Chapter 118: How Many Tsunade Doujinshi Were Caused by Hemophobia?
"Kid! Where's your master?"
Tsunade stormed over. Faced with her fury, Kenichi swallowed hard, the pressure hitting him like a physical weight.
"I don't know. Sensei hasn't come back," he said, genuinely confused.
What just happened?
His teacher had not sent him any messages. No hints. No warning. He had left without even saying a word, so Kenichi truly had no idea why Tsunade was this furious.
All Kenichi could see in the chaotic street outside was Tsunade's silhouette pushing through the crowd. He could not spot his teacher anywhere.
Hearing his answer, Tsunade's expression darkened further. But she did not lash out at Kenichi. Instead, she shot him a sharp glare, then turned and charged off.
Kenichi had no choice but to hurry after her.
"Kenichi, do you know what happened?" Shizune asked as she ran, clutching Tonton to her chest.
Ever since leaving Konoha with Lady Tsunade, Shizune had rarely seen her this angry. The last time she was this angry was the time before that.
"I don't know," Kenichi said with a shrug. "Though I think Sensei is the one who should be the angriest."
He could understand his teacher's anger. After all, his teacher was Orochimaru, yet Jiraiya had written him into that kind of character. It would be stranger if he was not furious.
But Tsunade's anger?
Kenichi could not figure it out.
It was not like Asuma had gotten mad because of Jiraiya's book. Asuma had said Tsunade gave him the copy, which meant Tsunade probably read it too. It would be absurd to claim she had never opened it.
So why was she exploding like this?
Did his teacher say something?
Kenichi's thoughts sank deeper. Judging by Tsunade's outburst just now, his teacher must have stabbed straight into her sore spot.
But what was Tsunade's sore spot?
Dan Kato and her younger brother Nawaki, for sure.
Hashirama and Tobirama were also possible.
But the Third Hokage? No chance.
After the Konoha Crush, Tsunade learned Hiruzen was dead and that was that. She did not react like this, like she wanted to fight Orochimaru to the death.
"Ah, that thing," Shizune muttered.
It was obvious she had read the book too. Seeing the look in her eyes, Kenichi silently offered Jiraiya another wreath in his heart.
At this point, more and more people in the ninja world were going to read Jiraiya's book. Jiraiya was famous, and even if his readers included plenty of shameless perverts, the truth was he had a massive audience.
Once those books spread, they would only spread further. Some younger ninja might not even know who Orochimaru was, but anyone with sharp eyes would figure it out.
Which meant his teacher's anger would only keep climbing.
As the saying went, the killing intent was rising.
If Jiraiya popped up right now and got beaten half to death, it might actually help. The longer he stayed hidden, the higher the chance Orochimaru would actually kill him when he was finally found.
A loud crash suddenly sounded ahead.
Kenichi and Shizune exchanged a glance and rushed forward.
They found Tsunade and Orochimaru facing each other.
"Orochimaru, I will absolutely not allow you to insult the dead!" Tsunade glared, her voice shaking with fury.
Kenichi noticed his teacher's face was calm, completely unreadable.
"Oh?" Orochimaru smiled. "I only mentioned it casually."
His teacher looked almost regretful, as if he should have prepared beforehand. But he knew Tsunade too well.
Orochimaru bit his lip.
Blood flowed down, bright red in the night. The color reflected in Tsunade's eyes.
Tsunade instantly trembled and stumbled back, fear seizing her.
"So her hemophobia still isn't cured," Kenichi murmured, exhaling quietly.
Since his teacher clearly had no intention of fighting Tsunade, Kenichi had the spare mind to talk to Shizune.
"And yes, I call her older sister because Tsunade won't let me call her aunt," Kenichi added under his breath. "According to her, she's forever young and beautiful, so she forces me to call her older sister."
Back then, when Tsunade smiled kindly while hiding a clenched fist behind her back, Kenichi had very tactfully called her older sister in the sweetest voice he could manage.
Later, he discovered calling someone older sister came with many benefits, like getting allowances and being treated to meals. After that, he leaned into it shamelessly.
"Hm." Shizune sighed.
She could tell the Sannin were not going to fight each other, but thinking about Tsunade's hemophobia still made her feel helpless.
This was a mental wound Tsunade had to overcome herself. Medical ninjutsu was useless.
Kenichi stroked his chin, thinking. In truth, it was rare for girls to have hemophobia, since they dealt with blood regularly every month. They should be used to it.
But Tsunade's hemophobia was born from the deaths of Dan Kato and Nawaki.
That was not biology. It was trauma.
The best method was to force Tsunade to confront it herself.
Yet it was clearly not working, otherwise she would not have feared blood for so many years.
A second method was sealing, sealing away the memories of Dan and Nawaki's deaths. That should cure it too.
But Tsunade was one of the Legendary Sannin. She was powerful, and she knew sealing techniques herself. Trying to seal her without her noticing would be anything but easy.
"Tsunade, you're still the same," Orochimaru said calmly, looking at her trembling body. "A Legendary Sannin with this flaw."
He had already discovered Tsunade's hemophobia long ago, but there was no particularly good cure.
So the so called Legendary Sannin of Konoha were really only two and a half Sannin now. Tsunade's strength was heavily limited by her fear of blood. If someone used the right tactics, a handful of jōnin might even be able to defeat her.
"You're despicable, Orochimaru," Tsunade forced out, shaking, but still barely standing.
Then she noticed something on her head.
Her instincts took over.
She threw a punch.
A snake exploded into pieces.
Blood splattered across her face.
The shock hit her like a wave. Fear swallowed her whole. Tsunade shuddered, dropped to her knees, and dry heaved weakly.
Kenichi's lips twitched.
He remembered the bounty on Tsunade's head and could only pray that nobody ever learned she had hemophobia.
