He turned around and saw a huge black tentacle appearing where Rayne had been. But Rayne was completely gone.

Then Aiden saw the suction cups on the giant tentacle. No, they weren't suction cups. They were a bunch of human heads!
Countless heads, all opening their eyes at once. Dark eyes, staring right at him.
Aiden thought he heard a sound near his ears.
