Chapter 7 - I Don't Believe You for a Second

Translator: CinderTL

Late at night, dark clouds obscured the moon.

A gentle night breeze stirred.

With the exception of the graduating class, students of all other grades were on vacation, leaving the campus deserted. The absence of couples strolling hand-in-hand only deepened the eerie silence.

Feng Qi arrived at a secluded corner of the campus and stood still, closing his eyes.

Following the opening stance of the cultivation exercises he had learned in his dream, he slowly extended his arms, then swept his right arm forward in a wide arc. He bent his knees... leaped, spun, and twisted his body.

Moments later, he indeed sensed the shimmering motes of spiritual energy drifting around him.

Normally, it took him about ten minutes to sense these free-floating motes of spiritual energy while performing the cultivation exercises. Now, using the future version, it took only a minute.

Even the rate at which he absorbed spiritual energy had increased severalfold.

But a problem soon emerged. Feng Qi discovered that the spiritual energy he absorbed still couldn't gather in his dantian; it quickly dissipated from his body.

This realization made him suspect that his dream body and his real body had somehow become linked, preventing him from cultivating in reality.

Does this mean I can only grow stronger in my dreams from now on?

Not necessarily a bad thing. After all, my goal is the Galaxy Research Institute, not personal strength.

The thick-skinned Feng Qi calmly accepted his transformation.

He then began to ponder how to promote the future version of the cultivation exercises in the real world.

As he thought, Feng Qi gradually formulated a plan.

Although he lacked connections to the major cultivation technique research institutes and didn't know any online influencers, he did know Old Wang of history class.

Unlike most teachers at the academy, Old Wang had received a job offer from the Tiger Soul Research Institute and was a distinguished graduate of Star City Academy.

If Old Wang was willing, he would undoubtedly have channels to submit the future version of the cultivation exercises to the Tiger Soul Research Institute for testing. Once approved, the exercises could be rapidly disseminated throughout society.

Moreover, the achievement of improving the cultivation technique would qualify Feng Qi for special admission to any higher academy's research institute.

Having decided to become a savior, Feng Qi no longer intended to keep a low profile.

"I'm not some novel protagonist who needs to play the fool to deceive others. Screw being low-key! If you have the ability, you should flaunt it!"

With his decision made, he planned to find Old Wang immediately.

Feng Qi was well-acquainted with Old Wang's daily routine, having interacted with him frequently. In fact, it was Old Wang who had recognized Feng Qi's talent for cultivation technique research and recommended this path to him.

Left hand held wine, right hand a cigarette.

Sitting on the rooftop balcony of the teaching building, Wang Jinsheng's heart felt heavy.

He had just received news that a former roommate from their school had sacrificed himself in battle against domain creatures.

The news struck him hard.

He vaguely recalled the promise he and his roommate had made at their graduation party twelve years ago:

To dedicate our lives to fighting for the future of humanity!

After graduation, his roommate joined the domain combat team, fighting on the front lines against domain creatures. Wang Jinsheng, on the other hand, turned down a position at the Tiger Soul Research Institute and chose to become a history teacher.

Taking a swig of wine, Wang Jinsheng's vision blurred with intoxication. Suddenly, he noticed a figure practicing cultivation exercises beneath the streetlight in front of the teaching building.

"Exams are coming up, and instead of studying, they're wasting time exercising?"

As he observed, Wang Jinsheng's expression gradually changed.

He realized that the distant, indistinct figure's cultivation exercises differed significantly from the original version. The movements of the limbs were noticeably altered, and the transitions between poses flowed more smoothly than in the standard form.

The figure practicing cultivation exercises under the streetlight was none other than Feng Qi.

Knowing that Old Wang of history class often drank wine and stargazed on the rooftop balcony every night, Feng Qi had come specifically to demonstrate.

To ensure Wang Jinsheng could see clearly, he slowed his movements, patiently repeating the exercises again and again.

To verify his suspicions, Wang Jinsheng set down his wine bottle and stood up, mimicking Feng Qi's movements as he rotated, leaped, and twisted his limbs.

In less than a minute, Wang Jinsheng sensed the free-floating specks of spiritual energy in the air.

After continuing the exercises for a while, Wang Jinsheng stopped, his expression shocked.

"There's something wrong with these cultivation exercises!"

He discovered that these exercises allowed him to enter a meditative state ten times faster than normal cultivation exercises, and the rate at which he absorbed spiritual energy was more than three times higher.

He could already imagine the immense impact this improved set of cultivation exercises would have on the future development of humanity if widely adopted.

When the young are strong, the nation is strong. If the new generation of humanity all practiced these exercises to build their foundations, they would undoubtedly surpass their predecessors.

Wang Jinsheng, deeply concerned for humanity's future, felt his earlier sorrow vanish completely.

A flame ignited in his chest, and he now desperately wanted to know who that person was and where he had obtained this improved version of the cultivation exercises.

With that thought, Wang Jinsheng leaped off the rooftop and landed a short distance behind Feng Qi.

"Feng Qi?" Wang Jinsheng called out, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

Hearing the call, Feng Qi grinned and turned to face Wang Jinsheng.

"Teacher Wang, what's up?"

"You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Showing off those cultivation exercises right in front of me—just to get my attention!" Wang Jinsheng glared at him.

"Come with me. We need to talk!"

"It's too late. Can we do this tomorrow? I still need to study!"

Hearing Feng Qi's refusal, the veins on Wang Jinsheng's forehead bulged. He stepped forward, grabbed Feng Qi by the neck, and dragged him toward the teaching building.

"You little brat! I haven't settled the score with you for what happened in class today, and you dare give me attitude?"

"Old Wang, let go! I can't breathe! Your prized student is about to die!"

"Are you coming or not?"

"I'm coming!" Feng Qi immediately surrendered, begging for mercy.

Feng Qi genuinely admired Wang Jinsheng.

Even before seeing the future evaluations, he had a good understanding of Wang Jinsheng.

He knew that Wang Jinsheng had been invited to join the Tiger Soul Research Institute and was considered a highly promising talent in cultivation technique research at the time.

In their daily interactions, Wang Jinsheng was approachable and friendly, like an older brother who could take a joke and get along well with them.

But during class, Wang Jinsheng transformed into a strict and demanding instructor, as if he were a completely different person.

As they reached the roof of the teaching building, Wang Jinsheng's expression suddenly turned serious.

"Feng Qi, where did you learn that improved version of the cultivation exercises?"

"If I told you I figured it out myself through trial and error, would you believe me?" Feng Qi grinned.

"Believe you? I wouldn't believe you if you were a ghost!" Wang Jinsheng retorted, his eyes widening in disbelief.

In his view, researching cultivation techniques wasn't something you could stumble upon like a blind cat finding a dead mouse.

Every cultivation technique's energy flow was intricately linked to the body's acupoints.

In cultivation theory, the physical body was considered a "divine treasury," and methods for absorbing spiritual energy served as the driving force to unlock this hidden potential.

The human body possessed 52 single acupoints, 309 paired acupoints, and 50 extra meridian points, totaling 720 acupoints.

Spiritual energy absorbed into the body needed to circulate through these acupoints according to the technique's prescribed pathways, unlocking the divine treasury's potential and strengthening both bloodline power and physical resilience.

If a cultivation technique was flawed, it could disrupt the practitioner's qi and blood flow, even leading to paralysis.

Therefore, even researchers at top-tier cultivation technique research institutes like the Tiger Soul Research Institute and the United Research Institute wouldn't dare experiment recklessly.

Hearing Feng Qi claim he had independently refined the cultivation exercises through his own efforts left Wang Jinsheng utterly incredulous.

While he acknowledged Feng Qi's talent in cultivation technique research, Wang Jinsheng believed the young man still had much to learn before truly mastering the art of refining such techniques. He was still far from reaching that level.
