Chapter 33 - Ch:33 The Arcana Town

Ray's eyes were locked onto him, his mind swirling with doubts and burning curiosity. Without any hesitation, he pressed again just as Daniel receiving his tray of food.

"So, you know about the juice thing before the trial, right?"

"Thank you…" Daniel murmured softly to the waiter.

The waiter nodded and left with a warm smile on his face.

Then, Daniel turned to Ray. "I mean yes… but also no," he said hesitantly.

*nom*

He looked down and began eating his meal with clear hunger.

"Huh? What does that even mean?" Ray leaned in with a curious expression.

Daniel lifted his glass of milk and sipped slowly.

'Man… what do I do with this guy? he is creeping the hell out of me,' he thought, vision blurring in frustration. 'I mean who the fuck stares at someone without even blinking their eyes, like an alien.'

"Ahm… a priest told me a few days ago," he lied, setting the glass down on the table.

"What?" Ray's brows shot up.

Daniel made up a story about helping a priest carry a heavy satchel filled with religious books to the church. In return, the old man had dropped a sly hint about the upcoming trial.

A moment of silence settled over the table until Ray shattered it.

"Dude… either you're lying to me, or you've got insanely crazy lucky," he said, eyes wide with disbelief.

"I mean it's upto you man, I just told you the truth," Daniel said confidently, tearing into a fine loaf of bread.

"Then, swear to God—If you aren't lying," Ray said at once.

"I swear."

Daniel paused, grabbed his glass of milk, and chugged down the last drop.

*glug-glug*

'Fucking hell… how did I even end up in this situation," he muttered inwardly. 'This guy is seriously getting on my nerves with his ridiculous questions. I've to leave as soon as possible or—

*Mmph*

Is that Aunt Jessica?'

Daniel's gaze quickly snapped to the window.

A woman with long black hair partially veiled her face, but as his eyes drifted down to her massive, bouncing ass.

He needed no further justification.

"But if—"

Daniel cut Ray off with an open palm. "Uh, sorry to interrupt you, but I just remembered something very important. Agh… I got to go." He bolted from his chair.

"But it was nice talking to you Ray. Can you finish that loaf of bread for me. Thank you…"

Daniel offered him his common loaf of bread, and hurriedly walked toward the counter.

"Sir, how much for the total?" He asked firmly.

"Yours comes six copper coins, young man," the baker said with a smile.

Daniel fished into his money pouch and froze for a split second before handing him copper coins.

"Umm… here's three coins, sir. And another three my friend will cover it. He's over there sitting at the window table. We actually split the bill," Daniel said with a confident expression, pointing his index finger toward Ray, while angling his body to shield the gesture.

The baker glanced over.

Ray sat there, obliviously tearing into the loaf.

"Okay, young man. You're good to go," the baker said with a friendly nod.

"Thanks, sir."

Daniel immediately walked outside and scanned the crowd.

'Fuck, where is that fat ass," he muttered, weaving toward the grocery stalls.

Chitchat buzzed around him. Shoppers haggling with vendors about the increased prices. But Jessica was no where to be seen.

He walked deeper into the market.

"A kilo of beef for five silver coins!"

"Fresh frinto fish for three silver!"

"Red potatoes—for half a silver only!"

The vendors bellowed like it was a shouting contest.

"Agh… why are they screeching like monkeys? don't they have any common sense?" a passerby grumbled, loud enough for Daniel to hear.

Yet Daniel's focus stayed sharp on finding his Aunt.

Then, his gaze dropped on a women bent forward, carefully dragging a wooden pail filled with red potatoes.

"Status," he whispered.

————————

Description: A cheerful housewife who is dissatisfied with her dull sex life in her second marriage. She lives for her children's brighter future and quietly despises her drunken husband.

————————

'Agh… that drunk bastard, can't even satisfied her. She must have married to a dicklet," Daniel thought, leering. 'Just look at that curvy body. Damn… her body should be kept on a museum.'

He sidled up beside her, pretending to browse vegetables. His gaze glued to her massive ass and heavy dangling boobs.

She wore a cream linen shift that fell to her ankles, its sleeves loose and practical. Over it, a brown wool kritle belted at the waist, hugging her hourglass curves firm and tight.

A woven basket dangled from her arm, her scuffed leather shoes clicking swiftly on the stone path.

The sound of each step mingling with chatter and clatter of the bustling marketplace.

Daniel bided his time, patiently waiting for an opportunity—until two women with woven baskets approached Tressa and greeted her warmly.

"Hello, Mrs. Milan… good afternoon."

Tressa turned with a bright smile. "Hello, ladies!"

"Hh… is she popular around here?" Daniel whispered to himself.

The three started chatting in the grocery aisle, as if shopping was forgotten.

Daniel circled around them, blending into the crowd, ears perked for any information.

"By the way, I saw your husband with two bodyguards at the town center. What is he even up to? Hehe…" one lady said.

Tressa felt slightly awkward. "Heh… just ignore him ladies. He is just trying to act tough, which he is not, hehe..."

Daniel narrowed his eyes. "Wait… Two bodyguards? Town center? Is she talking about—"

*BAM*

He slammed into someone, while his eyes was locked on Tressa's nasty figure.

"Ouch!"

"Watch where you going, mister…"the women snapped.

"Agh… my bad," he said, rubbing his forehead.

"Huh? Daniel… what are you doing in this town?"

The familiar voice made him look up. "Oh… hey, Aunt Jess. Long time no see. How are you?"
