Chapter 125: Carrying the Nuclear Missile
"Cool! Where did this come from?" Peter asked happily, taking the web-shooters. He had spares, but they were all black.
"An upgraded version I developed. I referenced your web-shooters and improved the core functionality," Little Black explained. Little Black had secretly entered Peter's room and taken one of his web-shooters for research on Silas's command while Peter was sleeping.
"Upgraded?" Peter noticed there were three circular buttons on the device: White, Red, and Black.
"White shoots normal webs; Red shoots electrified webs; and Black shoots webs with extra stickiness to help you pin down enemies," Little Black explained to Peter. Although the Black webs didn't increase the webs' toughness, they greatly increased their stickiness, allowing for better enemy restraint.
"Cool!" Peter pressed the Red button and shot a web. The electrified web spread mid-air, wrapping around an enemy. Zzzz~ Pop! The Chitauri invader twitched on the ground and was thoroughly knocked out by the electricity.
"The plus and minus signs on the right side of the shooter can increase or decrease the web's voltage. However, the shooter's battery capacity is limited. You can only fire about four or five high-voltage webs at maximum power." Little Black was trying this type of technology for the first time, so it wasn't yet perfect.
"It's fine, it's already amazing! Thanks, buddy." Peter shot a regular web and left. He still needed to find Silas.
Little Black watched Peter's retreating back, then quietly pulled out a pair of web-shooters from his own pocket. He definitely needed to use such a great item too; it gave him one more weapon to use against enemies.
Elsewhere, five Chitauri soldiers arrived next to Loki, who was pinned by the hammer. They tried to lift Mjolnir to save Loki.
"A bunch of fools!" Loki cursed inwardly. How could Mjolnir be lifted by these foot soldiers?
"Loki!" Thor suddenly rushed out, killed the five Chitauri with the Scepter, and then bent down with concern. "Loki, are you alright? Are you hurt?" From Thor's perspective, he had seen five Chitauri brutes surrounding the pinned Loki, intent on harming him.
"I'm fine, Thor. But I would be better if you would just take the hammer away," Loki wanted Thor to pick up the hammer. As long as the hammer was lifted, he had ways to escape from Thor's grasp. Thor was a fool, after all.
"Not yet, sorry. You know you always take advantage of my love for you." Thor wouldn't fall for it this time.
Another Location
"Hello, it's nice to meet you. My name is the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. You seem to know me," the Ancient One said, smiling at Silas.
"Can I say no?" Silas replied, exasperated.
The Ancient One chuckled, waved her left hand, and a transparent protective sphere enveloped the two of them.
"Your power is very strange. I can sense it belongs to a different dimension, yet you yourself are a native of this world, unless your soul..." The Ancient One stopped, confident Silas understood her meaning.
Silas complimented her. "As expected of the Ancient One. But why did you call me here, Sorcerer?"
"Don't worry, I won't do anything to you. Since you were born here, this is already your home," the Ancient One said.
"Thank you, of course, I consider this my home..." No sooner had Silas finished speaking than the Ancient One struck his chest with her palm.
Silas's body suddenly collapsed to the ground. The image of "Silas" as a person from his past life floated in mid-air, staring at his hands in shock. Had his soul been knocked out of his body?
"So this is your true appearance," the Ancient One said, letting Silas return to his body. "You are also a person of Earth."
"You can think of it as a parallel world," Silas said, getting up from the ground and regaining control of his body.
"Although your power is very strange, I can sense it's a kind of magic. Is it magic from another world?" The Ancient One was quite curious about this.
"Yes, but only I can use it," Silas replied.
The Ancient One smiled, pressed her index and ring fingers together, and drew a circle in the air. An orange-red portal opened, revealing Kamar-Taj on the other side.
"Care to sit for a while?" the Ancient One asked, stopping before stepping through the portal and turning to Silas.
"No, thank you," Silas declined.
The Ancient One's lips curved upward, and she stepped calmly through the portal. The portal closed the instant she was gone.
The magical shield concealing Silas and the Ancient One vanished. Silas gazed blankly at the spot where the Ancient One had left.
A moment later, a voice called out, "Silas!" Peter came running up to Silas.
"Why are you here?" Silas asked, confused.
Peter explained, "I saw you disappear earlier and thought you were in danger, so I was looking all over for you." He then asked, "By the way, how are you here?! I passed through this exact spot earlier and didn't see you."
"I was just below this building and just came out," Silas knew that was the effect of the Ancient One's magical shield.
"Oh, I see," Peter nodded.
"What about the Avengers?" Silas changed the subject.
"They're still fighting the enemies over there, but Mr. Stark is gone now too," Peter said. He had been looking for Stark while searching for Silas.
"Stark?" Silas realized something: the nuclear missile must be arriving soon.
A Cross-Sea Bridge
Tony had quickly burst out of the Chitauri forces' encirclement, even taking out one Chitauri Leviathan along the way. After clearing the immediate enemies, he had stayed there, waiting for the nuclear missile's arrival.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., how far is it now?" Tony was highly nervous. It was a nuclear missile; if he messed up, everyone in New York City would die.
"Estimated arrival in thirty seconds," J.A.R.V.I.S. reported, having scanned the missile's location using the radar system.
"Hmm... J.A.R.V.I.S., I'm a little envious that you're an AI," Tony chuckled softly.
"Envious of what, sir? That my intelligence surpasses yours?" J.A.R.V.I.S. understood what Tony meant.
Tony smiled slightly, then, "Sir, the missile is here!" J.A.R.V.I.S. immediately reported.
Tony instantly looked up and indeed saw a nuclear missile flying toward them.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., divert all power to the thrusters." Tony shot out like a missile, positioning himself beneath the nuclear warhead. He held the missile with his hands; he was determined to carry it into the wormhole.
"Understood, sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. said.
Boom!
In an instant, the power of Tony's suit surpassed the missile's propulsion, forcefully changing the missile's direction, sending it flying toward the wormhole above Stark Tower.
"Guys! The big one is here!" Tony shouted strenuously.
Stark Tower Top
"The nuclear missile is coming!" Natasha shouted.
"Honestly, I really don't want to experience that," Barton said, spotting Tony carrying the missile in the distance.
"Ugh..." Steve said, breathing heavily.
Natasha reached out. "Thor, give me the Scepter."
Thor immediately handed the Scepter to Natasha. Natasha took the Scepter, aimed it at the Tesseract, ready to close the spatial wormhole at any moment.
"Here I come!" Tony flew into view, carrying the nuclear missile in his hands.
