└[LOL streamer how long are you gonna keep playing that deadbeat game?]

"How long, you ask?"

└[Yeah that game sucks! It's been 3 years now and you still keep playing that game.]

└[It's time to move on dude, that game is no longer popular.]

└[Its charm has long died, you should listen to us...!]

"No way, I'm not gonna quit this game until I see the end!"

This was me Kim Taesung, a 24 year old orphan with nothing in life except streaming.

All I knew about was streaming and nothing else.

What do I even contribute to society?

Anyways, I continued playing the game despite my viewers discouraging me.

This game had a special place to me, it's unrealistic difficulty was in a way relatable to me in real life.

The game "Hero's Fate" is like its name as suggested, you become a hero that defeats the demon king. In a way it's a cliche plot.

Its world is set on science fantasy, combining magic and science.

And it's also a 2.5D open world sandbox, giving you the freedom to explore the world around you.

The trope is rarely seen in any other games which made me like it more.

But what makes it different is you're forced to fight the aftermath. Yes, the aftermath.

It's a post apocalyptic world where humanity is akin to being livestocks to demons.

Your ultimate goal is to reclaim the world as a hero. To save humanity and rise back as the top species.

It's not like any other games where you start off easier and the difficulty gradually gets harder.

Your starting point is based on luck, but luck is an unreliable measure to know.

You either die off as soon as you start or become lucky that you don't die.

That's how my first playthrough went, but after countless trials, I finally managed to reached the middle game.

Now here I am gazing into my computer, as adrenaline coursed throughout my body.

I couldn't wait anymore.

「Hero, it's finally time to start the battle…」

「Please give us the command when you're ready, Hero」

Countless soldiers lined up at the battlefield, their banners rising up symbolizing the hope of humanity.

The soldiers positioned their magic guns, artillery and tanks to prepare for the upcoming battle.

While on the other side stood the numerous large demons and demonoids alike.

But they also had their own demonic technology, which made them quite formidable.

My character the "Hero" stood on the center of the battlefield, it's crest on it's sword blade glowed slightly yellow.

It was time for the land reclamation, to make the planet ours once again.

Behind my character, four figures stand side by side, their eyes focused on the battlefield.

They were also the ones who asked for my order. One of them was Alexia, the Omniscient Mage.

She was in charge of the spells thrown in the battlefield.

"Hahaha, despite my 3 years of effort, I only managed to reach the middle game?"

I laughed bitterly, as if easing my self.

But it's too late to make a change now, it's now or never.

I fired up myself anticipating the enemies next move.

I glanced up at my monitor.

「Start the war Y / N」

This option would start the beginning of the largest war inside the game.

└[Wow streamer, I haven't seen this scene of the game.]

Of course you never did, I was one of the people who stayed to this game when it died down.

I glanced at the monitor one more time.

I clicked "Yes".

Before everyone inside the game moved to fight up, the hero announced his speech.

「Everyone! It's all thanks to you that we have come this far!」

「Without you, all of this wouldn't be possible. The things that I do might have never come this far.」

「All the efforts we all did wouldn't be possible without your help everyone.」

「From the pain we had suffered from them…! From the way they treated us…! From thinking we were hopeless beings...!」

「All of that will serve as a stark reminder for the things they've done…!」

「Now let us begin a new chapter for humanity's fate! 」

「Where the things they've all did to us. Will be given twice… No… Will be given countless times back to them!」

「All of this…! All of that…! All of them…! Ends as of today...!!!」

「As I say this, everyone charge...!!!」

The hero charged first, his huge sword thrusting forward.

The sword glowed brightly unleashing a huge mana that swept up the demons.

The soldiers also followed, advancing slowly in the frontline with the magic artillery and tanks.

Behind the hero's back were his allies, charging up in front of the battlefield.

Alexia stood by behind the frontlines accompanied by various robed mages lined up in a formation.

Her spells covered the entire line of the frontlines, spraying support buffs for the magic technology the soldiers used.

While the mages fired up together a simulatenous attack of offensive spells together.

On the left side of the battle, a man who was huge and tall as a boulder dashed relentlessly towards the demons.

This man was none other than the Fist King Asura. His attacks swung anywhere like a beast.

On the right side of the battle, a man who was fast and swift like a wind, his attacks seemed to come out of nowhere.

This man was the epitome of all assasins, he was the Nightshade Hades.

And the last of all, was the healer behind and far from the frontline.

Whose healing capabalities could name her the Saintess of Miracles from the people.

She was the Blind Saintess Olivia, a woman that tended to the wounded soldiers during the battle.

Having these 4 people really changed how I played the game, if it weren't for them, I could have never even come across to this point.

«Hero…»

"Did I hear something?"

I thought for a moment, I had heard something.

"Maybe it's just my thoughts."

Ignoring it, I tended to my monitor, my mouse slid into everywhere as I spammed the abilities of the hero.

Just like this, I might actually win this time!

My hero slowly advanced his pace, clearing out the way for the soldiers.

Click. Click. Click.

«Save us…»

"…"

Is it just me?

I honestly don't know.

My hero's pace suddenly came to a stop.

His allies stopped too.

"What the hell? Why aren't you guys moving?"

Click. Click.

I repeatedly clicked many times.

Is the game lagging? Everything became still. As if everyone in there froze.

I leaned my head forward.

[Error!]

[Please report this bug at…]

The screen displayed error messages at the center.

Really? At this time?

"Let's end the stream here guys."

└[Nooo.]

└[:Sob :Sob :Sob]

I closed the stream, since there wasn't any content to show.

Buzz!

A notification rang out. I swiped back to the game to see the message.

[Warning!]

The screen displayed a red warning alert at the top.

The sky turned dark then cracks appeared simultaneously.

The clouds swirled downwards as a figure slowly descended.

[∈%⊙▩∈※ Lv. ??? has appeared!]

The screen displayed its name.

"A new boss?"

The enemy was concealed in a mosaic form, leaving only vague outlines.

[All allies stats have decreased by 70%]

"Really? This is absurd, how am I supposed to win?"

The mosaic figure looked around briefly for a moment before glancing at the hero.

His right hand extended forward and pointed towards the hero.

BOOM!

Tremendous energy erupted from his right hand forming a ray of dark light.

It aimed it at the hero's side and in less than a millisecond.

The soldiers, the mages, the four generals and my hero were anhilated in one move.

Destruction filled the landscape. The land was razed with fire and dust.

"What's this?"

This is ridiculous. I lost? To this guy? Is this the bug they were talking about?

The mosaic figure, as if it had seen me. Gazed at me, his red eyes pierced through the screen.

Its blurred mouth seemed to whisper something.

[₣ØɄ₦Đ ɎØɄ.]

"Huh…?"

A dazzling light quickly wrapped around my monitor.

BOOM!

Out of nowhere, my monitor blew.

A fire erupted engulfing my body. The intense outburst of blazing air grazed my skin.

Debris flung everywhere.

Smoke and dust filled the room.

"What the hell!?"

"Ugh...!"

I screamed so loud, my voice echoed inside the apartment.

The intense heat penetrated my body that blood oozed out everywhere.

The pain traveled back and forth.

The room felt suffocating.

Knock… Knock… Knock…

Even my apartment neighbors came knocking. How ironic, how would they see me if I was in this condition?

"Oppa? Are you okay? I heard you screaming in pain."

"Oppa?"

BANG!

A loud bang came behind me and I quickly turned around to see a door opened.

"Oppa?"

"Oppa…!? Ahh!"

"119! Yes... Oppa here is bleeding! We need help!"

"The location is…"

A woman came to me, her eyes look terrified.

She's grabbing my shoulders, as if pulling me out.

What is this feeling…?

As if everything suddenly just went wrong.

My eyelids felt heavy.

"Is…"

"This…"

"…Death?"

I closed my eyes.

Then, my consciousness faded away.
