Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 Labor

Orochimaru continued exchanging letters with the Third Hokage, but the Hokage still hesitated to put pressure on the Daimyō.

After Orochimaru's repeated persuasion, the Third finally gave in and sent people to pressure the Daimyō's court once again.

As the strongest military force in the Land of Fire, he should have done this long ago.

By this time, Shomao and Dai had already returned to Konoha.Their wives were about to give birth, and both babies were soon to arrive.

Konoha First National Hospital.

In a private ward, Na-snow lay on the bed in a hospital gown, her belly huge.

She held a freshly peeled apple—the one Shomao had just peeled for her.

A gentle twist along the line of the knife separated a slice easily.

Skillful knife work, they said, reflected a steady will.

The ghost mastiff lounged lazily in the corner, occasionally glancing at Na-snow.

"Tsunade, when will she give birth?"Shomao returned the fruit knife to the tray, anxiety written all over his face as he asked Tsunade, who was sitting on the sofa with Kawakaze.

He had seen everything with his own eyes and was genuinely worried.Na-snow had been hospitalized for days with no sign of progress.

The due date had passed.

"Brother, don't worry. Tsunade is here—you can relax."

At Kawakaze's request, Tsunade had prepared large quantities of blood bags and personally transported them.

This delivery would be absolutely safe.

"Shomao, going past the due date is normal."

"Take Na-snow out for a walk."

Tsunade smiled as she offered the suggestion.

"Alright."

Shomao smiled, stepped forward, and gently helped Na-snow up.

"My dear wife, let me take you for a walk."

"Look at you—where's your dignity as a father?"

Na-snow chuckled, held Shomao's hand, and sat up to put on her shoes.

"Haha, not yet, at least."

Shomao laughed and helped her out of the room.

"Just wait until Dai walks by with his son again—my brother will lose his mind."

Kawakaze smirked slightly as he spoke to Tsunade.

"You just want to watch the drama. I have work to do. Sit down."

Tsunade ignored the childish man and headed for the lab.

After all this time, she still hadn't stabilized her grandfather's cells.

She was starting to doubt her own ability.

"I'll come too!"

"No, you won't. My research hasn't made progress in ages."

"Can you at least be clear about how you feel?"

Tsunade rejected Kawakaze's offer without even turning around.

Kawakaze could only sit awkwardly in the ward.He hadn't been allowed into the lab for over a month. He was bored to death.

From the noise outside the ward, he knew Dai was bragging to Shomao again.

"Shomao! My sister-in-law hasn't given birth yet, right?"

"Look at my son—isn't he adorable?"

Dai had brought baby Guy with him.The two wards were connected now, and Shomao regretted allowing that arrangement.

"So cute, so cute. He looks exactly like you."

"I'm taking Na-snow for a walk in the garden."

Shomao had never seen a baby with eyebrows that thick.Might Guy was the first.

After humoring Dai with a few lines, he quickly led Na-snow away and touched her belly.

As if saying, My child, why won't you come out?

"Soon. It's right here inside me. I'm not in a hurry."

Na-snow looked at her husband, feeling amused.

"It's Dai, always walking around in front of me with his baby."

Shomao grinned sheepishly.

"You two are like children."

Na-snow sighed and continued walking beside him.

After a long while, she suddenly felt a sharp pain.

Warm fluid trickled down her thigh.

"Back—go back! It's happening!"

Na-snow's face twisted with pain, her voice tinged with panic.

"Right!"

Shomao reacted instantly, scooping her up and running toward the prepared delivery room.

"Kawakaze—Tsunade!"

His shout echoed through the entire hospital.

Kawakaze didn't care about anything at that moment—he used Flying Thunder God to warp straight into the lab.

"My sister-in-law is giving birth—hurry!"

He practically dragged Tsunade to the delivery room door.

"Wait outside. I'll handle everything."

With the help of the nurses, Tsunade calmly pushed Na-snow into the delivery room.

Then came the anxious waiting.

Shomao paced outside the room like an ordinary nervous husband.

"Brother, stop turning around. You're making me dizzy."

Kawakaze sat in the nearby rest area, trying to calm Shomao down.

"Why shouldn't I?"

Shomao ignored him and kept pacing.

"Have you decided on a name?"

Kawakaze chose a topic that would distract him and sat beside him.

"For a boy, Kakashi. For a girl, Yumiko."

"What do you think? Not bad, right?"

Shomao had spent a long time deciding on these names.

"Let's call the boy Fifty-Fifty for now."

Kawakaze's mischievous streak surfaced again.

"What does Fifty-Fifty mean? Sounds unlucky."

"In our Hatake family, we only win—we don't tie."

Shomao shut down the idea immediately.

At that moment, the ghost mastiff lay at the delivery room door, then suddenly remembered something important and bolted away.

"Ghost Mastiff! Where are you going?"

Shomao saw the black blur pass and shouted, but the dog ignored him.

"That damn dog… I never know what to do with it."

"Forget it. Leave it be."

Kawakaze wasn't worried about the dog being killed or eaten. If it didn't hurt anyone, he'd be grateful.

"My sister-in-law is giving birth!"

Dai appeared again, carrying baby Guy.

"Alright, let me hold him."

Kawakaze reached out, taking Guy from Dai.

With his thick black eyebrows and hair, he was unmistakably Dai's biological son.

Kawakaze pinched the baby's cheek and woke him from sleep.

Guy opened his bright black eyes, staring at his handsome uncle without crying.

"Too cute."

After satisfying himself, Kawakaze returned the baby. From now on, he considered Guy his nephew.

In the future, Guy would have to call him "Uncle."

Dai remembered clearly that his baby had been asleep, so Kawakaze must have woken him on purpose.

He couldn't argue with Kawakaze, so he had to soothe Guy himself.

"There, there—go to sleep…"

"Go."Kawakaze and Shomao said in unison—Dai's singing was unbearable.

"Why are you two so mean…"

Dai muttered sadly and walked off with his baby.

The two brothers fell silent. This was the most painful part of the wait.

Kawakaze couldn't help thinking about what state he would be in when Tsunade was about to give birth.

The delivery room was well soundproofed; they couldn't hear anything.

After a long time, the sound of the ghost mastiff running grew closer.

"Huh?"

Kawakaze saw the dog rushing toward him with a small white puppy in its mouth.

Looking closely, it resembled a snow mastiff.

The ghost mastiff dropped the puppy gently into Kawakaze's arms.

"Aiyo~"

It barked twice at Kawakaze as if calling his name.

"What does that mean?"

Kawakaze stroked the puppy, confused, and looked at Shomao.

"Mission accomplished."

Since it was his wife's dog, Shomao could understand simple messages.

Kawakaze finally remembered what the ghost mastiff had told him months ago.The dog had a surprisingly good memory.

"Good boy. Excellent."

Kawakaze used one free hand to scratch the ghost mastiff's chin.

"Aiyo, aiyo, aiyo~"

"What does that mean?"

"How would I know?"

Shomao didn't understand either.

Kawakaze looked deep into the mastiff's eyes. Its gaze shifted between him and the puppy.

The meaning was obvious:

"You took my child. From now on, you're not allowed to bully me."
