Hạo Nhiên cast the coins alone.
He entered the quiet Lục Hoa room without Thuận's group and sat before the unnamed master. Tea waited between them. Six old coins rested in Hạo Nhiên's palm.
The corridor report lay beside the tea. Hồng Y's camera angle began after the master caught Hạo Nhiên's wrist. Toàn Năng's file began when Tín crossed the fire door. Both institutions had preserved the moment that made intervention look voluntary.
"The branch review asks whether you brought Lục Hoa into a contractor dispute," the master said.
"I carried recognized evidence. The dispute entered my route."
"That is a defense. It is not innocence."
"I am not asking to be innocent. I am asking whether the receipt remains valid."
The master touched the stamped arrival time.
"It does."
Hạo Nhiên accepted the cost without mistaking it for defeat. Hồng Y had separated his review from Tín's conduct hearing, but the same receipt now existed in both institutional records. Neither organization could erase it without contradicting the other.
"You already know what you want them to say," the master observed.
"That is why I need them."
"Then you need refusal, not divination."
Hạo Nhiên cast anyway.
The pattern suggested obstruction above movement, a damaged return and a center preserved by accepting separation. It did not predict death. Kinh Dịch was not a machine for spoilers. It described pressure and relation. People supplied consequence.
"Bad ending?" Hạo Nhiên asked.
"For which desire?"
"Keeping the boys together."
"Then yes."
The answer hurt despite being expected.
Hạo Nhiên asked about the pill rumor. "Are the enhancement methods Huyền Tinh Môn pursued truly reproducible?"
"After the Huyền Tinh records surfaced, every faction received enough evidence to believe enhancement is real and not enough to recreate it safely. That is more dangerous than certainty."
"The Union says registration prevents another network from doing the same."
"The Union also wants the only map of bodies capable of surviving the method. Law and ambition can inhabit one sentence."
Hạo Nhiên placed the June transfer notice beside the coins.
"Thuận will intervene."
"Yes."
"Tân Thành may break the door. Tân Phong may disappear with the evidence."
"Yes."
"Then Lục Hoa should guide them."
The master's hand rested beside the tea. "Guide is not command. Lục Hoa preserves balance by refusing to become every conflict's ruling hand. If we march against the Union on a stolen route, we declare one branch's grief the entire martial school's law."
"And if neutrality protects the stronger institution?"
"Then neutrality has become weight on one side."
For the first time, the master sounded tired rather than certain.
He allowed Hạo Nhiên to submit evidence and teach the trio principles necessary to survive. He did not authorize Lục Hoa fighters to join the operation.
"Why not come yourself?" Hạo Nhiên asked.
"Because the Union wants sect conflict. A recognized Lục Hoa guide at the warehouse turns student transfer abuse into faction war. The students disappear beneath our banners."
Hạo Nhiên understood the strategy and hated its human cost.
"Thuận will think I left again."
"Then tell him before the door closes."
At the old floor, Hạo Nhiên did.
Tân Thành reacted first. "You know where they are moving people and you stay here?"
"I submit evidence, prepare witnesses and keep Lục Hoa from giving the Union a war it can use to erase the students. I will not enter the warehouse."
"Convenient balance."
"Painfully."
Thuận looked at the six coins Hạo Nhiên had brought.
"What did they say?"
"That trying to preserve the group as one object produces the worst outcome."
Tân Phong exhaled.
Tân Thành looked away.
Thuận asked, "And the transfer?"
"Obstruction. Damaged return. A center preserved through separation. That is pressure, not destiny."
He gave each boy one coin.
"Not luck. A reminder that no reading replaces your decision."
Three coins remained on the table.
For the absent, the rejected and the choices nobody could make cleanly.
Hạo Nhiên stayed after the audience and asked the master one final question.
"Why preserve balance if every faction uses the pause to seek dominance?"
The master poured out cold tea and began again with hot water. "Because domination is not prevented by winning first. Lục Hoa seeks the right to judge force. That ambition can become domination wearing patience. Our culture exists to make the hand hesitate before calling itself righteous."
"The Union hesitates through hearings while students disappear."
"Then its hesitation is performance."
"And ours?"
The master handed Hạo Nhiên the empty cup. "That is why you return to the field and not to certainty."
He gave no secret technique, army or prophecy. He gave Hạo Nhiên permission to testify that the registry methods violated balance because they manufactured the reactions they judged.
Formal words. Limited power.
Hạo Nhiên signed the testimony knowing Lục Hoa elders might discipline him for placing branch interpretation into a Union dispute.
Before leaving, he repaired a loose hinge on the outer gate. The master watched.
"War tomorrow and you repair that?"
"Someone still uses the gate tonight."
That was Lục Hoa culture when speeches ended.
At the old floor, Thuận read the testimony and understood what Hạo Nhiên risked. Not death. Belonging. Rank. The right to guide them.
"You could lose your place," Thuận said.
"Yes."
"Because of us."
"No. Because I chose where neutrality became weight. Do not steal that choice by turning it into your guilt."
Thuận folded the testimony carefully.
Hạo Nhiên had finally arrived before the door without entering the fight for them.
He spent the night teaching no advanced technique. Instead, he repeated root, listening and return until Tân Thành complained they had learned all three years earlier.
"Under easier emotions," Hạo Nhiên said.
He had Thuận receive force while hearing false reports shouted from different corners. He made Tân Phong choose an exit while someone accused him of abandonment. He made Tân Thành hold a door while a friend called from the opposite side.
The drills did not simulate every event. They exposed which emotion could steal each body.
Thuận over-commanded when guilt entered.
Tân Phong vanished when accusation fixed him in place.
Tân Thành abandoned boundaries when helplessness sounded like a person.
"Khí amplifies structure," Hạo Nhiên reminded them. "It also amplifies the mistake already living inside the structure."
At dawn, he poured tea for the person leaving last.
Tân Phong remained after the brothers and Thuận had descended. He took the cup.
"If I never join Lục Hoa, do these habits still belong to me?"
"What you practiced belongs to your body. What you claim in Lục Hoa's name does not."
"Good."
Hạo Nhiên watched him drink. "Leaving honestly is also a form of balance."
Tân Phong looked at the chipped blue cup. "That sounds almost like permission."
"It is not mine to give."
"Better answer."
He finished the tea, washed the cup and placed it facing outward beside the others. Small rules remained useful even when membership did not.
