Chapter 46 - Chapter 46

On the other side of the hill, far from the center of the chaos—

a silver-haired young man stood with his hands tucked into the pockets of his black jacket. His attire was dark-toned, simple, with the lazy aura of someone too strong to care. His gaze was fixed on Kuoh Academy, now completely covered by a massive barrier dome.

Vali Lucifer let out a long sigh.

"Haah… another cleanup job," he muttered flatly, almost without emotion.

Inside him, an old yet calm voice echoed.

[What is making you so irritated, Vali?]

Vali gave a thin smirk. "Who knows. Maybe I'm starting to get bored of this world."

[I see… so you've finally reached the point where even being the strongest feels empty.]

"I guess so," Vali replied casually. "I was just born in the wrong era, Albion. If the God of the Bible were still alive, maybe I could have had a little fun."

[Then what about your rival?]

Vali chuckled softly. "Rival? Is that my rival or yours? Ddraig is your business, not mine."

Albion fell silent for a moment before answering with certainty.

[Our fates are bound together. Sooner or later, you will definitely meet him.]

"Hehehe… I'll be waiting," Vali replied. "Though honestly, I heard that Ddraig's host in this era is the weakest of all his users. So I'm not expecting much."

[In that case, what about their offer?]

Vali knew exactly whom Albion meant.

Chaos Brigade.

Ophis—the Infinite Dragon, the Serpent That Encircles the World.

Vali shrugged. "Unfortunately, Ophis isn't interested in me."

[…That is just like her.]

The conversation was cut short when—

BOOM.

The protective dome in the distance shuddered violently.

Vali narrowed his eyes. "Looks like I should hurry—"

[VALI, DODGE!!]

Too late.

Something slammed into him from the side with brutal force.

"Argh!!"

Vali's body was hurled to the ground, and before he could rise, a strange, silver-glimmering cloth wrapped around him rapidly—binding his arms, legs, even his chest in one smooth motion.

Vali tried to activate his power.

He couldn't.

Divide did not respond, and magic failed to flow.

Even his aura of power was being forcibly suppressed.

"What—!?"

Rage flared instantly in his eyes.

"WHO!!" he roared, Vali's voice echoing across the hillside.

The thin mist parted.

From the shadows, a figure stepped forward.

Jet-black armor enveloped its body, with glowing red lines like living wounds pulsing softly. Its helmet formed the face of a savage beast, with blazing red eyes staring coldly at Vali.

The pressure emitted by that figure was… alien.

The figure stopped a few steps in front of Vali.

"Sorry about this," it said.

The voice was heavy, muffled by the helmet—yet unmistakably calm. Far too calm for someone who had just ambushed the heir of Lucifer.

Vali smirked despite being bound. "You've got guts, attacking from behind."

The armored figure raised one hand, and the bindings around Vali glimmered faintly.

[Gleipnir – Rank A]

'A magical chain forged by the Nordic dwarves to bind Fenrir, the world-devourer.

Effective against feral beings and entities with strong predator instincts.

Duration: 1 hour.'

"Relax," the armored figure continued. "I only need a bit of your time."

Vali stared at him intently, silver eyes narrowing.

"…Interesting," he murmured. "Who are you, really?"

Behind the black helmet traced with glowing red lines, Jun smiled faintly—a smile no one could see, but enough for himself.

"Just think of it as," he replied lightly, as if introducing a casual nickname,

"Cheon Ma."

The air around them seemed to freeze for a moment.

Vali's eyes widened slightly—just slightly, but enough to show genuine surprise.

"…Cheon Ma?" he murmured softly.

The name was not unfamiliar.

Not because of this world's history—but because of instinct. Instinct honed by Albion, by battle, by absolute power.

Vali swallowed.

'This… is different.'

This presence was nothing like Issei Hyoudou.

If Ddraig and his host felt like a rabbit still learning how to bite, then the figure before him—

was a ferocious tiger already accustomed to the hunt.

And what made it even stranger…

What he felt wasn't anger, but excitement.

'Finally…' he thought, the corner of his lips curling into a thin smile. 'Finally, someone worthy.'

Albion fell silent within him. For the first time, even the White Dragon of the Heavens did not comment immediately.

Jun, on the other hand, sensed something he didn't like.

It was the gaze of a warrior who had found a new toy.

The hairs on Jun's neck bristled beneath the armor.

'Damn… that expression is turning unhealthy.'

Gleipnir restrained Vali's body, but his lust for battle was clearly not bound at all.

Jun had no intention of prolonging this moment.

His goal wasn't Vali.

His goal was Kuoh Academy.

Without another word, Jun stepped back, then his body trembled faintly. He then flew toward Kuoh Academy.

...

The battlefield finally fell silent—a heavy silence, one that pressed down on the chest.

On the cracked and scorched ground, Freed Selzen lay motionless. His body was covered in wounds, his breathing ragged, his eyes empty as he stared at the sky sealed by the magic dome. Nearby, Excalibur—the holy sword forcibly fused together—was no longer shaped like a sword.

Cracks ran along its blade.

Then—

Crack.

With a fragile sound that was almost pitiful, Excalibur shattered into pieces, turning into fragments of light that faded and vanished into the air. The six fragments forced together by Valper's mad hand finally gave in—not to demonic power, but to imbalance.

And Valper Galilei himself—

was no longer there.

His body had evaporated into ash, swept away by the wind, after Kokabiel's spear of light pierced him mercilessly. There was no scream. No drama. Just a cold end for a traitor.

On the other side of the field, those still standing… stood with undisguised exhaustion.

Rias Gremory panted, her breathing heavy. The members of her Peerage—Issei, Kiba, Akeno, Koneko, and Asia—had clearly reached their limits. Small and large wounds were visible everywhere. Meanwhile, Sona Sitri held on from a distance, maintaining the barrier dome with a tense expression, enduring the constant pressure of power pressing in from outside.

And at the center of it all—

Kokabiel floated leisurely.

His eight black wings were spread wide, feathers glimmering faintly under the light of dusk. His face showed no fatigue. No significant wounds. There was only a satisfied smile, the smile of someone savoring every second of others' suffering.

"Ahh…" Kokabiel let out a long sigh, as if he had just watched a very entertaining show. "Look at all of your faces."

His eyes swept over them one by one—the devils, the exorcists, the humans dragged into this conflict.

"Tired. Confused. Despairing," he continued lightly. "Beautiful."

Xenovia Quarta clenched her sword tightly, her jaw hardening. Asia Argento stood beside her, her face pale, hands trembling as she gripped her small staff.

"You…" Xenovia opened her mouth, restraining her anger. "What is your true goal?"

Kokabiel chuckled softly. "My goal? Oh, clearly, it's for another great war!"

He leaned forward, as if about to whisper a secret.

"Do you know why I can act this freely?" he said. "Why I care so much about a great war and don't care at all about treaties or the balance of the world?"

He paused for a moment—long enough to make everyone's heart pound faster.

"Because the God of the Bible is already dead."

The words fell like a hammer.

Asia's face froze. Her eyes widened, her breath caught. "Th… that's impossible…"

Xenovia stared, her pupils trembling. "That… is a lie."

Kokabiel shrugged. "Believe it or not, it's a fact."

He glanced toward Rias, his smile widening even further. "And you devils—don't pretend to be shocked. You knew, didn't you?"

Rias stiffened. She didn't answer. Her silence was answer enough.

"The God of the Bible," Kokabiel continued casually, "died in the great war long ago. Along with the four Great Demon Kings of the old generation. That war consumed them all."

The silence grew suffocating.

"Look at you all," he said with satisfaction. "Those expressions. That doubt. That fear."

He laughed softly, sincerely, almost cheerfully. "This is what I want. A world no longer protected by God. A world that is finally honest with itself."

His wings flapped slowly, the pressure in the air intensifying.

"Now that the truth is known, it's time for me to open another great war—by killing all of you along with this city!!"

Then the dome suddenly shattered.
