"Oh, right, did Uncle Ben come upstairs?" Peter asked, focusing on his main concern.
Silas awkwardly replied, "I'm sorry, Peter, I was so tired I fell asleep, so I don't know if Uncle Ben came up."
According to the message from Big Black before he vanished, Uncle Ben did come up, opened the door, saw "him" sleeping, closed the door, and then left, but Big Black didn't know where Ben went.
Peter fell silent. He didn't need to guess; Uncle Ben must have looked for him. I'm in trouble—how am I going to explain not being in my room? The crucial point, as Silas said, was that he hadn't used the door to leave. How could he explain that?
"Silas, do you think I'm doomed?" Peter asked.
Silas, relying on pure intuition, said, "I think, what if Uncle Ben didn't actually look for you?"
"No way, he promised just before that he was coming upstairs to play a game with us," Peter immediately refuted Silas's suggestion.
Peter felt his head spinning from worry. Had his secret identity been exposed so quickly?
"Silas, should I just go confess to Uncle Ben now? Since he probably already suspects it," Peter shared his idea with Silas.
Silas rolled his eyes in exasperation. "Peter, just wait. Those are only your guesses. Wait for Uncle Ben to bring it up first."
"Okay, I guess that makes sense." Peter thought about it. If Uncle Ben didn't know, and he confessed, that would be even worse.
After exchanging a few more words, Peter prepared to leave through the window.
"Wait! Peter, use the front door," Silas stopped him.
Peter chuckled. "Sorry, it's a habit." He opened the door, turned, and said, "Good night, Silas."
Click!
"Honestly, he never uses the door, always the window," Silas muttered with a yawn, quickly falling asleep himself.
Early the next morning, Peter insisted that Silas join him for washing up. He was afraid Uncle Ben would question him, and having Silas there would help him explain things.
After washing up, the two went downstairs for breakfast.
As soon as he reached the bottom of the stairs, Silas saw Ben Parker sitting on the sofa, calmly reading the newspaper.
"Good morning, Uncle Ben!" Silas called out.
Seeing Peter frozen, Silas nudged him with his shoulder, and Peter quickly followed up with, "Good morning, Uncle Ben!"
"Good morning, Silas! Peter!" Ben Parker turned, smiling, and asked, "Silas, how are your injuries feeling?"
"Much better," Silas said, moving his leg slightly to show his recovery was progressing well. Still, he needed Peter's help to move around; running freely would take more time. If The Lizard had tried to fight back last night, I wouldn't have been able to stop him in my current state. Luckily, he was completely terrified of me.
"Peter, you need to take good care of Silas; he's injured right now," Ben Parker said, putting down the newspaper.
Peter nodded. "Of course, Uncle Ben. Silas is my brother."
"By the way, Uncle Ben, about last night..." Silas took the initiative to bring up the previous night's events. It was better to strike first than wait for Ben Parker to ask.
Peter tensed up completely, hearing Silas mention last night.
"Last night?" Ben Parker thought for a moment, then looked apologetic. "Silas, if you hadn't brought it up, I would have forgotten. After dinner, I was so full and tired that I just went to bed. I'm sorry, Silas and Peter."
"Is that true?!" Peter was overjoyed. "It's fine, Uncle Ben!"
"What's wrong, Peter? Are you underestimating me, the middle-aged competitor?" Ben Parker said, flexing his arm.
Peter quickly shook his head. "No, no, Uncle Ben! How could we ever look down on you?"
Silas, standing nearby, was puzzled. Wait, Big Black clearly said Uncle Ben came up. That means Uncle Ben is lying. Why would Uncle Ben lie? Could he have guessed Peter's secret identity but decided not to reveal it? Realizing this, Silas understood. That must be the case.
Norman's Home
After sending his son Harry off to school, Norman entered his private laboratory. All the Green Goblin's equipment was kept here! Not even his son knew about the massive hidden space behind his mirror.
"Tony Stark, is it? Let's see who's better!" Norman had set his sights on Iron Man, Tony Stark! The issues within his own company were resolved; now he needed to take care of his market competitor, Stark Industries. He hadn't wanted to provoke Stark, but Stark had crossed the line!
"Heh ha ha ha!" Norman put on the Green Goblin suit, stepped onto his glider, and flew out of his home, heading straight for Stark Tower.
Norman quickly arrived at the tower. Staring at the building, he pulled a pumpkin bomb from his belt. "Explode!"
Boom!
The pumpkin bomb flew into Stark Tower and detonated, shattering countless glass shards that fell and injured many innocent pedestrians below.
Freedom City (Tony Stark's HQ)
"Sir, Stark Tower is currently under attack by an unknown individual. This is the live footage from the scene," J.A.R.V.I.S. quickly projected a video feed.
Tony, who was boxing with Happy, immediately looked at the screen and saw a person in green throwing a bomb at his tower.
"That green caterpillar must have a death wish," Tony dropped his gloves and stepped off the ring. "J.A.R.V.I.S.!"
Instantly, a Mark 4 suit appeared before Tony. He quickly donned the armor. "Time to spray some insecticide on that green caterpillar!"
Whoosh! Tony flew out of Freedom City.
"Wait!" Happy didn't even have time to react before Tony was gone.
"Well, I guess I could have worn mine," Happy sighed, forced to take a car, having hoped to hitch a ride with his boss.
Suddenly, Tony's voice echoed in the room. "Sorry, you would have made me overweight, and there are no suitable suits for you here!"
"..." Happy was speechless.
Stark Tower
After the first blast, Norman stopped his bombing run. He needed to save enough ammunition to send Stark to God when he arrived.
A few minutes later, Tony arrived, spotting Norman hovering in the air immediately.
"You green caterpillar, who are you, exactly?" Tony asked, his eyes filled with fury as he glanced at the gaping hole in his building.
"You finally showed up, Stark!" Norman didn't waste words and immediately threw a pumpkin bomb at Tony.
Tony raised his arm, the laser pulse already charged. The battle had instantly begun!
