Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 Head of Clan (2)

After a brief silence, Chinatsu unhesitatingly crossed her arms, expressing her displeasure while indicating, "You old folks better not try to force a sale."

Perhaps for members of other Jujutsu families, the position of Family Head, symbolizing the leader of the clan, was a supreme existence, one they would rack their brains to contend for.

For example, the Zen'in and Kamo Clan next door.

Each of them fought tooth and nail for the position of Family Head, like a series of small-scale royal battles.

In contrast, the two candidates for Family Head of the Gojo Family were quite peculiar; for them, the position of Family Head was not a particularly distant goal, one they could almost grasp if they were serious and put in effort.

Yet, despite this, the two candidates for Family Head of the Gojo Family showed no interest in the position, even displaying some disdain.

If only one divine child had been born, then the position of Family Head would have been directly passed down without dispute; even if the Gojo Family were left to its own devices until its demise after the succession, the position of Family Head would still only rest on the divine child's head, with no one else having the right to interfere.

But now, two divine children had appeared; although they were overjoyed at first, they didn't take it seriously when they heard the two had no interest in the Family Head position when they were young, merely smiling faintly.

They thought it was because the two were young, and when they grew older and experienced the importance of power and status in society, at least one of them would change their mind.

But the result... was the current situation.

"Chinatsu, the position of Family Head isn't a Binding Vow, so why are you so resistant? The Gojo Family's Family Head is more of a symbol; not all trivial family matters require the Family Head to handle personally. We elders aren't just decorations."

The Great Elder exhausted himself, trying to persuade Chinatsu by listing all the benefits of becoming Family Head, even managing to stir the lazy Chinatsu's heart a little.

Just as she was about to be convinced, Chinatsu suddenly shook her head vigorously. She lightly patted one side of her cheek with one hand, and with the other, she raised it towards the Great Elder, interrupting his offensive.

She was slightly panting, trying to make her somewhat uncooperative brain's CPU work.

Although the Great Elder made the position of Family Head sound so wonderful, it was, after all, only his side of the story. It wasn't that she didn't trust the Great Elder, but rather that this concerned her future and required considerable attention.

"Does it really have to be chosen between me and Gojo Satoru? Can't we choose someone from the Gojo Family members who has high prestige, high ability, and can command respect to replace us?"

"Miss, this is a family rule passed down by our ancestors, and with all due respect, aren't you and the young master also perfectly qualified in terms of high prestige, high ability, and ability to command respect?"

"..."

Listening to the Great Elder's impenetrable offensive, Chinatsu's defense appeared so thin and fragile.

According to the data presented by the Great Elder, out of the 11 elders in the Gojo Family, 7 recommended Chinatsu as the next Family Head.

The remaining 4 elders, although siding with Gojo Satoru, were not particularly against Chinatsu becoming Family Head; one could say they were infinitely close to neutral.

Among ordinary members outside of the elders, the proportion supporting Chinatsu showed an even more distinct advantage. When Chinatsu took the material (data) from the Great Elder, which even included statistical charts, her hands were subtly trembling.

After inwardly thinking, "Great Elder, you're too dedicated!" Chinatsu took the data sheet and focused her gaze on it.

When she realized how truly popular she was through this statistical analysis, a warmth welled up in her heart.

The only 'superficial' effort she made was being a "lady"; her interactions with everyone at home were genuine, not an act. Her popularity was within her expectations, but to be this popular... Gojo Satoru, if only you were more capable!

A strange feeling, like a mother disappointed in her son's lack of ambition, welled up in Chinatsu's heart towards Gojo Satoru.

After some internal struggle, Chinatsu put down the data sheet, looked up with a complex expression at the many elders before her, the answer "yes" almost escaping her lips.

"If it truly comes to a situation where there's no choice, I will take over," Chinatsu said with one hand on her hip, sighing slightly with a hint of helplessness.

Although this was a very vague answer, implying that the matter would be discussed later and she would only succeed if absolutely necessary, and before that, she would try every possible way to avoid taking the Family Head position.

Yet, even this level of vague answer was enough to make the many elders before her break into smiles, even opening champagne on the spot.

Note: opening champagne was not a metaphor; the Great Elder genuinely pulled a bottle of champagne from his robes. Although he had no corkscrew, he directly used Jujutsu to replace its function.

At this, Chinatsu had one hand on her hip and the other covering her forehead, a wry smile on her face.

Meanwhile, Gojo Satoru, having completed a solo Jujutsu mission, was leisurely making his way back towards Tokyo Jujutsu High with an arrogant gait.

In reality, the time he finished his Jujutsu mission was almost the same as Chinatsu's. His return at this moment was entirely due to the bulging plastic bag he was holding in one hand.

Chocolate, cake, pudding, ice cream, and Kikufuku... all packed full of sweets, especially the Kikufuku, which was Gojo Satoru's favorite sweet.

"It's a shame there's no edamame fresh cream flavor, because that's only sold at that one shop in Sendai. Well, the other flavors aren't bad anyway~"

Gojo Satoru walked along, chuckling. He didn't use instant movement, not because of the plastic bag in his hand, but because he had calculated his return time to Jujutsu High perfectly.

Shower, lie in bed, binge-watch shows, eat sweets.

Endless happiness... Hmm?

Gojo Satoru suddenly stopped, looked down suspiciously, and lifted one of his feet. A 10,000-yen bill was stuck to his shoe, having been stepped on.

Although 10,000 yen wasn't much to Gojo Satoru, the feeling of money earned through hard work was completely different from money found on the ground.

Gojo Satoru chuckled as he reached down to pick the bill off his shoe. He held the bill between two fingers with one hand, and the other hand held the bag full of sweets, thinking what a good day it was, and returned to Jujutsu High with a silly grin.
