Khoa raised the torn red badge and called his volunteers back to center.
Only one looked at him. The boy was pinned beneath an overturned barrier and could not move.
Lao stepped over the badge without lowering his eyes. He pointed once toward the service gate and once toward the office above the court. Two Đoạn Lộ fighters broke toward the students trying to leave. The bottle thrower touched the key beneath his shirt and started for the stairs.
"Anyone who rests loses his place," Lao said.
Khoa still wanted the schools facing each other. Lao wanted both schools trapped inside the same lesson.
The first rule of Lao's Đoạn Lộ brotherhood was visible immediately.
No one was allowed to recover.
When a student created distance, one of Lao's fighters filled it. When someone lowered both hands and tried to leave, another body turned him back toward the court. They did not chase knockouts. They chased the moment exhaustion made a person choose between dignity and survival.
Lao had turned training cruelty into group tactics.
The six visible Đoạn Lộ fighters did not spread themselves evenly. Lao kept Thuận and Tín near center. Two members struck the west evacuation lane. One climbed toward the office and the transfer cache. The remaining three hit whichever student tried to stop fighting, forcing both schools to spend bodies protecting an exit that was not yet open.
At the service gate, one Đoạn Lộ fighter drove both heels into the bench Tân Thành had positioned as a shield. The bench slid. The narrow gap closed on a student's backpack strap and pulled him backward. Tân Thành tore the strap with both hands before the gate caught the boy's shoulder. A second fighter struck Tân Thành across his already injured side. He stayed upright only because two students, one from each school, shoved the bench back beneath him.
Khoa crawled behind the scorer's table while Đoạn Lộ fighters broke the room he had prepared.
His red badge had torn loose during Thuận's control. The phone beneath it displayed one message from the contractor channel:
`Preserve approved media. Do not identify faction relationships.`
No instruction asked whether he was injured. No instruction told him to help the Trưng Vương students whose school name he had used.
Khoa reached for the program-feed card.
The slot was empty. Tân Phong had removed it when he switched the displays.
Across the court, one of Khoa's former volunteers struggled beneath an overturned barrier. Khoa looked from the empty slot to the boy.
Tín reached the volunteer first.
That became Khoa's final measurement of the evening: while he tried to preserve the story, someone else preserved the person who had believed it.
Thuận stepped between two attacks and gave neither the answer it wanted.
He caught one wrist, redirected the shoulder into empty space and lowered the attacker to the floor without following him down. Tín blocked a kick aimed at Thuận's ribs. The impact pushed him sideways.
"West corridor," Thuận said.
"I heard you the first time."
"Then help Thành open it."
Tín looked toward Lao.
The desire to correct the earlier defeat passed across his face.
Then he saw two students pinned beneath an overturned bench.
He chose the corridor.
That choice cost Toàn Năng its clean duel and gave the room something more useful.
Tân Thành had reached the chained service gate. A steel cable ran through both handles and returned to an eye plate bolted into the corridor wall. The padlock remained beyond reach. He had already loosened the lower bolts by wrenching the door against the cable; the skin across both palms had opened before the metal did.
"Bench!"
Three students pushed one toward him. Tân Thành angled it beneath the crash bar, creating a protected pocket where hands could work without the crowd crushing them.
Tín arrived with Lao's kick burning through his supporting thigh. He drove one short kick into the door where the cable pulled toward the wall plate.
The bolts held.
A Đoạn Lộ fighter entered the pocket behind him. A Trưng Vương student raised the broken sign pole sideways and absorbed the first collision. A Lê Quý Đôn boy caught the other end. Neither had enough room to swing it. Together they made a barrier long enough for Tín to strike again.
The second kick tore one lower bolt from concrete and sent pain through Tín's damaged leg.
Tân Thành wrapped both hands around the crash bar and pulled while the two students drove the bench forward as a lever.
Tín kicked a third time.
The eye plate twisted sideways. The upper bolts did not release, but the steel cable gained enough slack for one door to move.
The gate opened the width of one shoulder.
It immediately tried to close. Tân Thành wedged his injured shoulder into the gap and made a sound he refused to repeat. The Trưng Vương student jammed the broken sign pole behind the hinge. The Lê Quý Đôn boy braced the bench against it.
"Smallest first," he ordered.
"Injured first," Tín corrected.
Tân Thành looked at the frightened students and nodded.
"Injured who can walk. Then smallest. Nobody pushes."
The line began to move one body at a time. Every person passing through reduced the hands available to hold the route. Every person who stayed had to choose whether the next stranger mattered more than leaving first.
Above them, Tân Phong reached the Union mobile assessment recorder he had mapped from the supplier diagram.
The feed switch he had used downstairs controlled only what the hall could see. It had exposed Khoa's cropped story, but it had not stopped the Union's recording. The recorder sat inside a locked cabinet beneath the scorer-control rack, running on its own mobile connection. The upload count had reached eighty-one percent.
He did not try to break encryption. He followed the cable path he already knew.
The recorder had its own battery. Cutting power to the scorer-control rack would darken part of the evacuation route without stopping the upload.
"Of course the recorder survives longer than the lights," he said.
He opened the side panel instead.
Two storage bays sat beside a pulsing transmission module. The removable bay was labeled `EVENT RECORD`. The fixed bay behind the retention bar was labeled `TRANSFER CACHE`. Tân Phong removed the module first.
The counter froze at eighty-three percent after the buffered data cleared.
The system began storing locally.
He pulled the event-record drive.
The second remained fixed behind a metal retention bar. Releasing it required a cabinet key or more time than the upload counter allowed.
As the connection failed, a diagnostic window replaced the upload counter. The fixed cache displayed the June transfer roster: school codes, clinic flags and simple judgments.
`NO RECOGNIZED SPONSOR.`
`PRIOR REFUSAL.`
`HIGH RECRUITMENT RISK.`
Several codes matched the transfer receipts Hạo Nhiên and Tín had fought to preserve.
Lao had not come to steal proof. He had come to steal a route to people the Union had already discarded.
The office door opened behind him.
The bottle thrower entered with blood on his teeth.
A small cabinet key rested between his fingers.
"Lao wants the rejected list."
"He can apply in writing."
The boy rushed him.
Tân Phong threw the loose office chair sideways, not at the boy but into the narrow route between desk and cabinet. The attacker climbed over it. Tân Phong pulled the rolling chair back by its rest, trapped one shin and drove the stolen transmission module into the alarm switch.
The building alarm began to scream.
The boy flinched.
Half a second.
Tân Phong struck the hand reaching for the drive, passed under the arm and ran for the door.
The second drive remained locked in the cabinet.
He had chosen the evacuation alarm and his own exit over fighting for the roster.
On the court, the alarm stripped the fight of rhythm.
Students covered their ears. Emergency lights began flashing. The service-gate line moved faster.
Lao attacked inside the confusion.
His low kick struck Thuận's calf. The next hand drove toward the body. Thuận received it and turned his waist into the opening of Hoàn Hoa.
Lao collapsed his own posture before the circle closed. Hoàn Hoa could return force. It could not return a center the attacker had already destroyed.
He dropped to one knee, rolled across Thuận's lead foot and rose inside the guard with an elbow.
Thuận leaned away. The elbow opened skin beneath his cheekbone instead of breaking the orbital ridge.
Lao caught his shirt and pulled him toward the scorer's table.
"Still waiting for balance?"
Thuận framed against the collarbone.
"Still confusing damage with freedom?"
Lao's knee drove toward the ribs. Thuận turned enough to take it along the side. Pain flashed into his back.
Lao did not admire the result. He attacked the breath the pain interrupted.
Palm below sternum.
Shoulder against jaw.
Heel pinning the front foot.
Each strike stole a different function.
Movement.
Breath.
Decision.
The old Lao had overwhelmed people until they accepted his conclusion. This Lao had learned to make the body vote first.
Thuận gave ground toward the west route.
Lao smiled.
"You always retreat toward someone weaker."
He burst forward.
Nghịch Nhịp compressed his damaged frame into one violent step. For a moment, pain disappeared from his left side. His fist crossed the emergency light and arrived before its shadow.
Thuận did not redirect it.
He jammed the shoulder with both forearms and let the impact drive him backward.
His heel struck the base of the overturned bench.
The bench shifted, widening the protected lane beside the service gate.
Three more students escaped.
Lao understood.
His face changed.
"Fight me."
"I am."
"No. You are using me to move furniture."
Thuận's ribs hurt when he breathed.
"You wanted witnesses. Watch them leave."
Lao struck harder.
Thuận stopped trying to return the force beautifully. He framed. Jammed. Turned. Gave small ground where it opened the route and none where Lao could reach the line behind him.
Lục Hoa did not make him untouchable.
It made every bruise answer a boundary.
Tân Thành called from the gate. "Last group!"
Lao heard.
He changed targets.
That was the argument he had always made. Protection created predictable weakness.
He crossed toward Tân Thành.
Thuận caught his sleeve and found Lao already abandoning it. Fabric tore. Lao spun through the lost cloth and kicked a loose plastic court marker toward the gate. It skidded beneath the feet of the final students.
Tín stepped onto it deliberately.
His foot slipped.
He converted the fall into a low sweep that took one Đoạn Lộ fighter off his feet.
Tân Thành dragged both students through the gap.
"Clear!"
The word changed Thuận's posture.
For the first time, Lao saw him with no one directly behind him.
Thuận advanced.
Root beneath the hips.
Open hand receiving Lao's wrist.
Second hand controlling the elbow.
Listening found the damaged leg hidden beneath Lao's broken rhythm. Return waited until the service lane behind Thuận was empty.
No chase for a face. No punishment disguised as conclusion.
Lao broke his center again, but this time there was no crowd behind Thuận forcing a careful retreat. Thuận followed the collapse instead of trying to restore it. He stepped beside Lao's falling line, trapped the damaged leg and turned him onto the court.
Lao hit the floor.
Thuận kept the wrist.
Nghịch Nhịp fired once more.
The burst moved Lao's shoulder faster than the joint wanted. He tore free at the cost of something inside it. The sound was small. Lao's face went white.
He still smiled.
"There you are."
"No," Thuận said. "There they go."
Police lights reached the high windows.
Lao looked toward the office.
The bottle thrower appeared on the upper walkway holding the fixed transfer-cache drive.
Not the complete registry.
The cached June transfer roster.
Lao had never entered the building only for Thuận.
He whistled once.
The remaining Đoạn Lộ fighters broke in different directions. Two went through the bleachers. One dropped a motorized court divider, lowering heavy vinyl mesh between the main floor and the upper-stair route. Another opened a maintenance door Tân Phong had not known existed.
Thuận could pursue Lao.
Behind the divider, someone cried out beneath the scorer's table.
He turned toward the voice.
When the motorized divider lifted again, Lao was gone.
The students were not.
Thuận knelt beside the trapped boy and raised the broken table edge with Tân Thành.
Tân Phong reached them with one storage drive under his shirt.
Tín stood at the open gate directing both schools toward police and medical staff in one line.
No badges first.
Injured first.
The hall alarm continued screaming after there was no fight left to interrupt.
