Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Naruto’s Blood

Chapter 38: Naruto's Blood

"Chakra really is a terrifyingly mysterious power."

Even though he already knew about the Tailed Beast Ball, only when Kenichi Amamiya faced it directly did he truly feel the pressure bearing down on him.

For a brief moment, he even felt a strange thrill, like the feeling of secretly playing on his phone back in high school and suddenly being caught by the homeroom teacher.

"But the target isn't the village. It is aimed at Hokage Rock?"

Kenichi looked up at the Tailed Beast Ball streaking across the sky, then followed its trajectory to lock onto the target of the attack.

However, the Tailed Beast Ball did not explode on Hokage Rock. It vanished mid flight. A heartbeat later, a massive explosion thundered from far away.

Kenichi immediately understood that the Fourth Hokage had finally made his move.

The Flying Thunder God Technique was truly a monstrous ninjutsu.

It could even transfer a Tailed Beast Ball.

If that was possible, then in theory it could also teleport things like cloud burst bombs and thermobaric bombs.

As long as a marker was placed at the target location, one could instantly send a thermobaric bomb there, detach in an instant, and detonate it remotely. The destructive power would be absurd.

This was a genuinely strategic class ninjutsu.

No wonder Minato Namikaze had been hailed as the Yellow Flash.

Extreme speed was a form of absolute power.

"Have you ever been kicked by light?"

For some reason, Kenichi could not help but link Minato's afterimage like movements with a certain admiral from next door, which made him shiver.

Impossible. Minato Namikaze was not that kind of guy.

As he watched Minato disappear again and the Konoha ninja regroup to attack the Nine Tails, Kenichi yawned.

He was destined to have only a small role in this grand event.

No, that was not entirely true. There were still things he could do.

For example: Naruto Uzumaki, who had just been born.

His bloodline might hide some secrets.

Kenichi was very interested in how Naruto, as Ashura's reincarnation, was influenced by that lineage.

And more importantly, whether Ashura could be removed from him.

What kind of Naruto would remain if he was no longer Ashura's reincarnation?

Kenichi was intensely curious.

Once the thought took root, he immediately decided to act.

If he let this chance slip by, he felt he would regret it.

Of course, he could also wait until Naruto grew older, then sneak back into Konoha and collect the samples when Naruto started going on missions outside the village.

But that would take far too long, and Kenichi was not willing to waste that time.

Besides, he remembered that right now was an especially good window of opportunity.

"Fourth Hokage, your son should not be with you right now, correct?" Kenichi muttered to himself.

He did not remember all the details of the plot, but he did recall that the Fourth Hokage had placed Naruto somewhere else first.

That would be the perfect time to acquire Naruto's DNA information.

However, after searching the Namikaze residence, Kenichi could only give up.

The Fourth Hokage had not left Naruto at his home. Kenichi found no trace of the infant.

"Umbilical cord blood would also work, but the question is where Kushina gave birth. Even teacher does not know," Kenichi sighed.

He had originally planned to seize this opportunity to collect it.

Unfortunately, with insufficient intelligence, the plan could only be shelved.

When Naruto grew a little older, Kenichi could slip back into Konoha to collect what he needed then.

It would not be too late.

"The funds are more or less settled, and we have acquired a decent amount of equipment too."

Kenichi stroked his chin.

He had been planning to grab a few more "consumables," but at this point almost everyone in the village who could still run had already fled.

He roamed around for a while and could not find any suitable subjects.

That left him a little disappointed, but watching the Nine Tails wreak havoc in the distance, he suddenly had a new thought.

"If I were the Fourth Hokage, I would definitely put Naruto somewhere safe, somewhere the Nine Tails could not possibly threaten him. It would have to be remote and well hidden."

It was absolutely impossible to leave the child inside the village.

Even though the Third Hokage was doing everything he could to drive the Nine Tails out, a single aftershock from one of its attacks would be enough to kill the newborn Naruto.

So it definitely was not inside the main residential area.

It might even be located diagonally opposite the Nine Tails' current position, as far away as possible, in the area least likely to be hit.

With that reasoning in mind, Kenichi immediately headed for the far side of the village.

He ran at full speed.

He had no idea how long Obito could stall the Fourth Hokage, only that he needed to move quickly.

"It should be somewhere around here."

Kenichi searched house after house, room after room, but still found nothing.

Just as he was about to give up, he finally sensed something.

A small room tucked out of the way, faintly covered by a simple protective barrier.

The barrier was incredibly well hidden.

If Kenichi had not brushed against it by accident, no one would have discovered it.

Which only made it more likely that this was where Naruto was being kept.

Fortunately for Kenichi, the temporary barrier Minato had set up was not very strong.

Perhaps some defensive strength had been sacrificed in favor of concealment.

That, ironically, made his job easier.

After breaking the seal, Kenichi stepped into the room and saw a tiny Naruto sleeping inside.

Without any hesitation, he pulled out a test tube, carefully plucked a hair and drew a single drop of blood, sealed both away, and then slipped out just as quickly as he had come.

No sooner had Kenichi left than Minato Namikaze appeared in the room in a flash of light.

He was breathing hard, eyes sweeping the room with nervous urgency before he scooped Naruto into his arms.

Only when he felt the small body warm and alive against his chest did Minato finally let out a shaky sigh of relief.

"Is Madara Uchiha still alive? What a terrifying enemy."

Minato winced and clutched at his waist.

Moments ago he had sensed someone attacking the barrier and had tried to rush back immediately.

However, the ferocious assault from the masked man suspected to be Madara had delayed him for a precious instant, and the impatient Fourth Hokage had taken a hit before he could break away and return here.

"The barrier has been breached, but Naruto..."

Minato looked down at his son, brow furrowed in confusion.

He had been terrified that something might have happened to his child, but Naruto was completely unharmed.

Earlier he had noticed someone fleeing outside, but at the time he had been focused entirely on Naruto's safety.

Now that he was sure his son was safe and the intruder had already retreated far away…

There was nothing he could do about that for the moment.

For now, he had to deal with the man suspected to be Madara Uchiha and the rampaging Nine Tails.

Kenichi, meanwhile, had already returned to his teacher's laboratory.

There was no need to worry about surveillance.

Everyone who mattered was busy.

Orochimaru was engrossed in copying the forbidden techniques from the scroll of seals.

The Third Hokage was fully occupied driving the Nine Tails out of Konoha to reduce the damage to the village.

Danzo and Root were busy besieging the Uchiha clan.

Obito was busy beating up his own teacher.

Kenichi could not help thinking that being a teacher in the Naruto world was a dangerous profession.

Anytime a disciple fell to the darkness, the teacher would get dragged out as a convenient whetstone to "prove their path."

"Well, everyone has their hands full. That works out for me."

Kenichi stretched lazily, then headed down into the underground laboratory, no longer paying attention to the life and death struggle raging outside.

In the manga story Kenichi remembered from his previous life, Minato had simply placed Naruto down and the details were glossed over.

He had always felt that not setting any kind of barrier was a bit too careless, so in this world he set up a hidden protective barrier formula there himself.

There was no need to dwell too deeply on that detail.
