Rain's POV:
The rabbit hops out of his arms and jumps into mine.
It launches itself from the crook of Dane's elbow straight into my chest like it has already chosen me.
Its tiny body is warm, trembling slightly, its heart beating so fast I can feel the flutter of it through my palms.
I gasp softly as it settles against me, its small paws pressing into the thin cotton of my top.
Its fur is so soft and shiny, it almost looks otherworldly.
Not gray. Not white.
But something in between ,like moonlight brushed over silk.
The setting sunlight coming through the door catches in its coat and turns it silver, every strand illuminated as if it's carrying light inside it.
When I run my fingers along its back, the fur parts like liquid, smooth and impossibly clean, and then settles back into place.
"Dane this is so cute," I coo.
My voice sounds lighter than I feel.
Almost childlike.
