Max went up to his apartment, he took the elevator this time. He wasn't tired, but he was saving every ounce of energy. He had a long night ahead. He wasn't that good with studies and he needed to complete everything discussed in class today, so wasting strength on small things didn't make sense. The elevator hummed quietly as it rose floor by floor, the numbers blinking slowly above the door.

Jennifer opened the door. The apartment lights were dim and warm, the kind you use when someone is sleeping. Seeing him, she smiled widely and hugged him tight without saying anything first. Max patted her back gently, careful with his movements, already understanding the atmosphere here needed quietness. Even his boots stepped softer on the floor.
