*Chop-Chop-Chop-Chop*
Daniel sliced the green apples with practiced precision, plucking out the seeds and lining the pieces neatly in a bowl.
"And… done," he murmured, tossing the chopping board into the corner beside a small stone earthen stove fixed near the window. The kitchen area was open, bare of walls.
He casually swept all the dolls into his wardrobe and locked it, then picked up the bowl. After running his fingers through his hair, he stepped outside.
"Ahm… let's meet my Landlady, ahm…" he thought, carefully masking his filthy grin behind an innocent expression.
*Knock-Knock*
Esmeralda opened the door quietly, slow and deliberate, until Daniel came into view. She then opened it fully.
"Oh, young man," she said, her expression tinged with confusion.
Daniel gave her a warm smile, calmly hiding the bowl behind his back, his expression was calm—innocent, hiding far more than it showed.
