Rain's POV:
Pain shoots through my knee as my eyes flutter open.
It comes first , sharp and blinding , before the rest of the world even finds its shape. A bolt of heat tears through my leg, racing up my spine, stealing my breath before I can make a sound. My body jerks instinctively, and the pain answers with interest, tightening, blooming, reminding me exactly where I am.
The room is pitch dark.
For a second, I don't know if I'm awake or still trapped somewhere in between. My chest feels heavy, like something solid is pressing down on it.
My limbs won't respond the way I want them to. I try to move my hands, to lift them, but it feels like my arms are wrapped in cement, sluggish and distant.
My eyes burn as I try to open them fully.
I blink once. Twice.
The darkness fractures slowly, reluctantly. My hands move instinctively, reaching out, searching for something familiar, anything ,but I hit nothing but air. Panic flares hot in my throat.
