Dane's POV:
"Danny, baby, there's only been you," she sobs into my mouth, her words dissolving against my lips. "Only you. No one else. No five. No six. Just you, baby."
Her tears smear against my lips and I don't react right away.
I'm too busy trying to understand what she just said.
My body moves before I fully decide to, easing back like I need space to think.
I look at her, then away, then back again, waiting for the meaning to settle.
It doesn't.
"What do you mean?" My voice comes out thin, scraped raw.
"What are you talking about right now?"
Her hand comes up and I move back without thinking, the gap between us suddenly necessary.
"You said six," I say, staring at her like I'm trying to read another language.
"You literally said there were six men. I heard you. I remember. What the fuck are you doing, Rain? "
