Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: A Forced Melon Isn't Sweet, But It's Enough to Quench Thirst.

Only the comrades who were just in the secret room knew about Atsui's arrival, the comrades on duty outside were still unaware.

They wouldn't be on guard when they saw Kiyoshi.

This was Samatodo's instruction.

But now, her brother, who was supposed to be quietly sent to the Ninja Academy, was discovered by Kiyoshi.

"... Fine. Come with me."

Samui placed the rag on the table and walked toward the second floor.

Kiyoshi immediately followed.

"Sister?"

Atsui, who was about Kiyoshi's age, scratched his head.

Why was she going upstairs?

Atsui hadn't seen the face of the child in front of his sister, assuming he was just a customer.

He dismissed the matter, picked up the rag Samui had left, stood on his tiptoes, and began wiping the grease and dirt off the tables.

***

When Samui pushed open the door to the second floor, her fingers trembled slightly, but she quickly masked her emotions, stepping aside to let Kiyoshi enter first.

There was a small, narrow room on the second floor—the staff break area, simple and cramped, with a low table and a few floor cushions placed in the corner by the window.

The light from outside spilled in, adding a hint of hazy warmth to the room.

Yet, this warm color did nothing to dispel the coldness radiating from Samui.

Kiyoshi sat casually on a cushion, his long fingers lightly tapping the tabletop, his gaze fixed on Samui:

"Since we're already up here, let's not waste time. Give me a swordsmanship technique that suits me, one that looks unpretentious. If it's not suitable, I'll be back next time."

Kiyoshi made a bold demand to Samui.

If he could extract benefits, he naturally had to extract every last drop.

There was no shortage of high-power Lightning Release ninjutsu.

However, they all required a lot of chakra, and it was inappropriate to display these techniques externally.

Others would immediately wonder where Kiyoshi learned the ninjutsu.

The best solution was swordsmanship.

Using inconspicuous moves would make them hard to distinguish from basic swordsmanship.

"Alright." Samui nodded.

The ninjutsu given to Kiyoshi would definitely be covered by public funds.

She asked Kiyoshi to wait there for a moment and soon came back up with a scroll.

Besides Lightning Release, the Hidden Cloud Village was also proficient in swordsmanship.

In the ninja world, swords and blades are often used interchangeably.

Killer B's [Lariat Swarm of Blades] could simultaneously control seven thin blades, nearly breaking Sasuke's defense and forcing him to use his Mangekyō.

Kiyoshi took the scroll, but his gaze did not immediately fall on it, instead, he swept directly to Samui's face.

His eyes slid down from her delicate features, lingering on her fair, long neck and the exaggerated curve of her chest.

Samui felt the gaze. Her face remained calm, but the coldness in her eyes intensified.

She was very familiar with Kiyoshi's look.

To be able to infiltrate and work as a spy, she had naturally met many different types of people.

That look was...

Her golden short hair swayed, and Samui's ample chest gently trembled.

Kiyoshi's eyes lingered on her face for a moment, then shifted to the hem of her skirt.

His gaze swept over her long legs, and a hint of interest appeared in his calm eyes.

What kind of expression would the seemingly indifferent and desireless Samui show when forced to do something she didn't want to?

"Miss Samui," Kiyoshi suddenly smiled, his tone unhurried.

"Your little brother is still young and has a bright future. Wouldn't it be a shame if something unfortunate were to happen to him?"

Samui's face was still a picture of indifference, but the flickering in her eyes could no longer be completely hidden.

Even the composed Samui was starting to crack when her only brother was involved.

"Don't be nervous. I just hope Miss Samui can show a little more sincerity." Kiyoshi added.

The air seemed to freeze. The sunlight quietly shone on the low table but could not dissipate the heavy atmosphere in the room.

Samui froze for a second, then slowly lowered her gaze, unconsciously gripping the hem of her skirt.

If she rejected this guy Kiyoshi, he might go straight to Samatodo.

Worse, he might directly report this base.

In that case, there was no way any of them could escape from under the nose of the Hidden Leaf.

What could she do?

Even if she told Samatodo, he likely wouldn't do anything about it.

It was her own fault for saying too much.

Where Kiyoshi's eyes focused, Samui felt a stinging sensation.

Her fingers slowly tightened, then loosened little by little, finally lifting the hem of her skirt a small amount.

She didn't speak. The coldness on her face masked all her emotions. Her fair, long legs were exposed in the sunlight, and her pretty face carried a slight chill.

Kiyoshi's smile became even brighter.

Samui working for the Hidden Cloud was abetting tyranny, it was a sin!

His left eye changed from a black pupil to crimson, and a single black tomoe appeared as if being squeezed out.

One-tomoe Sharingan!

And his right eye, which had never reacted, also showed a crimson tint at this moment, seemingly about to undergo some change.

Special chakra began to generate in his brain, flowing toward Kiyoshi's right eye.

Kiyoshi vaguely felt that he was one layer of film away from completely awakening his right eye.

The Hidden Cloud wanted his body, and the Uchiha wanted his loyalty.

And he was caught in this pressure, with the Great Ninja War about to erupt.

Coupled with the frustration accumulated from Hazuki Uchiha today, he now felt some release.

A forced melon isn't sweet, but it's enough to quench thirst.

In the midst of arduous training, one must take time for a combination of work and rest.

"Good, I am very satisfied with this sincerity. My heart is now a little more inclined to return to the Hidden Cloud, but..."

When she had only pulled up the hem halfway, Kiyoshi straightened up. His figure, shorter than Samui's, still stopped her action.

It looked quite absurd.

"Let's stop here for today. I hope Miss Samui will be more careful with her words in the future."

Kiyoshi casually tucked the scroll into his chest and stood up to leave.

Otherwise, if he kept this leverage, he could be used for the rest of his life.

Putting too much pressure on Samui right now wasn't good, Kiyoshi wanted to come back later for more ninjutsu.

Enough is enough, going overboard would be counterproductive.

Samui looked about fifteen years old right now.

The other man, Samatodo, looked over thirty and seemed difficult to deal with.

Naturally, one must pick the softer persimmons to squeeze.

The door was gently closed. The slight sound of the wood against the door frame was particularly jarring in the quiet room.

Samui stood rooted in place, her shoulders trembling slightly.

After a long time, her hand finally let go of the hem of her skirt, and she leaned weakly against the cabinet.

Her usually cold and glamorous face was now flushed with suppressed embarrassment.

"Nothing... was seen anyway."

She sighed deeply, full of self-reproach.

She wished she could go back to the moment before she said those words and before Kiyoshi started leveraging her.

Then Kiyoshi might have set his sights on someone else, not her.

About two minutes later.

Light footsteps approached from outside the door, and Atsui's voice called out:

"Sister?"

Samui immediately looked up, suppressing all emotion. She turned to face her brother's innocent face.

Atsui looked confused.

The customer had left, and his sister was inexplicably still up here.

Was she tired?

Samui crouched down, stroked his blonde hair, and looked at Atsui's innocent face, her gaze gentle but tinged with bitterness.

She felt it was worth it as long as she could protect her brother's future.

This was for her only kin... her brother.
