Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Marvel (MCU) 11

I suddenly got a call from Motherf*cker brother.

"Motherf*cker brother, what's up?"

"That damn motherf*cker... sigh... an unknown object has fallen to Earth right now. Your technology is the most advanced, so I'd like you to check it out."

Given the timing, it was Thor 1. Frankly, there was nothing to gain and it would resolve itself, so I was planning to ignore it, but I got the call.

"The location must be New Mexico. In the shape of a hammer."

"This is crazy. How did you know?"

"It's circulating on the internet right now. A hammer that can't be pulled out, right? Motherf*cker brother, don't you use social networks like Instagram?"

"I'm too busy to have time for that. And most of what I do is classified. Do you think that's possible?"

"That's true. Anyway, I'll go check it out myself."

"That's the most pleasant thing I've heard all day. Agent Phil Coulson will be at the scene, so use him as needed. Don't forget to share information."

I entrusted the company to Minerva and this time, drove to New Mexico alone in a Hummer.

"It's true that driving in America is fun."

Driving down the long, straight road, I arrived in New Mexico to see people in black suits who looked like SHIELD agents setting up portable buildings and various equipment. Phil Coulson spotted me and walked over.

"Jin, you're here. Phil Coulson. You saw me once at the hearing, right? I heard from the Director."

We shook hands lightly.

"Nice to meet you, Agent Phil Coulson. Director Nick Fury said to take a look at what fell."

"I heard from the Director. If you need anything, please let me know. We'll support you as much as possible."

Looking around, I didn't see the friend who should be here.

"Didn't that friend who's good with a bow come?"

When I asked, Phil Coulson hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"I don't know how you knew, but she's busy with other missions."

So, with Natasha gone, they must be really short-handed. That meant if something beyond human military force occurred, they were essentially telling me to handle it myself. Nick Fury probably aimed for that.

'To use what I said about helping with big things like this right away... really, Motherf*cker brother.'

"Let's take a look first."

"Understood. We've confirmed there's no radiation or contaminants, so you can probably just go look at it."

Phil Coulson and I moved to where Mjolnir was. I don't know why they installed so much, but we went through quarantine stations, laboratories, etc., circling around and finally arrived.

'I understand it's a government agency, but this is a bit much.'

"That hammer you see over there."

Upon arrival, I checked, and perhaps because many efforts had been made to lift Mjolnir, the dirt underneath was bulging up. As I approached to check, researchers and guards watched.

"Hmm... this is the metal called Uru."

"Do you know this material?"

"If Earth has Vibranium, the universe has Uru. It's an extremely rare metal."

Phil Coulson urgently spoke to an agent waiting nearby. Well, telling them this much shouldn't matter since Thor will just take it and leave anyway.

"Quickly inform the Director. The Magician knows the hammer's identity."

"Understood."

Thus, an agent who received Phil's order quickly went somewhere. Probably to contact Nick Fury. And it seems I'm called 'the Magician' within SHIELD. Still, is that better than the chuunibyou-like 'Silver Flash' title from Konosuba?

"So I'm called that in SHIELD."

"That's right. Isn't it cool? The Magician! You fight with a wand and throw cards, so from my perspective, it seems like a perfect codename."

Phil Coulson has a sincere side about these things. Now that I think about it, for a supporting character, he had quite a personality.

"I see."

"Do you know anything more about the metal called Uru?"

"I don't know the details either, but that it's nearly indestructible and can hold special powers is all I know."

To be precise, it could hold magic. And according to Marvel (MCU) settings, it was slightly stronger than Vibranium.

"But is this originally unliftable? Or are there conditions?"

"Normally, with Uru, it's not that you can't lift it or anything."

"What do you mean?"

"In this hammer's case, I suspect some power is imbued in it, making it unliftable."

Odin placed a spell so only those worthy could lift it. I couldn't tell them that far.

"I see. It's mealtime now, so let's eat. I don't know if it'll suit your taste, but it shouldn't be too bad. The coffee, however, is excellent."

Thus, we moved to the cafeteria and had a meal. The menu was steak, potatoes, and grilled vegetables. I sat in the cafeteria with Phil, ate, and drank coffee. Phil worried whether such food would suit my taste since he knew I was incredibly wealthy, but it was a decent meal. I wasn't rich from the start either.

"Um... could I get an autograph?"

A few SHIELD agents approached and requested autographs, so I signed and took photos with them.

"Well then, I'll go submit my report. I have a lot to write today. And if you get bored, there's a village nearby, so you can go have fun. We'll contact you if anything urgent happens."

'These guys have no intention of letting me go easily. They should handle it themselves with this much information. I'm a busy person too.'

It was clearly Motherf*cker brother's doing. Probably meaning they'd keep me around for a while in case something happened. Since I was here anyway, I thought I'd go see Thor, the headbutt master 'Jane Foster', the surprisingly genius 'Darcy Lewis', and the strange doctor 'Erik Selvig', so I left the SHIELD temporary base.

"I'm sure the village name was Puente something."

I zoomed out the map on the navigation to check, and there was only a village called Puente Antiguo nearby, so I went there.

"A village nearby, my ass."

Phil definitely said there was a village nearby, but the village called Puente Antiguo was a bit far. Maybe because America's landmass is large, they expressed it that way. Arriving at the village, I filled the car with gas and looked around; it wasn't a very large village. While looking around, I saw the exact same restaurant from the movie, so I parked the car in a suitable place and peeked through the window. Luckily, the timing seemed right, as I saw Thor, Jane, Darcy, and Dr. Selvig having a meal.

"How were you in the clouds?"

When I entered the restaurant, Darcy was asking Thor various questions.

"This drink, I like it!"

"I know, it's pretty good, right?"

"Another!"

As Thor shouted and was about to throw the cup on the floor, I went and caught the cup.

Thud!

"Whoa whoa, calm down, friend. This is Earth. If you've come to Earth, you should follow Earth's laws."

"Uh, uh, uh, that person is Chairman Jin! Am I dreaming? My love Jin appearing."

'Huh? My love?'

Darcy said something strange. Jane and Dr. Selvig also looked surprised, opening their mouths and staring at me intently.

"Y, you, why are you here..."

"I had business nearby. I just stopped by."

Thor also looked at me for a moment and spoke.

"Handsome friend, good strength."

Thor, perhaps sensing my strength transmitted through the cup, said that. The current Thor had his powers sealed, so he only had the strength of a sturdy man, which might be why.

Then Darcy suddenly grabbed Jane's research journal, flipped to the very back, found a blank page, tore it out, and handed it to me.

"Um... could you sign this?"

Jane glared at Darcy for that action, but Darcy paid no heed. The situation was a bit strange, but I signed it anyway.

"And a photo too..."

Thus, I also took a photo with her.

"So good! I think I'm going crazy. This isn't a dream, right? Can I hug you just once?"

"Hey! Stop that!"

Jane thought Darcy's actions were going too far and grabbed her to stop her.

"Sorry. Darcy is a huge fan of the Chairman."

"It's fine."

Darcy was a beauty, so I didn't feel bad, but it was a bit awkward. Then Thor spoke.

"Handsome friend, do you know me by any chance?"

"I do, Asgardian."

"Then, help me a bit. I need to find Mjolnir."

"Okay. I'll help."

Thus, we left the restaurant and moved in my car.

'But why are they following?'

Thor sat in the passenger seat, and Jane, Darcy, and Dr. Selvig were in the back seat. Looking back, Darcy was giving me an intense look, so I quickly turned my gaze forward.

"Ahem... well, let's go then."

Thus, we drove toward the SHIELD temporary base. Jane, as if she had just come to her senses, asked.

"Um... where are we going?"

"Took you long enough to ask. Anyway, I'd like to ask instead. Why did you get in?"

"I did because this man (Thor) and Darcy got in... naturally... Doctor, why did you get in?"

Jane, perhaps embarrassed, looked at Dr. Selvig sitting quietly beside her and spoke.

"I did because you got in, Jane... Darcy, why did you get in?"

"I can follow Chairman Jin to the ends of the Earth."

"..."

"..."

"..."

'These guys make no sense.'

Thus, we arrived at the SHIELD base. Agent Phil Coulson saw us getting out of the car and hurriedly approached.

"Jin! What are you doing bringing civilians?"

"They're not just civilians. This gentleman is astrophysicist Dr. Selvig, Jane Foster, and intern Darcy Lewis."

"If it's Dr. Selvig, we were preparing to seize the research materials we need."

Perhaps because of me, it was delayed, or unlike the original, they seemed to be preparing to set out to seize the research materials now. Hearing that, Jane flustered and spoke urgently.

"What do you mean seize? By what right!?"

"We are investigating a threat to national security. We'd appreciate your cooperation."

As the atmosphere suddenly turned strange, I decided to help. I didn't like SHIELD's working methods either.

"Whoa whoa, everyone calm down and Agent Phil Coulson."

"Yes, Chairman Jin."

"How about just cooperating? When will you finish analyzing all the materials after seizing them? Isn't SHIELD short-handed right now? I think it would be better to get help directly from the doctors who did the research themselves."

"Hmm... that makes sense, but there are security issues, so I can't answer that on my own. I'll ask the Director."

Meanwhile, Thor was looking around here and there, searching for Mjolnir.

"Oh right, and this friend is the alien Thor."

"I see. An alien? He looks perfectly normal but has a peculiar nickname."

Phil Coulson took my mention of 'alien' as a nickname. Well, even I wouldn't believe it if someone called a person who looks like a normal Earthling an alien.

"No, he calls that hammer Mjolnir and is looking for it. So I brought him."

"What? Is that true?"

Thor, hearing that conversation, came over and spoke.

"Where is Mjolnir?"

"The conversation will be over soon, so wait a moment. Don't cause trouble."

"Alright. But I'd appreciate it if you could be quick."

I spoke to Phil Coulson again.

"Let's have him make contact with the hammer first. Then you'll know. If anything happens, I'll step in."

"Chairman Jin. Please give us a moment so our agents can prepare too."

"Sure."

Phil Coulson hurriedly ran off and gave various instructions to other agents. The agents moved busily upon Phil's instructions. It seemed like it would take some time, so I spoke to Thor.

"How did you end up on Earth?"

"I was exiled because of my father's stubbornness."

"Will you go back right away if you find the hammer?"

"I'm an exile now, so I don't know how Father will receive me, but I should at least go see."

"I see."

Perhaps the preparations were finished, as Phil Coulson came over and spoke to me.

"Preparations are complete. Let's go."

Under Phil's guidance, we moved to Mjolnir again.

"Handsome friend, thank you for helping. I'll definitely repay this favor. I promise in the name of Thor Odinson."

Arriving at the place where Mjolnir was, cameras, security agents, and researchers were waiting all around.

"Finally."

Thor approached Mjolnir, grabbed the handle, and exerted strength, but Mjolnir didn't budge. He tried several times with both hands, but the result was the same.

"Uwaaaaaah!"

Thor looked at the sky and screamed. Probably expressing resentment toward his father, Odin.

Then I approached, grabbed Mjolnir, and lifted it.

"Huh?"

"Huh?"
