Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

The mages began to emerge from the gigantic magic circle in the night sky above Kuoh.

One by one, then dozens, then hundreds.

Bursts of magic rained down upon the academy buildings.

Spell seals were fired toward the guarding forces of the three races—devils, angels, and fallen angels—stationed around the conference area. Magical barriers immediately activated, collisions of energy filling the air with flashes of light and successive thunderous booms.

"Wow… there are quite a lot of them," Azazel remarked casually, as if commenting on heavy rain rather than a large-scale invasion.

Issei stood near the window, staring at the scene with wide eyes.

"What the heck is this!?" he shouted. "Who are they!?"

"Ah, you don't know, huh," Azazel replied with a crooked smile. "They're mages."

"Mages…?" Issei swallowed.

"Moo that's not very polite," Serafall suddenly chimed in with a cheerful tone despite the dire situation. "There's a Mahou Shoujo right here, you know!"

No one responded to the joke.

Sirzechs Lucifer stepped forward, his expression turning serious. He turned to face his sister and the wielder of the Boosted Gear.

"Rias. Issei," he said in a calm but firm voice. "May I entrust you both with a task?"

Rias immediately straightened.

"Of course, Nii-sama."

Sirzechs looked at her deeply. "Save Gasper."

Rias clenched her fist, her eyes blazing with resolve.

"Gasper is my peer," she said without hesitation. "He is precious family to me. Even without being ordered… I would save him."

Issei nodded hard, clenching his fist.

"Yeah! We'll save Gasper from those people! Wait for us, Gasper, Koneko!"

Sirzechs let out a relieved breath—not because the situation had improved, but because he knew the task was in the right hands.

"I see…" he murmured softly. "I'm grateful you're here."

He then turned to the side.

"Grayfia."

"Yes, my lord."

Grayfia Lucifuge stepped forward. A silver-haired woman with cold beauty, wearing a neat and elegant French-style maid outfit. Her magical aura was calm, yet deep—enough to make the air around her feel heavy.

She raised her hand, silver magical symbols appearing in the air.

A teleportation spell.

She raised her hand, silver magical symbols appearing in the air.

A teleportation spell.

Light enveloped Rias and Issei, forming a smaller but dense magic circle.

"Ah, take these with you." Azazel handed two bracelets to Issei and Rias. "One is for you, and the other is for your friend they've taken hostage," he added at the end.

Both nodded, and Grayfia completed her incantation.

The light burst softly—and in an instant, Rias and Issei vanished from the room.

Sirzechs gazed at the empty spot where they had stood moments before.

"Be careful," he said quietly.

Outside, the skies over Kuoh continued to blaze with magical clashes.

And far beyond all of their sight, another figure had already begun to move—following the flow of fate as it slowly shifted from its original path.

...

Meanwhile, Jun had already been there since the afternoon.

Behind the old school building, in an area surrounded by ancient trees, he stood silently atop a branch like a shadow fused with dusk. There was no aura. No pressure. No sign of supernatural life at all.

The reason Rias and the others had never found him was simple.

The mask he wore.

A plain white mask—no carvings, no symbols, no expression. Its surface was smooth, almost like ceramic, yet it reflected light in a strange way. It was no ordinary artifact.

That mask erased one hundred percent of his presence.

Jun leaned against the tree trunk, arms folded, his breathing steady. Since the afternoon he had been waiting, reading the flow of the world, counting each second until this moment.

And finally—

A massive dome sealed off Kuoh Academy.

The colors of the world faded. Sound froze. The air grew heavy, as if reality itself were being forcibly restrained by someone's will.

Everything turned gray.

Time had stopped.

Jun opened his eyes.

"So that's how it is…" he murmured softly behind the mask. "I've finally been forced into it."

He sensed the source clearly.

Gasper Vladi.

A time-manipulation Sacred Gear forcibly activated—even pushed into the state of Balance Breaker. A dangerous, crude, and unstable act. Worse still, there was another presence dragged into its effect.

Koneko.

"Vali…" Jun whispered quietly. "You really are impatient."

Jun stepped forward.

The leaves frozen in midair did not move as he passed. The drifting dust did not react. Even the frozen world itself failed to acknowledge his footsteps.

Because to him, time was not a prison.

Behind the white mask, his eyes narrowed.

The time had come.

It was time for him to act.
