The new guy shifted his weight from one foot to the other the moment the question left my mouth, fingers flying up to tug nervously at the collar of his button-down like the fabric had suddenly decided to strangle him. The motion pulled the material away from his throat just enough for me to catch a glimpse of smooth, lightly tanned skin before he let it snap back into place.
"Is it that obvious?" he asked, voice cracking on the last syllable in a way that made him wince immediately after.
I grinned, leaning one shoulder casually against the wall to give him breathing room.
"Yeah, kind of. But in the best possible way. You've still got that fresh-out-of-orientation glow, like you haven't learned which elevators lie about what floor they're going to yet."
