Tatsu sat on the floor, hugging his knees, staring at the fridge like it was about to file a noise complaint. The hum coming from inside was not comforting. It was the kind of hum that made him rethink every life choice he had made since birth.
Fridge Sama remained perfectly calm on the couch. He looked like a man who had woken from a nap and decided to pretend he was ancient royalty.
"Tatsu," Fridge Sama said, voice steady, "you must understand something important."
"Is it that I should run for my life," Tatsu asked.
"No," Fridge Sama said. "You would only trip."
Tatsu glared. "Why do you assume that."
"I saw your balance earlier," Fridge Sama replied. "It was a cry for help."
Before Tatsu could argue, the fridge emitted another heavy thud.More mist leaked out from the edges, swirling across the floor like pale fog.
Tatsu slapped his palm on the ground."No. Absolutely not. I am not dealing with haunted appliances. I did not sign up for this. I wanted cold food, not a supernatural roommate."
Fridge Sama tilted his head."You have me now."
"That is not comforting."
Fridge Sama ignored him and leaned forward."I must ask you something."
Tatsu braced himself. "What."
"Are you emotionally stable."
"No."
Fridge Sama nodded. "Good. Stability breaks easily."
Tatsu stared at him. "That sounded like advice from a villain."
"I am not a villain," Fridge Sama said. "I am simply cold."
"You are unnerving."
The fridge rattled again, louder than before. This time it made the lamp wobble on the table.
Tatsu jumped up. "This is how horror stories start. First the fridge shakes, then something crawls out, then the protagonist dies, and the audience complains he lacked common sense."
Fridge Sama spoke in a low calm voice."Nothing will crawl out. Not yet."
"That is not reassuring."
"It was not meant to reassure you."
Tatsu dragged his hands down his face. "Great. Perfect. I live with a man who talks like a riddle and a fridge that wants revenge."
Fridge Sama stood slowly and placed one hand on the cold surface of the fridge. The hum softened, almost like it was responding to him.
Tatsu blinked."You can calm it."
"Of course," Fridge Sama said. "It listens to me."
"What even are you."
Fridge Sama turned to look at him.His eyes were quiet, cold, and unreadable, a complete contrast to his earlier dramatic self.
"I will tell you what you need to know," he said, "when you need to know it."
Tatsu felt a chill run through him.Not cold, but awareness.Like standing next to a secret with sharp edges.
Before he could respond, Fridge Sama stepped back and inspected him with slow scrutiny.
"You look weak," he said.
"I am weak," Tatsu replied.
Fridge Sama nodded."You will need to improve your stamina. Carrying me earlier was disgracefully slow."
Tatsu's voice cracked. "You weighed a thousand kilograms."
"That is not an excuse."
"Yes it is."
"No."
Tatsu covered his face. "I hate this."
Fridge Sama walked past him with silent steps and sat back on the couch."You may hate this," he said, "but you will not leave."
Tatsu blinked. "Why not."
"Because you opened the door," Fridge Sama said. His tone was soft.Almost serious.Almost dangerous.
"And once you open a door," he continued, "you must see what is inside."
The fridge behind them hummed again. This time, the sound was almost like a voice.
A quiet one.
Calling.
