The car drove into the affluent district of Old Shipyard Port and came to a stop in front of a detached villa.
Zayne could not help but sigh. The rich district really was different from the slums. He had just gotten out of the car to use a public restroom by the roadside and discovered that even the bathrooms here smelled pleasant.
No wonder everyone loved money. Being rich really was good.
The moment he entered the Ward family estate, Francis had already arranged everything for him. What greeted his eyes were two neat rows of young and attractive maids bowing toward Zayne.
"Good evening."
The maid outfits were already loose to begin with. When they bowed, the scenery on display became even more breathtaking.
Zayne stared, eyes wide. So this was the happiness of the rich. Damn it.
Before his reincarnation, he had been dirt poor. After reincarnating, he was still so poor that he could only live in the slums. If not for his immortal body, he probably would have starved to death long ago.
And while he had been starving, what had Francis been doing? Sitting in a villa surrounded by maids.
At that thought, Zayne glanced at Francis with a trace of resentment. For the first time, he felt genuinely envious. If he had reincarnated as a rich heir, why would he need to struggle so hard to grow stronger?
"Boss, like what you see? If any catch your eye, just tell me."
Francis said with a grin, his smile carrying an unmistakable implication.
"This one, this one, and that one."
Zayne said, pointing at three of the maids.
"Only three?"
Francis asked, surprised.
"No. I mean those three are out. Send everyone else to my room."
Zayne replied.
Francis fell silent.
"All right, I'm kidding."
Zayne said, shaking his head.
"Just get me a place to sleep."
"Got it."
Francis was a little surprised. Facing so many beauties, Zayne had actually held back.
Francis led Zayne deeper into the Ward family villa, where Zayne met Francis's father. He was a slightly balding middle aged man who looked ordinary enough, but the sharp glint that occasionally flashed in his eyes made it clear he was anything but.
Soon, Zayne had his own room within the Ward estate. Lying on a soft bed that was five meters by five meters, he drifted peacefully into sleep.
Since he was hiding in the Ward family now, surely Dano would not dare storm in here to grab him.
With that thought, Zayne fell asleep.
What he did not know was that at this very moment, under Dano's command, the underground forces of Old Shipyard Port were quietly mobilizing. Everyone knew that Dano was about to make a major move.
Early the next morning, the moment Zayne opened his eyes, a maid was already waiting by the bed. She gently tucked her bangs behind her ear, her demeanor soft and attentive.
"Sir, you're awake. Please wash your face."
A warm towel, still steaming, was placed before him. The sudden scene made Zayne slap himself. He thought he was still dreaming.
After living in the slums for so many years, he had never experienced waking up to a beautiful maid offering him a hot towel.
"Sir, are you all right? Did you have a nightmare?"
The maid asked, quickly grabbing his hand to stop him from hurting himself again.
Still half dazed, Zayne finished washing his face. Immediately, two more maids approached, ready to help him brush his teeth. Zayne hurriedly refused.
"No need. I'll do it myself."
He was still not used to being taken care of like this. By the time he finished brushing his teeth, Francis was already waiting at the door.
"Boss, how is it? Sleeping comfortably?"
"It's fine."
Zayne nodded.
"Great. Then let's eat first."
Francis led him to the dining room.
There were only the two of them, yet more than twenty dishes were laid out on the table.
Eight stunning young women were already waiting. The moment they saw Zayne and Francis, all eight bowed in unison.
"Good afternoon, gentlemen."
"Boss, have a seat."
Francis said.
He casually dropped into a chair, and a young woman immediately brought him a bowl of soup at the perfect temperature. After he took a sip, another girl placed a peeled and deveined shrimp by his mouth. He opened his lips slightly and bit off the most tender third of the shrimp. That was the end of it.
No sooner had he finished than another girl offered him cherries, exactly four, two red and two green.
After the cherries, two girls flanked him, one feeding him shrimp, the other offering crab meat already shelled and prepared.
Zayne stood frozen across the table, completely dumbfounded.
In his previous world, rich people were indulgent too, but never to this absurd degree. It seemed that in this world, with the existence of awakened classes, the status of ordinary people was extremely low, little different from servants.
"Boss, sit down. Don't like the food? Tell me what you want and I'll have it made right away."
Francis asked when he noticed Zayne still standing.
"No, the food is fine. I've just never seen anyone eat like this before. I'm curious."
Zayne replied honestly.
"Hahaha. You'll get used to it. I pay them, they serve me. That's only natural."
Francis laughed.
After they finished eating, Francis clapped his hands. Two rows of young women approached Zayne, each holding a tray with clothes on it. Shirts, trousers, ties, everything was there.
"What's this?"
Zayne asked, confused.
"Boss, let them help you change. Tonight we're attending an auction banquet. All the big names of Old Shipyard Port will be there."
Francis said.
That was also advice from his father. If he was going to acknowledge a boss, he needed to commit fully. Publicly recognizing Zayne as his boss in front of the city's elites meant that if anything happened in the future, Zayne would have no reason not to back him.
"A banquet? No, no."
Zayne shook his head.
He only wanted to hide in the Ward family estate until the college entrance trial began.
He turned and walked into the restroom to relieve himself, but the moment he entered, he froze.
There were four maids inside as well.
One held dry tissues, one held wet wipes, and two stood empty handed.
"Welcome, sir, to the restroom."
