A trap!
It was all a trap!
She wasn't wearing anything at all, yet the question asked about the color of her panties. This was clearly a scheme to kill people.
Natsuki seriously gazed at the vengeful spirit proctor before him, his eyes falling on her perky behind wrapped in a pencil skirt, mentally criticizing her harshly.
Even more outrageous—you're a female teacher going commando at school. Isn't that a bit too much?
Haven't you considered the social death if someone found out?
Wait.
She was already a vengeful spirit after death. She probably wasn't afraid of social death anymore.
Then no problem.
"Poke poke—"
Chika looked over with wide eyes, writing on her desk with her finger: "Amamiya-kun, you shouldn't keep staring at the female teacher's body. That's really impolite."
What's there to be polite about with a vengeful spirit? If it weren't for being completely outmatched in combat power, those unlucky players in this exam room would have already teamed up to strip the proctor's skirt off!
"Don't slander me." Natsuki's expression was unchanged. "I was just figuring out the answer."
"Huh..." Chika blinked, then suddenly covered her chest with both arms. "Does Amamiya-kun have the superpower to see through people's clothes?"
Stop covering up. If I really could see through clothes, I'd have already counted how many moles are on your body!
"Kaguya-chan, quick, cover yourself up."
Shinomiya-san absolutely doesn't need to.
Flat as a board. Plain as a plateau. The vast Guanzhong Plain. Absolutely no need to cover anything.
Natsuki secretly told Chika the correct answer to the question, then turned his gaze to the bloodstained test paper. A new question quietly appeared.
[Hayato Aoki, who is in the same exam room as you—what was his manner of death?]
Great.
Another question from hell.
Even if Kaguya's test scores made her first in the school, even if she were first in the nation, she still couldn't answer this.
Natsuki was starting to figure out the rules of the death exam game.
Sitting quietly and doing the test was a dead end.
You had to cause trouble.
Everyone had to cross the sea by showing their own special talents—finding opportunities to peek under the proctor's skirt, or identifying which spirit in the exam room was Hayato Aoki, secretly observing them to analyze their cause of death... In short, you had to cheat using all sorts of methods.
If caught cheating, you faced the death penalty.
But Natsuki had found a special technique—the deviant path of skipping class.
As the proctor, it would be normal for her to know how a student died, right?
A moment later.
The proctor finished her round and returned to Natsuki's side.
"Teacher, you dropped your money again."
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Natsuki calmly pointed at the coin on his desk.
Whether human or vengeful spirit, once you've done something once, you want to do it again.
This time the proctor didn't even hesitate. She silently picked up the coin from the test paper, then tapped her finger on the correct answer.
Correct.
Natsuki was quite satisfied.
Proctor-sensei, eternal goddess!
This scene was naturally witnessed by the other human players in the classroom. Each had their own thoughts.
"What's that boss doing?"
"I smell the scent of a backroom deal."
"As expected of a big shot—he's already found the hidden rules!"
"..."
Plop.
A note suddenly landed on Natsuki's desk.
"Hm?"
Natsuki raised an eyebrow slightly and glanced out of the corner of his eye at a male student sitting to his right and behind.
This was an unlucky player. When he saw Natsuki looking over, he quickly pressed his palms together, his face full of pleading.
Natsuki considered for two seconds, then opened the note.
"Boss, please carry me!"
Sorry, not a boss—just an ordinary player who just cleared the tutorial.
Having worked so hard to get the correct answers, giving them away so easily felt really annoying.
But as fellow human players, even setting aside mutual protection, just watching someone die like this... his conscience wouldn't allow it...
Plop.
Another small note flew over, followed by something black... cat ear hair accessories?
"Boss, I know the rules. This is the last item I have!"
Natsuki hesitated briefly, then reached out to touch the cat ears.
A game panel suddenly appeared before his eyes.
[Item: Cat Ear Hair Accessory]
[Origin: Mystery Box Draw]
[Special Effect: After wearing the cat ear accessory, you are no longer an ordinary mortal. In the eyes of vengeful spirits, you will transform into a cat]
[Warning: This item has compatibility requirements. Current compatibility: 40%. The higher the compatibility, the harder it is for the disguise to be seen through]
[Note: Transform into a cat girl now!]
"So it's an item from the mystery box."
Natsuki toyed with it briefly and quickly guessed what the so-called "rules" were.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
If you want to ride someone else's coattails, you either demonstrate your own value or show sufficient sincerity.
The cat ears before him were clearly the latter.
Trading a rather useless item for test answers—that was the deal.
Natsuki pondered for two seconds, then gave a small nod of agreement.
Even without the item, he would have helped in the end.
This wasn't a kill-or-be-killed exam. Ignoring someone's cry for help and watching a fellow human player die—he really couldn't get past his conscience.
Being able to get a mystery box item now was an unexpected bonus.
Seeing Natsuki nod, the human player was overjoyed, looking over expectantly.
Natsuki silently lifted his test paper.
"Thank you, boss!"
Trading a useless item for help—total profit!
Besides human players, spirit students made up the real majority in the classroom.
A spirit student sitting behind Natsuki seemed to have the same idea of copying answers, but his approach was much cruder. He simply reached out with his blood-soaked right hand and grabbed at Natsuki.
Hey, that's too much.
Others are just copying. You're straight-up robbing!
A chilling aura swept over him. Natsuki felt his body nearly freezing up. He took a deep breath and decisively called out:
"Teacher, someone's stealing my test!"
The patrolling proctor whipped her head around.
The spirit boy's body immediately stiffened. His voice was raspy. "They're all cheating..."
Before he could finish, the bloodstained triangular ruler had already swung down.
The classroom quickly fell silent.
I earned my right to bribe the proctor through my own efforts. You didn't pay a cent and thought you could manipulate the teacher? You deserved to crash and burn.
A moment later.
"Exam over."
The eerie, raspy voice came from the proctor's mouth. The female teacher stood at the podium, her eyes crimson. "Students who passed may now leave the classroom. Those who failed, please stay for the next makeup exam."
Under the cold gazes of the spirit students, Natsuki and the others stood and walked out of the exam room.
"We made it out." Chika patted her chest. "I thought with Kaguya-chan being so smart, she'd definitely pass the exam easily. But those questions weren't meant for humans at all."
This was a vengeful spirit school to begin with. It would be weird if humans could answer those questions!
"Amamiya-kun, is that cat ear accessory special?"
Chika asked curiously.
"Take a look."
Natsuki handed over the cat ears.
Chika took them curiously, then quickly let out a soft cry. "Whoa, it's actually an item from the mystery box... Compatibility is 70%. Amamiya-kun, what's yours?"
"Forty percent." Natsuki answered.
"Huh, that's low." Chika handed the cat ears to Kaguya, her voice bright. "Kaguya-chan, check your compatibility."
Kaguya's expression remained cool and composed, as if she felt no fear at all. After two seconds of silence, she said:
"Ninety-five percent."
"So high!"
"A pointless item." Kaguya returned the cat ears, her tone calm. "We've met the minimum victory requirements. We can go back now..."
Before she finished speaking, an eerie, raspy announcement suddenly echoed through the school.
[Announcement: Players "Evil of This World," "Earth's Cancer," and "Weak and Helpless Princess Kaguya" have been reported by multiple students. Wanted mode is now active]
