to her husband.
Y/n and Hermione had followed his grandmother to a quiet small field away from the houses.
"This shall have to do, now given our luggage and the fact you are both not of age we will have to travel by broom. Y/n you have your broom already so you will be taking Hermione and following me while I will be carrying the trunks and cages in a harness attached to my broom." His grandmother said.
"Oh Noctis and Crookshanks will not like that at all." Y/n said worried.
"That is why I plan to put them to sleep for the journey then reawaken them when we arrive." Y/n's Grandmother explained as she took out what looked to be sleeping draught.
"I suppose that will work." Y/n said. Hermione however looked quite concerned.
"Do not worry Granger." Ms Grindelwald said noticing the look on her face. "These have been made with both your cats in mind. The dosage is far lower than a human's version. I am hardly likely to want to poison my grandson's cat now am I?"
"No of course not." Hermione was quick to say and Ms Grindelwald fed both cats a small cat treat with their draught inside. Instantly both cats fell peacefully asleep.
"Now let us load the trunks and cages into the harness." Ms Grindelwald instructed.
Working together the three managed to get trunks and then cages secured into the harness and then Frieda slowly rose to the skies and out of sight above the clouds.
Y/n mounted his own broom now leaving enough room for Hermione to climb on behind him.
"Are you ready?" Y/n asked her.
"I...I think so." Hermione said unsure.
With that Y/n kicked off the ground and they soared high into the air Hermione shrieked and hid her face into Y/n's back, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
"Follow me." Y/n's grandmother called out when they broke through the clouds.
It was a short flight in all as Y/n followed his Grandmother on her broom, both trunks and cages gently swaying in a harness below. Hermione's tight grip around Y/n's waist only ended when they were finally on the ground.
"Are you okay?" Y/n asked her taking her hand and Hermione just hugged him tightly shaking a little from what Y/n couldn't tell was the cold or nerves.
"I really don't like flying..." She said.
"I guess this means I cannot take you for a lap around the Quidditch pitch." Y/n tried to cheer her up.
"Here, you are both to read this. In your heads however, not out aloud..." Y/n's grandmother interrupted as she produced a small piece of parchment and handed it to them.
Y/n held the parchment up and both read upon it. 'The Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix may be found at number twelve, Grimmauld Place, London.' A battered door suddenly emerged out of nowhere between numbers eleven and thirteen, followed swiftly by dirty walls and grimy windows. It was as though an extra house had inflated, pushing those on either side out of its way.
"Come on." Y/n's grandmother said and both Y/n and Hermione grabbed their trunk handles and began to follow.
They walked up the worn stone steps, staring at the newly materialised door. Its black paint was shabby and scratched. The silver doorknocker was in the form of a twisted serpent. There was no keyhole or letterbox.
Y/n's grandmother pointed her wand at the door and a lock clicked and the door opened with her ushering Y/n and Hermione inside first.
The house inside was quite run down, Y/n could smell damp, dust, and a sweetish, rotting smell. the place had the feeling of a derelict building.
Standing in the hallway was a familiar figure that made Y/n heart leap. "Professor Lupin!" Y/n said very surprised but glad to see him.
Though still quite young, Lupin looked tired and rather ill, he had more grey hairs than when Y/n and Harry had last said good-bye to him and his robes were more patched and shabbier than ever. Nevertheless, he was smiling broadly at Y/n, who tried to smile back despite his state of shock.
"Hello Y/n. Still getting into trouble I hear." Lupin greeted him.
"It happens naturally I am afraid." Y/n said rubbing the back of his head. "You remember Hermione of course sir?"
"Of course, Hello again Miss Granger." Lupin smiled at her.
"Hello Professor." Hermione said.
"Come now, I am no longer you're Professor. You both may call me Remus or Lupin as the others do." Lupin told them.
"If it is all the same to you sir, I will still call you Professor Lupin out of respect, for you still are the best teacher I have ever had." Y/n told him.
"Well...If you must." Lupin shook his head and smiled.
A door at the end of the hall opened now and an oddly familiar sound of wood clanking on the floor appeared. Y/n's eyes widened as he saw Professor Moody walking out and towards them. He was quick to draw his wand and aim it at Moody.
"Put that away boy." Moody said.
"Ah I understand your caution Y/n." Lupin said cutting in. "But please, allow me to introduce the real Alastor Moody. Don't worry we checked this time."
Y/n slowly lowered his wand now as Lupin turned to Moody. "I thought you were in the meeting?" Lupin asked him.
"I have said what I needed to, There talking fine details about you know what in there now. I thought I'd get a head start on the Order's mission tonight. Can't be too careful Remus." Moody told him.
"Mr Lupin...what exactly is this place? Hermione began to ask.
"Well as you read on the parchment upon your arrival it is the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix." Lupin said.
"And what exactly is the Order of the Phoenix Professor?" Y/n asked.
"We don't have time to explain Remus, we must get ready if we are to collect Potter." Moody cut in.
"You are going to get Harry?" Hermione asked.
"That's right, It will be safer for him here." Lupin said.
"Then I am coming with you." Y/n suddenly said.
"Y/n, this is a dangerous..." Lupin began but the door at the end of the hall opened again now and stepping out first was Dumbledore. His face did not sport it's usual calm and relaxed look, no this evening it had a look of anger that Y/n had only seen last year when they discovered Barty Crouch Jr.
"Professor!" Both Y/n and Hermione said.
"I am sorry you two, but I have a great many things I must attend to tonight given the situation." He said and with that he left.
"As I was saying..." Lupin began again.
"Y/n may go with you." Y/n's grandmother spoke up now. "Potter could do with a friendly face greeting him."
"You seem to know him well Remus, Can the boy be trusted?" Moody asked.
"Yes, Y/n is a very talented wizard for his age and very loyal to his friends." Lupin said. "But this mission could be dangerous."
"If he can be trusted then I say let him come, The more numbers we have the better. He'll need a broom though." Moody said.
"I have a broom already Mr Moody." Y/n said indicating to the nimbus two thousand near the front door.
"Right it's settled then." Moody said.
"I'm coming too then." Hermione said.
"No. You should stay here, If tonight proved anything you are not the best flier Hermione." Y/n said.
"I'm sorry Hermione but you need to be able to fly with confidence." Lupin smiled sadly.
Hermione looked as if she wanted to argue with them but she could not deny it, she did not like flying at all.
"Look at it this way Hermione, you can use the time to settle in and possibly look for a loophole that might save Harry with the Ministry." Y/n suggested now.
"Oh yes! Of course!" Hermione said with a sudden rush of enthusiasm to start reading.
Other wizards began filing out of the room Dumbledore and Moody had exited but Y/n recognized only one of them. Mrs Weasley.
"Y/n! Hermione!" She said quickly crossing the hall. "So good to see you two. How has your summer been?" She asked but neither had a chance to answer as Lupin began to speak.
"Those of you who have volunteered tonight understand what risks you are undertaking and we thank you for your bravery." Lupin said. "Before we leave however we have another late addition who will be joining us." Lupin put his hand on Y/n's shoulder. "Y/n here is a friend of Harry's and will be helping us collect him tonight."
"Wha..." Mrs Weasley went to protest but she saw Ms Grindelwald's shaking her head at her and fell silent.
"Are you ready Y/n? It's going to be a straight flight there." Lupin asked him.
"I am ready professor." Y/n nodded determined.
"Y/n..." Hermione said getting his attention.
"Yes Hermione?" Y/n said turning to look at her.
Hermione however grabbed his cheeks and pulled him into a short kiss and then hugged him. "Come back safely, alright?"
Y/n just nodded and returned her hug. "I promise..."
"Oh young love..." Y/n and Hermione could hear Mrs Weasley cooing.
Y/n exited Grimmauld place with Lupin and Moody now as the door closed behind him.
"So you and Miss Granger Y/n?" Lupin asked.
Y/n just felt embarrassed. "It is rather new sir."
"Oh I wouldn't say so..." Lupin said mounting his broom. "You both always were very close even in my year. I was certain it would have happened sooner or later."
"You were sir?" Y/n asked.
"Oh yes, It was when you told me what your boggart had changed into during your end of year exam that I knew." Lupin said.
"Save the chatting." Moody cut in now. "I want full attention while we are in the air. Constant Vigilance!"
Y/n just mounted his broom now and on Moody's signal the group took to the skies
